" wow "

on reading through the reviews on this site i disagree with anyone who thinks this hotel is awfull. On our arrival we were greeted by the manager who was extremley polite and helpful. Our room was great for a family of four 2 adults and 2 kids 7 and 10 with 1 double and three singles and a large balcony. Room was cleaned daily with towels changed often. The food was excellent throughout our 7 night stay iam a very fussy eater but found plenty to please me each day which is normally very difficult for me. The evening entertainment was fine something for the kids and bingo for the adults with great prizes 100euros minimum each game. Sam and mani were great always amusing the kids and keeping them occupied hope they are there next year. We enjoyed our stay that much that we are returning in 2010 for a 2week stay there are 13of us going 6 adults and 7 children and are very looking forward to returnig.

Advice: the strip is busy with clubers after 9pm so go down early

Activities:

Good for: City Breaks

" great place "

We have just returned from this hotel and having read some of the bad reviews this hotel has had both myself and my wife think they are wrong. On arriving you are booked in and a band is put on you and you are given a table number which you have all your meals, this we found no problem and we made good friends with them. Rooms were cleaned every day and sheets once a week as for the food there was a great choice and every thing cooked fresh.
As for the drinks i was getting six in a round so no problems there, bar staff excellent. The room we had was excellent we would go back again.

" One of the best holidays ive been on "

Me and my boyfriend booked this holiday less than 24 hours before we were due to fly and after getting my mum to have a quick skim through the reviews we weren't too worried. We are aged 19 and 20. The hotel Margarita is one of the 'better' hotels in laganas we thought after walking through the strip.
The hotel is set back from the road, apart from the adult pool which is not. This is still not a problem because the adult pool is really peaceful as you have no kids screaming and splashing. The main pool is still really good and they have lots of activities for adults and kids (water polo, water volyball, lilo racing).
Even though i LOVE the beach whilst on holiday we stayed around the pools everyday apart from two days. The beach is about a 5/10 minute walk through the strip and its surprisingly really nice. You have to pay for sun loungers (which you have to do on most beaches) but the sea is really shallow for a long way out and its quite clear as well. There aren't any watersports because of the turtles. They have a bar where they serve food and drinks aswell. We had a drink whilst at the beach but because we were All Inclusive we decided to take the short walk back to the hotel for some food and then come back.
You have to share tables at meal times!! We werent told this and only found out when two people were sat at our table (you get given table numbers). On a table of 6 there was me and my boyf, another couple we met and two girls...we all sat together each meal time and its not as bad as it sounds to be honest. The food is pretty good. They always serve chips and have a wide range of salads and stuff...and the food variety changes daily. For breakfast they have a full english. Beware of the fried egg though there is usually lots of shell in it lol. The scrambelled egg looks minging but its nice and i was hooked on that and the sausages lol! For dinner they have a mixture of things but i cant remember most of it. Sometimes they have pizza or sheppards pie or roast beef with mash and gravy and then the veg aswell for tea.
The drinks are good for an All Inclusive hotel. They serve untill 12 midnight whereas other places weve been stop at 11. The beer is quite strong and not watered down like most hotels are. TRY THE MARGARITA COCKTAIL! its really nice.
The rooms are quite big and they get cleaned daily. You will need AIR CON as its like an oven....but PLEASE before u buy the air con, shut both the shutter door and the glass door and c if it works without paying... After we bought the air con, ours came on before we pressed the button (after we shut the doors)! Also take the key off the keyring and leave the keyring in the slot so the air con stays on throughout the day...it will keep the room cool! OH and by the way...take a hair dryer because they dnt have one!
The strip is the liveliest part of laganas and the bars and that have really good deals. We paid 5 euro each for 2 cocktails and 2 shots! Even though it is really lively, we didnt really go clubbing as such :P but we just took a walk up there and that was really good. The hotel is just off the strip so even though its really close to it all, you still cant hear it all.
TRIPS!!!

Advice: KEEP THE KEYRING IN THE SLOT SO THAT THE AIR CON STAYS ON THROUGH THE DAY AND KEEPS THE ROOM COOL!!!

Activities: shipwrecked is really good from the view point!!

" fantastic! "

This hotel has something for everyone, i cant think of one thing bad to say about it. The food was amazing i read the reviews before i went and some said the food was no good with a poor selection, they must have got a new chef since then because ive just got back a stone heavyer! great selection and somthing different every day... there was a couple on our table (13) that would only eat chips and complane it didnt taste like kfc but your always going to get wierdos like that wherever you go. the hotel itself is in a great spot you only have to walk 5 mins to the nightlife and the beach but its quiet at night, the chill out pool at the front is great to relax and read a book or you can go to the busyer pool at the back and sit at the bar! the staff are really nice and even the cleaners are friendly! i will be going back next year i hope! the only thing i will say is if you want to play tennis take your own racket! .... thankyou margarita for a great holiday! ps. watch out for the quad bikes us brits keep gettin knocked off em!

" Great clean Hotel at a good price "

We booked our hotel to the Margarita 5 days before we left, and after reading mainly good reviews I was only a little bit anxious about being in the minority of reviewers who seemed to hate the hotel, which, after we arrived I could not understand.
The hotel is very clean and I don't remember seeing any litter, however there are a lot of wasps, so watch out with drinks, they will swarm around you, though this is hardly a fault of the hotel.
Pools- the Hotel has a family pool and an adults pool which both have very different atmospheres, the family pool is lively whilst the adult pool remains quite quiet throughout the day.
We stayed in the older of the buildings and so our apartment wasn't as up-to-date as other's (which have flat screen televisions etc.), however the room was perfectly acceptable with a Balcony facing out of the front of the hotel with a lovely view. The only bad thing I can say about the room were the showers- I am a small woman and even I struggled to use it comfortably, I'm not sure how a large man would cope, but this is only a small niggle. We were on the third floor and so often used the lift. Although there was only one lift we did not have to wait for it once, whereas in other hotels I have stayed in with multiple lifts we often had to wait for one.
The food- it was delicious and there was enough variation everyday, alongside the staples of chips, pasta and ice cream. The deserts were often strange creations of chocolate and cream- but very tasty and worth a try. The meal times are: breakfast- 8.30-10, Lunch 12.39- 2 and then Dinner 7.30-9. I found the gap between lunch and Dinner a bit longer than I would have liked but this is no problem because the bar by the family pool serves food all day- although it is nothing too nutritious, burgers, chips and ice cream.
The resort- The location was perfect- far enough away from the strip to not have to suffer any noise or drunks (in fact the only noise we heard at night were children screaming on the way to their rooms- understandable from a family hotel). But the strip is within easy walking distance- about 5 or 10 minutes if you wanted to visit, as is the beach. We were told the we weren't allowed on the beach after 8pm because of nesting turtles, but when we went down their one evening their were plenty of people still their at gone 9. The walk to the strip is very pleasant with lots of unique shops (I would advise shopping around when buying anything as prices vary greatly from shop to shop, one item I bought for 4.80, which I saw for 9.50 just down the road). The only negative thing we found from the area was the people trying to get you to go into their bars and restaurants, after a few nights however they'd given up on us and we'd just chat to them. A lot of the people in the area are English so there's no hope of getting lost.
I would definitely go to the margarita again and would recommend it to couples and families, and possibly people wanting to go out clubbing- but if you are it's probably not worth going all inclusive and you'd be better off down on the strip.

Advice: Great if you want to go out clubbing, for a meal or to visit the lovely shops

Activities: We only visited the water park- book down on the strip not with First Choice as it's half the price

Good for: Beach

" great family holiday "

We booked a last minuite holiday to the Hotel Margarita. We booked on the Thursday and left friday morning, we weren't sure what to expect but when we got to the hotel it looked amazing. The standard of the Hotel and it's staff were outstanding. The arrangment and quality of the food was remarkable. There was great family entertainment to suit all ages, Sam and Manni who organised all Hotel activities and entertainment were awesome we as a family haven't laughed so much in a long time. Children were able to play freely and insight at all times enabling parent's to have some chill time. The Hotel was always clean and tidy our room was cleaned daily. The location of the Hotel was near laganas and its beach. It is a BRILLIANT hotel for all, we will return without adoubt. DAVIES FAMILY south wales.

Advice: It's suitable for all ages.

Activities: Views were spectacular

" Excellent Hotel "

I have just returned from 10 days staying in this hotel and had a fantastic time. The hotel felt like home. The location of the hotel was excellent just a short walk from the beach and to the nightlife offered by Laganas, but nicely out of the noise etc. from the main resort. All staff were friendly and welcoming, and the food was excellent. Cleanliness of the hotel was of a high standard. I found the hotel to be welcoming to both young and old. The hotel had two pools, one for adults only wanting a quiet relax, the second for all. I would recommend the hotel to anyone.

Advice: A lively resort with a fantastic beach.

Activities: Hireing a car to see the island is a must

" Fantastic! "

I went to this hotel for one week in June last year; the food was of a good standard and had a good selection. There’s definitely a chance to put on weight! The staff were friendly and always helpful. Hotel rooms were slightly old fashioned but had everything. The overall selection of day trips were great and my group chose the water park and the turtle trip. Location was excellent for both the party goers and those with families and just wanting a relaxing time. The main partying strip in Laganas was only 1km away. I would recommend the hotel and area to everyone.

Advice: you must try it!

Activities: turtle trip was fantastic - swimming in the clear blue ocean

" Absolute Joke!!! "

I really do not know where to start…. Worst hotel ever!!!
Laganas itself is the best holiday I have been on! I will always remember it, made such good mates and have so many good memories, sadly to say none of these great memories took place in Hotel Margarita!!!! There were 6 of us, all girls and all aged from 19 to 21…
We arrived in our room and from first inspection they looked okay apart from a clapped out old camp bed but again we quickly got over that… As the days went on we realised we were sharing our rooms with an infestation of ants which was really nice… even found a couple of the creatures in my bed!!! But still we didn’t complain!!! The bathroom door also got jammed and I had to call reception twice to come and get me out as my friends were down the shop (god knows why there is a phone in the bathroom??) The only good thing about the rooms is that we had them both next to each other so could pop in and out while getting ready…
Food – Breakfast was great and made sure I had that every morning because I never used to eat all day as lunch was the night befores leftover food and dinner was disgusting and the same thing every night! So I resorted to eating Milka chocolate and crisps all day from the shop next door! Also the tables were allocated and you may have to share with strangers… We ate out 4 nights of the 7 nights we were there.. so really worth going all inclusive – NOT!!!!!
In the day we sat round the adult pool at the front and once got told we had to get out of the it for playing with a ball.. This is what I mean JOKE! The pool at the front never got cleaned and in the end I resulted in cleaning it myself with photos to prove it, as it was full of wasps!!!
The hotel had an issue with wasps… there were nests everywhere and if you left your drink for 2 secs there would be wasps floating in it.. This was also the case at the outside bar… there were wasps flying round everywhere, this was where the snacks got made hence why I didn’t eat any snacks while I was there.. Me and my friend both got stung!!!! You was constantly running away from wasps and seeing as hardly anyone come out to clean up the cups and snacks leftover the wasp problem seemed to just be getting worse and worse!
Evenings – This is the best bit… All-inclusive??? You were allowed one drink at a time and the queue was so long that once you had got one drink, you had to start queuing again in time to get another one for when you had finished.. Think we had 3 drinks while we were there!!! The evening entertainment looked terrible although we never watched it… One night we started to watch it when they told us to go away as we were too loud. Nice!
Never mind because 10 mins down the road is where the fun starts!!!! Absolutely excellent! I had some of the best nights here!!!! The only downer was that we had to return to Nightmare Margarita!!!! The first night we returned we got chased round the hotel by some weirdo – turning out to be the woman that runs it lol!!!! We then got a warning eviction letter the next day so after that we were petrified of getting chucked out so we used to take our heels off and everything, only to receive a second letter a couple of days later, the rep sorted this though.
Overall my opinion is I wouldn’t let a dog stay in this hotel if they treated it like they did us!!! When we got back we realised we had been sent to a family hotel (by First Choice) as well as all the other young groups there… Why they would do this I do not know but the other thing that fascinates me is why families with young children would choose to go to one of the top 5 clubbing places in Europe??
Overall Zante is a great place for younger people wanting to party and have fun and it is absolutely wicked… just don’t stay in this hotel and choose somewhere else, Hotel Vivian down the road with Thomas Cook looked well good!
Oh yeah and the price we paid for this LOVELY hotel ------ £620 EACH!!!!! JOKEEEEEE!!!

Advice: For younger people wanting to party hard

Activities: 20s Booze Cruz!

" Went to the margarita last year and... "

Went to the margarita last year and wasnt going to write a review until I went to another all inclusive this year which was poor in relation
The food at the margarita was delicious. The lamb shanks were melt in the mouth. A large selection both for lunch and dinner. The evening entertainment, although mainly aimed for kids, was good, we enjoyed playing the bingo (and actually won twice approx 100euro each time) and we're 26 & 27!!
We ended up in a family room, with a double bed in one room, and 3 singles in another, then the bathroom seperate, with a huge balcony. Decor pretty dated but it was clean. Got bitten very bad by mosquitos, did leave patio door open on a night though. Had a dodgy lock on the door, quite difficult to open but other than that no complaints.
At mealtimes you're allocated a table, we were sat with 2 other couples, quite daunting at 1st if your not someone who is outgoing and chatty, but we became friendly with one of the couples and spent most evenings with them (playing bingo...) Found out they had paid £200 more than us, and had a small room with no balcony, so really I think its luck of the draw.
nice walk to the beach, which was quite hard to find at 1st. Nice walk to the main strip and bars and clubs, so if you want to stay away from all that you can, or if you do want to go there, you dont need a taxi.

" I went here with a friend on... "

I went here with a friend on girls, break away!
We paid alot of money for this holiday! and i have to say i'd never go back to this hotel! the room was dated and small, bathroom dirty and rely cleaned, always smelled!
Was never given clean towels through out the week as the staff said there not enough towels to change them everyday!!!
Entertainment stopped at 9 and was the same every evening!
food was terrible, again, same every day-lunch and dinner-same meals!
staff was rude and unhelpfull!
Would never go back to this hotel or zante for that matter! The only thing that was good was the weather, was hot,but didn't make up for the terrible hotel-would also not recommend this hotel if your planning to take a family-no way!!

" The holiday overall was amazing, nice... "

The holiday overall was amazing, nice beaches, mostly nice people and an amazing nightlife. The hotel was better than i had expected, we traveled as a group of 8, 18-22 year olds and managed to get all 4 of our rooms next to each other, which was a plus. The family pool was the most lively mainly as it had the bar next to it, which also served hotdogs and burgers throughout the day. The pool was never over packed if anything it was mostly empty, the same with the sunbeds and seating, there was always loads free. The families and young groups didnt have any trouble with each other at all. The only problem we saw was from the narrow minded older generation, with stuck up opinions of a stereotypical young group of adults; for example an old couple lounging around on sunbeds on the edge of the family pool complaining at getting splashed?! madness, especially considering there was an quieter adult pool at the front! The rooms were all kept very nice and clean, we had a problem with our door on the first night but it was soon fixed. The maids were polite although they spoke no english, we understood each other. You have to pay 50 euros for a weeks air-con and 20 for a weeks use of your rooms safe, annoying but you do need it! The food was good, if a little repetitive as with most all inclusives hotels; though there was plenty to choose from. The evening entertainment was mainly child focused, but there was a couple of more adult themed nights where a lot of the older couples got involved, which was very funny to watch. The bar stops serving at 12 and your only alowed 1 drink at a time unless your a parent getting drinks for your family, which seemed fair enough if not a little annoying having to constantly queue up individually. The nightlife in the mainstrip is in a word awesome! There are too many bars and clubs to name but the best were among, cocktails and dreams, rescue, rumours and g-spot. Our favourite bars which are a must are Wackabout (near the end of the strip) stunning DJ sets and pint glass cocktails and Wild Coyotes (middle of the strip) which is home to the devils chair in which you lay back and attempt to down a whole bottle of drink, brilliant! A quick word on the beach is that it is a bit of a walk, maybe 15mins from the hotel but its well worth it, the sea is lovely and warm and you can walk out a long way as it remains quite shallow.

" This hotel was the worst holiday... "

This hotel was the worst holiday experience of my life. This hotel is ment for families not under 24's on a clubbing holiday. The hotel put familes with small children in the same room blocks as groups of under 24's. I was in a party of eight girls all of the age of 18 and the hotel accused us of noise we werent making, we tried to reason with the management but they were too arragent to realise their mistakes. This eventually resulting in our eviction from the hotel. We were not the only groups to be evicted. The rep made no effort to accomodate eight girls stranded in zante alone, with little money, the hotel staff were rude, ignarent and insulting. I strongly recogmend any other hotel for under 24's and even families as the hotel had more groups of under 24's the families, and there will be noise in the early hours of the morning.
The food is repetative, cleaning staff are very intrusive, the manager of the hotel is extremely rude and i feel the rep for first choice at the hotel did nt do her job.

" overall the holiday was good, thats... "

overall the holiday was good, thats when we was outside the hotel. the people along the strip were lovely and there were some good bars along there.

I would never go back to the Hotel Margarita again! i thought the staff were extremely rude and none of them were happy for anyone to be there. They never made conversation and the manager of the hotel Margarita herself was very ignorant.
The rooms were filled with ants and there was only 2 days that we had hot water in our room. This to me is bad hospitality and i would not consider going back to this hotel at all. The food was the same every day for lunch and dinner which got extremely boring. We ended up eating out twiceeven though we were all inclusive.

I would not recommed this hotel to anyone and would not consider going back.
