Good Hotel Great Holiday
8 / 10
Aug 2011, KPNUTS

Have just returned from 2 weeks at the Margarita Hotel, and enjoyed a very good holiday there.
Accomodation:
We were allocated a room in the new block and it was very clean and functional, only slight complaint would be that there was not enough storage space, but there were 5 of us, however on the positive side all of the kids had their own proper bed, when I was expecting there to be at least one camp bed. Cleaned 6 days a week, air conditioning a must though but it was only in the main bedroom which meant that we had to leave the door open so as to ensure the kids room didn’t get too hot. There were several young groups staying in the hotel at the time of our our holiday but there was never any trouble with them day or night.
Food
Did get a bit repetitive but always something there for everyone and the deserts were gorgeous. The snacks at the pool bar were great, with a variety which pleased all of our party.
We did eat out and there are some good deals in the adjacent streets to the hotel.
Entertainment
The entertainment crew tried to keep the activities going with Pool, Darts, Football, Water Polo & Volleyball. The evening entertainment was the usual Bingo, Karaoke & Miss/Mr Margarita but again Adrian and the other organisers did their best & it was a lot better than some I’ve been too.
Went to the waterpark which although not the biggest was great fun.
Resort
The strip is about 10 mins walk away and is very lively with lots of party goers but the side streets have some nice bars & restaurants. Also there are some lovely beach side bars for a nice drink when the sun is going down.
Biggest down side of the resort is being constantly hassled to go into bars and restaurants by people on the streets.
Excursions much cheaper to buy in the resort.
Negatives
During our stay at the hotel there was a big problem around the family pool with lots & lots of wasps which only seemed to be getting worse as the time went on.
One of the kids in our group was burnt as one of the kitchen staff served him soup (far too much being served for the size of the dishes, meant it was right to the top of the bowl). There was no first aider at the hotel, and neither were they willing to provide dressings, and as there was a taxi strike, had to walk about 2 miles to the nearest chemist to get our own.
Apart from this a nice hotel with friendly staff.
The acid test is would I go back again – Yes I definitely would.

this was the best hol i have ever had. we met some amazing people and had a great laugh. sam and manoj (the entertainment) were amazing friendly people who made us laugh so much and made us feel so welcome. the hotel itself is really nice (apart from the one block which is used for youngsters) its pretty awful!!! the food was average. but it was a clean hotel!!! now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! as for the bar staff (excluding a few) they were the most miserable, rude obnoxious women i have ever met! if you were staying at the hotel as a couple or a group of couples...it was perfectly ok to have 6 drinks given to one person. if there were a group of you, you were treated and spoken to in a totally different way and was never allowed to go to the bar and get a drink for yourself and your friend!!! ridiculous!!! apart from the miserable bar staff, it was an amazing hol and great hotel. i would defo recommend it (not for familys though) x x

Went on a weeks break with my 15yr old son.
Bad points:
I always go all inclusive and don't really expect great food......and I was right not much varity at this hotel, but then to be fair it only has a very small dinning area.
On arrival we were advised that the temperature had been 42 in the shade that day, so after dumping the suitcases in our room I went back down to reception to ask about this and a safe deposit box. Much to my horror I was charged 70 euros for one week to hire the air con remote control and safe deposit box......beware this is not a deposit and you will not get any money back when at the end of your break. This left me broke for the rest of the holiday as it was a large chunk of my spending gone within the first five minutes.
Next was the room.....219...not not accept, ask for one of the out-buildings. I had paid for a garden view!!! all we got was the wall of the next hotel, a few pots on the top of the roof of the resturant and a constant dripping pipe leading from the air con of our room, next doors room and the rooms above. The balcony floor was always wet and the smell wasnt great.
The hotel does not do cocktails as part of the all inclusive package nor do they supply children/adults over the age of 12yrs ice creams. The packed lunch contains water, juice, an apple, an orange and a packet of crips not enough to keep you going when you are out all day.
The evening entertainment, was very poor! Mini Disco and Bingo every night, then an hour of something else, no shows, pretty boring really.
Good points:
The hotel was exclusive to First Choice, which means everyone is Brtish, everyone speaks good English and some of the staff are English. We had two First Choice reps on call every day. They were very helpful. The two entertainers worked six days a week and are a very nice couple. The day time entertainment was standard and they worked hard.
The hotel consists of three pools, the adult pool at the front of the hotel for over 18yrs and the family pool at the back, along with the children pool (which has steeps steps leading up to it...bit dangerous I thought).
The rooms were clean and tidy, and so were the bars and resturant.
The outside bar was very good, and the cheeseburger and chips was excellent. So good in fact we ate from there every day and didnt bother going into the resturant.
The hotel is located close to lots of resturants, shops and bars.
A must is a boat trip to see the turtles.....I would reacommend walking to the beach and booking a boat trip from there much cheaper than booking with First Choice.
Overall the hotel wasnt too bad definately only a three star, I have been to worse three star hotels.

Just returned from a weeks stay at the hotel Margarita Laganas. The hotel is lovely and the staff friendly and helpful. Our room was really nice. Spacious and modern it exceeded our expectation. The food was was excellent and plenty to choose from. There were 3 pools one being for adults only and set at the front of the hotel, if you wanted peace and quite. People complained about noise from other guests returning in the early hours, but you are in Laganas where it is lively and a lot of young people. I'm not saying i approved of being woken up at strange hours but, it was there holiday to. But on saying this the hotel does not tolerate unacceptable behaviour. We would definetely return to this hotel again.

The Month Of Flowers!

My wife and I have recently arrived back from 10 days at The Margarita Hotel, Laganas. We were there on an all-inclusive package. We are frequent world travellers. This is our tenth time to Zante over the years, though our first time at The Margarita. We usually come at the beginning or the end of the season. Early May is a wonderful time in Zante – the month of flowers. We love to see the island wakening up to summer.
Overall we thought The Margarita was excellent value for money. The staff were always helpful and welcoming. The chief manageress Rita was especially gracious and obliging. Maracia, Vicky, Adonish, Dawn, Debbie were also very warm and friendly. The food and drinks were consistently good and the weather was excellent. There were two swimming pools – a quieter adult one at the front and an action packed one at the back with children’s pool. There was also constant games etc for kids and adults throughout the day. Though we mostly chilled out at the quieter front pool. Would have no hesitation whatsoever in returning to The Margarita. We really enjoyed our time there.

on reading through the reviews on this site i disagree with anyone who thinks this hotel is awfull. On our arrival we were greeted by the manager who was extremley polite and helpful. Our room was great for a family of four 2 adults and 2 kids 7 and 10 with 1 double and three singles and a large balcony. Room was cleaned daily with towels changed often. The food was excellent throughout our 7 night stay iam a very fussy eater but found plenty to please me each day which is normally very difficult for me. The evening entertainment was fine something for the kids and bingo for the adults with great prizes 100euros minimum each game. Sam and mani were great always amusing the kids and keeping them occupied hope they are there next year. We enjoyed our stay that much that we are returning in 2010 for a 2week stay there are 13of us going 6 adults and 7 children and are very looking forward to returnig.

We have just returned from this hotel and having read some of the bad reviews this hotel has had both myself and my wife think they are wrong. On arriving you are booked in and a band is put on you and you are given a table number which you have all your meals, this we found no problem and we made good friends with them. Rooms were cleaned every day and sheets once a week as for the food there was a great choice and every thing cooked fresh.
As for the drinks i was getting six in a round so no problems there, bar staff excellent. The room we had was excellent we would go back again.

One of the best holidays ive been on

Me and my boyfriend booked this holiday less than 24 hours before we were due to fly and after getting my mum to have a quick skim through the reviews we weren't too worried. We are aged 19 and 20. The hotel Margarita is one of the 'better' hotels in laganas we thought after walking through the strip.
The hotel is set back from the road, apart from the adult pool which is not. This is still not a problem because the adult pool is really peaceful as you have no kids screaming and splashing. The main pool is still really good and they have lots of activities for adults and kids (water polo, water volyball, lilo racing).
Even though i LOVE the beach whilst on holiday we stayed around the pools everyday apart from two days. The beach is about a 5/10 minute walk through the strip and its surprisingly really nice. You have to pay for sun loungers (which you have to do on most beaches) but the sea is really shallow for a long way out and its quite clear as well. There aren't any watersports because of the turtles. They have a bar where they serve food and drinks aswell. We had a drink whilst at the beach but because we were All Inclusive we decided to take the short walk back to the hotel for some food and then come back.
You have to share tables at meal times!! We werent told this and only found out when two people were sat at our table (you get given table numbers). On a table of 6 there was me and my boyf, another couple we met and two girls...we all sat together each meal time and its not as bad as it sounds to be honest. The food is pretty good. They always serve chips and have a wide range of salads and stuff...and the food variety changes daily. For breakfast they have a full english. Beware of the fried egg though there is usually lots of shell in it lol. The scrambelled egg looks minging but its nice and i was hooked on that and the sausages lol! For dinner they have a mixture of things but i cant remember most of it. Sometimes they have pizza or sheppards pie or roast beef with mash and gravy and then the veg aswell for tea.
The drinks are good for an All Inclusive hotel. They serve untill 12 midnight whereas other places weve been stop at 11. The beer is quite strong and not watered down like most hotels are. TRY THE MARGARITA COCKTAIL! its really nice.
The rooms are quite big and they get cleaned daily. You will need AIR CON as its like an oven....but PLEASE before u buy the air con, shut both the shutter door and the glass door and c if it works without paying... After we bought the air con, ours came on before we pressed the button (after we shut the doors)! Also take the key off the keyring and leave the keyring in the slot so the air con stays on throughout the day...it will keep the room cool! OH and by the way...take a hair dryer because they dnt have one!
The strip is the liveliest part of laganas and the bars and that have really good deals. We paid 5 euro each for 2 cocktails and 2 shots! Even though it is really lively, we didnt really go clubbing as such :P but we just took a walk up there and that was really good. The hotel is just off the strip so even though its really close to it all, you still cant hear it all.
TRIPS!!!

This hotel has something for everyone, i cant think of one thing bad to say about it. The food was amazing i read the reviews before i went and some said the food was no good with a poor selection, they must have got a new chef since then because ive just got back a stone heavyer! great selection and somthing different every day... there was a couple on our table (13) that would only eat chips and complane it didnt taste like kfc but your always going to get wierdos like that wherever you go. the hotel itself is in a great spot you only have to walk 5 mins to the nightlife and the beach but its quiet at night, the chill out pool at the front is great to relax and read a book or you can go to the busyer pool at the back and sit at the bar! the staff are really nice and even the cleaners are friendly! i will be going back next year i hope! the only thing i will say is if you want to play tennis take your own racket! .... thankyou margarita for a great holiday! ps. watch out for the quad bikes us brits keep gettin knocked off em!

Great clean Hotel at a good price

We booked our hotel to the Margarita 5 days before we left, and after reading mainly good reviews I was only a little bit anxious about being in the minority of reviewers who seemed to hate the hotel, which, after we arrived I could not understand.
The hotel is very clean and I don't remember seeing any litter, however there are a lot of wasps, so watch out with drinks, they will swarm around you, though this is hardly a fault of the hotel.
Pools- the Hotel has a family pool and an adults pool which both have very different atmospheres, the family pool is lively whilst the adult pool remains quite quiet throughout the day.
We stayed in the older of the buildings and so our apartment wasn't as up-to-date as other's (which have flat screen televisions etc.), however the room was perfectly acceptable with a Balcony facing out of the front of the hotel with a lovely view. The only bad thing I can say about the room were the showers- I am a small woman and even I struggled to use it comfortably, I'm not sure how a large man would cope, but this is only a small niggle. We were on the third floor and so often used the lift. Although there was only one lift we did not have to wait for it once, whereas in other hotels I have stayed in with multiple lifts we often had to wait for one.
The food- it was delicious and there was enough variation everyday, alongside the staples of chips, pasta and ice cream. The deserts were often strange creations of chocolate and cream- but very tasty and worth a try. The meal times are: breakfast- 8.30-10, Lunch 12.39- 2 and then Dinner 7.30-9. I found the gap between lunch and Dinner a bit longer than I would have liked but this is no problem because the bar by the family pool serves food all day- although it is nothing too nutritious, burgers, chips and ice cream.
The resort- The location was perfect- far enough away from the strip to not have to suffer any noise or drunks (in fact the only noise we heard at night were children screaming on the way to their rooms- understandable from a family hotel). But the strip is within easy walking distance- about 5 or 10 minutes if you wanted to visit, as is the beach. We were told the we weren't allowed on the beach after 8pm because of nesting turtles, but when we went down their one evening their were plenty of people still their at gone 9. The walk to the strip is very pleasant with lots of unique shops (I would advise shopping around when buying anything as prices vary greatly from shop to shop, one item I bought for 4.80, which I saw for 9.50 just down the road). The only negative thing we found from the area was the people trying to get you to go into their bars and restaurants, after a few nights however they'd given up on us and we'd just chat to them. A lot of the people in the area are English so there's no hope of getting lost.
I would definitely go to the margarita again and would recommend it to couples and families, and possibly people wanting to go out clubbing- but if you are it's probably not worth going all inclusive and you'd be better off down on the strip.

We booked a last minuite holiday to the Hotel Margarita. We booked on the Thursday and left friday morning, we weren't sure what to expect but when we got to the hotel it looked amazing. The standard of the Hotel and it's staff were outstanding. The arrangment and quality of the food was remarkable. There was great family entertainment to suit all ages, Sam and Manni who organised all Hotel activities and entertainment were awesome we as a family haven't laughed so much in a long time. Children were able to play freely and insight at all times enabling parent's to have some chill time. The Hotel was always clean and tidy our room was cleaned daily. The location of the Hotel was near laganas and its beach. It is a BRILLIANT hotel for all, we will return without adoubt. DAVIES FAMILY south wales.

I have just returned from 10 days staying in this hotel and had a fantastic time. The hotel felt like home. The location of the hotel was excellent just a short walk from the beach and to the nightlife offered by Laganas, but nicely out of the noise etc. from the main resort. All staff were friendly and welcoming, and the food was excellent. Cleanliness of the hotel was of a high standard. I found the hotel to be welcoming to both young and old. The hotel had two pools, one for adults only wanting a quiet relax, the second for all. I would recommend the hotel to anyone.
