Margarita Hotel

We came to the Margarita Hotel with our children (3 & 1), and my parents for our Honeymoon.
Mum and Dad stayed with our two children in a lovely ground floor family room which had two bedrooms and a large bathroom with a nice big balcony for kids to play on. Myself and Husband were in a second floor room in the main building. We could see our mum and dads room from our balcony, so we could say goodnight without leaving our room! The lift worked the whole time we were there, the trick is not to overload it!
Food was great, staff were fantastic, cleanliness 5*. The only downside was that there wasn't a lot for the children to do in the hotel or on the rest of island. The beach is only 10 minutes from hotel and shops 5 minutes. Plenty of British pubs/clubs with some calling Bingo! Best bar for nice quiet drink was Club Ghetto, very friendly cocktail bar.

Myself and my partner booked this holiday about 9 months before we went, we saw the picture and information in the brochure and thought it looked lovely especially with the adults only pool.
However from the minute we got to the airport it was awful, we flew first choice and asked the check in guy if we were seated together he told us we were. We boarded the plane only to find we were on the very back seats with the aisle in between us. This we could have handled if the rest of the holiday was good but it just added to the problems.
We arrived and took the transfer coach to the hotel, when driving down the road at 7 am there were some lads who had just left a club and were exposing all obviously extremely drunk.
On first impressions the hotel was lovely, we were very pleased with our choice we got to the room to find a poky little room with a double bed and wardrobe and the bathroom was so small you could only be in there one at a time. I am a very slim young girl and I struggled to wash my hair in the shower it was so small I could hardly move!
We were there for one week and in that time I got food poisoning twice, not very good, I couldn’t go to my room to get cool coz the air conditioning you had to pay for daily and it was not cheap so we didn’t get it.
Being all inclusive you would think this would be included (always read the small print in the brochure). When we booked the holiday we paid to keep the room longer on our day of departure as we had a night flight, however on the last day the hotel staff wanted us out of our double room only to put us in a room with two single beds this was not what we had paid for or wanted!
Laganas itself is for clubbers only, there is nothing to do in the evening or daytime but get drunk, it is not a place for couples at all. The only Greek people we saw were those who ran the hotel other than that the island is full of English idiots getting so dunk they wet themselves and passed out this we saw most nights of the week.
You can walk down the street and hear the TV’s on in bars showing big brother and Eastenders! We met another young couple in our hotel who had exactly the same problems, when we discussed them with our rep he was not interested! By the 4th day I was ready to come home I had had enough!
So if you want to be an English hooligan and watch English telly whilst away and stay in a poky hot room with food poisoning then this is the holiday for you! Then you have another experience at the airport on the way home. All I can say is GOOD LUCK to anyone who goes!

All inclusive exclusively with First Choice. Family owned and run. Most friendly hotel I have been in for years. Nothing too much trouble.
Food is excellent and varied at lunch and dinner. Rooms clean and airy. Two pools, one for families the other for adults only. Ten or fifteen minute walk to the beach which is a bit tatty, but if lying in the sun is your thing it is O.K.
The main strip at Laganas is your worst nightmare come true, all burger joints and blaring TV. Bus service to Zante town is a bit haphazard but taxis are quite cheap. The town is quite small but interesting.
Not a lot to do or see on the island but the ferry from Zante to other islands provides a bit of variety.

Me & my 4 friends all stayed here at the margarita hotel June 2005. The cleanliness of the hotel is outstanding as is the friendliness. We ate out a few nights just so that we could vary our meals more, however the food at the margarita was fantastic.
Breakfast was the best, so much to choose form & so many healthy options. We all stayed in one room, a bit cramped at times but at least it was clean and all the amenities we needed. Laguna’s main strip was only about 10/15 min walk (depends how drunk we were!!!) and there are so many shops and restaurants close by.
Would highly recommend this hotel if you’re looking for somewhere that’s close to all you could want (inc the beach), yet not too close that you cant sleep at night!!! If I came to Laganas again I would stay here!

One only problem would be the airport!! I’ll let you find out, nightmare!!
