I recently went, middle june2010, with four friends. We had a wonderful time and all agree it was the best holiday we have had. The hotel was spotless and having maid service everyday was lovely. We did get upgraded to a delux suit as the standard room was not big enough... more

As we enjoyed our 1 week holiday last year, we (3 persons) decided to go back this year(11 days). Bad decision! We booked 3 rooms close to each other. When we arrived (10 a.m.) the rooms were not ready until 8 p.m. We had to wait. At 8 they gave us rooms on either sides of... more

I booked this holiday only six days before we left. I think I got a good deal, especially as it was an all inclusive holiday. It was my first trip to Turkey, I travelled with my 15 year old daughter. I chose the Rixos simply as it was on offer for a late deal, plus the... more

A very, very good hotel in a wonderful setting. The main buffet restaurant is vast and the food first class. You could quite happily eat there every meal for two weeks and not repeat the food. One lunch time I counted 18 desserts apart from fruit dishes! The a la carte... more

Great holiday, really enjoyed it just one complaint, I used the hotel phone on a few occasions and paid each time, on my last phone call home to my daughter I was handed a £118 pound bill for the call which only lasted 5 minutes! They said I was on the phone for 4 hours... more

I have been to Rixos Bodrum 2 times and loved it! It is a great 5* hotel with private beach and lots of things to do. I would advise people to ask at the reception to be placed on 1st or 2nd line, i.e in the numbers 1001-2001 onwards as you will be the closest to the beach... more

Definitely 5 star!!!
Having never been to all inclusive in the Mediterreanean but have had 5 star holidays in the caribbean and USA I was slightly nervous about all inclusive in Turkey. As soon as we drew up outside the hotel at 2:00 am I could see this was an impressive resort. Firstly, I would like to address some of the negative issues that have been raised in previous posts. The standard rooms are extremely clean, good bathrooms with plenty of hanging space for clothes. Of course if you want a deluxe room or even a VIP suite with your own private pool you can have one, but at a price. This hotel caters for mostly european guests, with the english being in the minority, which suited us fine as everyone was extremely friendly. With regard to not having a plug in the sink, this is apparently the norm for Turkey as muslims believe in washing in flowing water. If noise is an issue try to get a room in the main building as these are extremely quite. The buffet restaurant is extremely good with plenty of choice of salads, desserts etc. Of course, some of the food is not to English tastes but there is an abundance of fresh fruit, breads, grilled meats and fish etc. We never had any trouble with finding a table and at lunchtime we always sat outside on the terrace. Service was excellent throughout the hotel but some of the staff's english is limited so you must be patient if you end up with red wine instead of white, as the staff are always willing to please. All drinks throughout the resort are premium brands and we never felt any pressure to buy wine from the a la carte list. We never had any trouble in booking the a la carte restaurants, with our favourite being the French and the Turkish. The animation team work very hard at this resort and there is an excellent kids club. You can do as little or as much as you wish. The spa is excellent and my 13 year old son took full advantage of the free watersports. There a couple of party nights in the week, don't miss the Island Party which has a fantastic firework display. The best thing about this hotel is the spectacular view, there was nothing better than enjoying an a la carte meal and watching the fantastic sunsets. We will certainly be returning.
excellent hotel
We stayed until 14 May, and had an excellent time. Food in buffet restaurant was great; in al la carte's even better. Never been all-inclusive before, and i suspect the standrd here is way above the norm. Staff helpful and friendly- surprised they were not pushing premium drinks, but instead happy to serve the freebies. Facilities beyond reproach -only slight downside was that our room was right close to the pool bar, which had karaoke several nights until midnight. Not an issue for us, though
Don't recognise
Currently on holiday at the Rixos Bodrum - and cannot recognise the hotel from the glowing descriptions here on Tripadvsor. We always check the reviews before booking a hotel and were really looking forward to our stay here. On arrival, excellent welcome, superb setting and views. However - rooms are at best 3* standard (very small, little wardrobe space, only one chair to sit on (in a double room!), lights not working or non-existent (try showering in the dark, there is no light), and no plug in the sink!! First two nights we ate at the a la carte French and italian restaurants - food ok to good but not exceptional and wine prices extortionate: cheapest 35 Euro for Turkish wine, French 90 - 150 euros per bottle. Champagne 650 euros (at approx. 3 euros to 2 pounds - wow!)! Motor boat hire - 90 euros per hour. Just returned from first evening meal in regular restaurant or should I say, school canteen. Not enough seats for the diners, food bland, wine dreadful (stick to the white wine if you have to),service suffering under the strain. Fun to watch the management as things went from bad to worse!! Buffet restaurant: diners returning wih their next courses to their table to find new occupants and nowhere to sit to finish their meals. Diners clearing other peoples tables themselves in order to finish their meals. Sound like 5 star to you?...no, not to us either! We tried the Barut Lara Beach Resort last year - now that's 5 star. You can tell how disappointed we are in that we are compiling this review whilst still on holiday here at Rixos Bodrum!
Excellent All Inclusive Resort
We booked our trip to Rixos on Luxurylink.com and got an amazing rate for an all inclusive vacation. The food was fabulous. The buffet restaurant is very good and I would also recomment trying to get reservations in advance at the French restaurant Sini. If you're willing to pay extra, dinner at the Japanese was also very good. Stay away from the wines in the buffet restaurant - they are awful, but the beer is very good. The turkish baths at the resort are wonderful. You can use them at any time. It is well worth the price to book a peel and soap at the spa (make sure you specify with reception if you would prefer a man or woman to give you the treatment). St. John's Castle in Bodrum is definitely worth a visit. The shopping there, however, is disappointing. The prices are exorbitant. Instead, take the ferry over to Kos - a lovely town with much better prices. The trip to Ephesus is highly recommended. The remains of the city are very impressive. Also, we found the best bargains in the shops by the exit. We bought some lovely scarves for very reasonable prices - make sure you bargain, they're willing to drop the prices by up to half the original offer. Pack some food & drink from the resort for breakfast (there's plenty of time before the bus picks you up, they tend to be late). The place they bring you for breakfast has mediocre food and outrageous prices. The lunch stop, however, is ok.
resort hotel in lovely location
Hotel Rixos Bodrum 25/9/06-10/10/06 This hotel is set in a pine forest adjacent the main road between Bodrum and the airport. The journey from the airport takes 30 minutes. The hotel is all inclusive and standards at the hotel including food and service are extremely high. The entrance to the hotel is particularly impressive. The hotel is more a resort as everything you need is within the hotel. Accommodation is set in blocks of apartments and because the hotel/resort is set on a steep slope down to the sea this may result in climbing many steps or steep slopes to access your room. When arriving your suitcases are taken by a mini truck to your accommodation. A bus is provided during high season for transport within the resort but not when we were there. The hotel rooms vary in size but are all of a high standard including your own free minibar. Satellite TV is provided however there are only 4-5 English speaking channels. The resort has its own small island accessed by a walkway which contains Island Beach Club this provides a disco in the evenings and occasional firework displays (we were told) this was open for the first two days of our holiday but then closed down. The resort has six al la carte restaurants including a Japanese, French, Italian, Turkish, Mexican and Fish. Each restaurant may be used once a week during your stay however the Japanese restaurant is chargeable. The standards again are high with the Italian scoring the best. The nationality of the guests when we were there was mainly Dutch followed by English and a few French. The hotel provides a shuttle (chargeable) bus to and from Bodrum several times a day. The service reduced in frequency from 1st October. Overhaul an excellent holiday in a beautiful setting tempered by the issue of accessing your room and the general closure of some facilities.
Fantastic holiday
Just returned from a week at Rixos which was one of the best hotels Ive stayed it, certainly 5*. All the staff were so friendly and helpful and spoke decent English. We had a room in the hotel which was lovely but some accomodation is spead around the complex which could mean walking up steep slopes, and from other reviews could be noisy in the summer from outside bar/nightclub music. The hotel had a little beach which had golden sand and was spotlessly clean. The crystal clear turquiose water was full with fish and I wish I had taken snorkelling gear. From the beach were individual jettys with thick cushioned sunbeds which were fabulous. The food selelction was excellent with 7 restaurants (although book early as some were already booked when we tried) and the service is impecable. On a negative side (although it is hard to find anything negative) as we went quite late in the seaon the hotel was only half full which meant not much atmoshere especially in the eveings. Also few English, mostly German and other European tourists, which meant visits from the fashion police making frequent arrests!!! Also some of the events/actitvities didnt take place probably due to not so many hotel guests. Would definately return to this hotel but would visit earlier in the season.
Rixos Bodrum is to avoid due to music noise
I went several times to Turkey (Xanadu Belek, 2 times Gloria Golf Resort Belek, Renaissance Antalya, round trip) and my stay at Rixos Bodrum from 16/09 – 23/09 was the worst vacation I ever had in Turkey! Each night there was excessive loud music produced at the pool bar till 24h00. As this is a central location and the rooms are built upon a hill the noise get over the whole site. It is a general practice at quality hotels to produce music at a well protected shielded area - being an amphitheatre or disco surrounded by concrete. This basic practice is completely abandoned in the Bodrum Rixos preventing a normal sleep. This is especially hard for families with children. I traveled to many destinations and this night noise was the worst I ever had. After 24h00 the music started (fortunately less loud) at the disco Island located further of the shore. The isolation of the rooms does not reduce this sound enough. In addition events are sometimes organized at this disco Island on which you being a guest of the hotel are not allowed to go (from firms e.g. Solvay or a Sultan (?)). You cannot profit from it but you have to sustain the noise nuisances. On the hotel info it is mentioned that access is allowed from 23h00 but this practice is not always followed... Another inconvenience was the big bees that prevent to eat safe outside. We were sometimes forced to go indoors. I would have expected more capture material to reduce the number of bees. The accommodation is nice, location fine and the food is rather nice - although the bakery - except for normal bread is poor e.g. French croissants and pastry are well below standard. The restaurants are very good but the service is less - expect to get main courses before starters or starters that are being forgotten. The Japan restaurant is delicious but you have to pay a supplement. The Rixos Bodrum is good for (young) people who want to dance through the night but it is not suited for families with young children or families seeking rest due to the noise. I hope this info will help you to select or not select this hotel.
Really Good Holiday
Hotel complex very good ,bars fantastic, food 5star plus. All the staff fantastic nothing to much trouble so very polite .The best international hotel we have ever stayed in so far.Rios Bodrum is ahotel complex so do expect some walking about there are lifts and transport provided but walking helps burn off all the extra calories and gives you chance to take in the views.beach super pools realy good. Will def return to this hotel
Brilliant!
I have just returned from holiday in Rixos and it's great. I was there with my boyfriend. For the 1.time we got much more then we have paid. Food is perfect, service, entertainment. Hotel has cinema, theatre, beach, pools, aquapark for kids, 6 a'la cart restaurants free of charge. Suprise was breakfast on the boat, sailing about 1 hour and it's also included in the price. Second suprise was out door night club situated on private island. Once a week it's a gala dinner and after that party on the island with great fireworks. I'm sure I'll go there again.
Great Holiday
We are a family of five (48, 45, 21, 19 and 8yrs) and this hotel has something for everyone. Very clean, great food, fantastic location and friendly staff. We have been going to Turkey for over 10 years and have stayed at the Hillside Beach Club many times and in comparison to HBC we all agreed that the Rixos is a great alternative and is excellent value for money. It’s all inclusive, with pool/beach towels, drinks round the pool, chilled face towels when you are too hot, a fantastic spa, all the things you would expect from a 5* in Turkey. This hotel has an indoor pool, indoor cinema and an indoor bar in the main lobby, so if you were traveling early or late season there are facilities that would cater for cooler weather.
