Margarita Hotel

Well I can truly say I havn't got anything negative to say about this hotel.
It was amazing, best holiday my daughter and I have ever been on.We went all inclusive, the food was great, the hotel cleanliness was superb. The two pools are great although one of them is only for adults and there is never normally anyone in that one but lots of people in the children and adult pool. We went on a boat trip to the ship wreck, that was great.
I havn't got anythin else to say apart from this holiday was fantastic.

Me and my friend came here for a week on a girls hol. I must admit Ive never been to greece before, and was a little dissapointed as it wasn't what I had expected, a bit like blackpool with sun. The hotel was really nice, and staff were friendly and always happy to help. Reps were brilliant and always available to assist. We were given a ground floor room which was nice, very clean when you could get in it. The lock was dodgy, so if your planning on getting drunk you may need some assistance, lol. The view from the balcony was a little glum, garden view? No, a wall! But if lean over far enough you'll get a better view. Food was good, something new everyday. Entertainment was fab, the guys are such a laugh! Location - only a stroll to the nearest bar, plenty of them. Don't think greek ale must agree with me as it gave me bad stomach cramps. Things to do - if you like boat trips, great your sorted other than that there isn't much else going. Cockroachs? Didn't see any in the hotel, very happy about that. Overall, not a bad holiday but I wouldn't come back here.

Just had a 2 week all inclusive at the Margarita hotel, Laganas. Fantastic holiday, good food, clean rooms, very friendly family who owns it.
Away from the noise of the centre, but in easy walking distance from the beach, set in gardens under palm trees are two pools, one at back for children with a pool bar, for snacks and drinks. The front pool is very quiet, to laze the days away and for adults only.
My husband and myself had a wonderful holiday and will certainly visit again.

Just got back from one of the most enjoyable holidays we have ever had.
The hotel was fantastic and the owners and staff were even better.
Room was small but very comfy. Food was always varied and good.
Spent most of time round adults pool which was quiet but very friendly.
Made lots of new friends, young and old.
Entertainment was very good, Manuel was good and had everyone one in fits of laughter day and night.

Will be back next year.

My boyfriend and I have just returned from a week at the Hotel Margarita and we had a fantastic time!
We checked in at 6.30am and went to our room. We couldn't believe our luck we had been given a family room with a large spacious bathroom, a room with three single beds and a separate room with a double bed and more than ample storage. The room decor is a bit dated but lovely and clean. The rest of the hotel was surprisingly modern (the photos on first choice don't do the hotel any justice!)
The pool areas were nice in lovely surroundings. Although there was an adult only pool area we tended to stay around the family pool as there was music and a bit more atmosphere. The snack/bar area was also located in the family pool area whereas if you were at the adult pool you had to keep going inside for drinks. The entertainment staff were excellent, very funny and kept the children happy and entertained all day/night.
I'm a fussy vegetarian but I found the food really good (buffet style) - plenty of choice and each day there was something new to try. My boyfriend who is not at all fussy really enjoyed it too. We didn't make breakfast but heard it was excellent (full english breakfast, cereals, fruit etc).
If you're there in couples you will normally be allocated to eat at a table with other couples, we really enjoyed the company and met up most nights for drinks. After talking to another couple we realised that we were very lucky with our room as they had quite a small room in another block and found it a little bit noisy at times. With us being in the family block it was lovely and quiet - I suppose it's the luck of the draw!
Location wise - excellent! In a quiet location 5/10 minutes walk away from the main strip with a few nice quieter bars and restaurants leading you to it. Beach is 20/25 minutes away but we didn't mind the walk, there are always taxis about if you don't fancy it.
There were a few optional extras such as air-conditioning which is 50 euros per week (but well worth it) and a safety deposit box will cost you 20 euros per week.
The hotel is aimed at and consists of mainly families and couples, not really 18-30’s which we preferred. There were some young, singles which weren't a problem. Be warned if you’re looking for an 18-30's type holiday the staff won't tolerate any noise/unruly behaviour after hours and no guests not wearing a wristband allowed.
I would definitely recommend the Hotel Margarita to anyone. We wish that we had stayed two weeks because the hotel was lovely and as a place there is so much to see and do. Would go back tomorrow!

Hmmm... I read all of these good reviews before the holiday and was optimistic, only to be disappointed. I now realise that you have to know the reviewer's tastes before the review means anything.
The hotel itself is very clean, smart and mostly well maintained with hardworking helpful staff. The food is done on the cheap with lots of cheap 'filler' (spaghetti pie) and almost entirely to unimaginative British tastes; also very repetitive.
The majority of guests smoke heavily which ruins the attractive lounge bar and permeates to the adjacent dining area (the aircon makes no difference and is often switched off to save money). There are no bar/restaurant dress standards at all: women appear in bikinis and men often don't wear a shirt. The hotel would make a great family hotel (as advertised) if 1st Choice hadn't packed it with large groups of under-25s who use it as a base to go out clubbing every night. Efforts have been made to stop the noise as they return in the early hours of the morning, but to no effect. They spend the evening watching the Butlins style entertainment and filling up on the inclusive booze (all cheap and unpalatable) before hitting the clubs.
Most families allowed their children of all ages to stay up and watch the 'entertainment' next to the main pool bar area until midnight every night; the indoor lounge bar closes at 2130 to force everyone out to the entertainment (Bingo every night, Mr & Mrs competitions, etc). Hence you cannot even have a quiet drink away from young (often poorly behaved) kids and tasteless entertainment. The alternative is to walk into Laganas...forget it!! Unless you have multiple tattoos, piercings, are drunk and highly offensive, you will probably feel uncomfortable. If you are a responsible parent, you certainly wouldn't want young children to witness the streets of Laganas.
But it's not all bad. Get on a local bus (very easy, despite the advice from the 1st Choice Rep) and get away from Laganas for day trips to what is a beautiful Island. Laganas beach is also very nice with excellent sand and clear safe waters (forget seeing turtles though - they have mostly been forced away). There is also an excellent new beach club called the Havana. In summary, the Hotel has much potential but is largely ruined by the type of (all British) guests that it mostly attracts. The Island has much to offer, but avoid Laganas; if you have an IQ higher than your shoe size and even a modicum of decency and respect for others, this place will make you ashamed to be British.

What a fantastic two weeks we had staying at this hotel. As a single parent with two children this was ideal.
The hotel was clean, the food was fab and the entertainment throughout was fantastic. All the staff were very caring and were just so friendly and helpful.
The resort is for the younger ones for clubbing etc but it didn't interfere with us as the hotel was just tucked away from the hustle and bustle.
The only complaint was that we had to pay for the air conditioning which worked out expensive - but you did need it! It got turned off every time you left the room when you took the key out - as the electric would turn off - so that was a bit of a con. We really had so much fun and we laughed so much - there was always plenty to do.
We did however share our flight with the 18/30's which I found a bit intimidating - but it worked out fine - I think we should have been told this when booking this flight. The Airport was the most disgusting place I have been to.
Get a taxi to avoid the queues as there is only on e check-in desk and you are made to queue outside! We had a late flight so it wasn’t too bad but I can imagine in the hot sun it would be unbearable!
All in all had a fab time - would definitely go back! PS Make sure you go on the Island Tour trip on the coach - really fab - don’t book it with the rep just go down the main road and book it there it works out a lot cheaper.
The boat trip was 8 hrs long - good but couldn’t wait to get off!

Fantastic is all that needs to be said. My boyfriend and I stayed here for a week all-inclusive. The room was basic, which was fine for us as it was very clean, and maid service every day!
Food was amazing, so much choice, and as my boyfriend is a fussy eater we thought it might be a problem but it wasn’t at all. The food was fresh and of a very high standard.
The staff were very friendly as were the entertainment guys, they were so funny and kept everyone well entertained all throughout the day!! A fantastic holiday all round, would recommend it!!!!

This hotel was fantastic. From the food and drink, to the entertainment through the day. Everybody mentions the entertainment, but this is because it was that good.
It was a good distance to stay clear of noise at night, but close enough if you wanted to go for a meal or go clubbing.
All in all, it was a fantastic holiday, and I would say to anybody going to Zante, this hotel is probably the best. Had a great time and will definitely be going back in the very near future.

Myself and three friends from Cambridgeshire stayed at the Margarita for one week which was recommended June 2007. I must say we all had a fantastic time!
The hotel was well presented and the staff were all so friendly throughout the day, especially the bar staff at the main pool and the evening entertainment team, Jason and manuelle. They constantly kept us all entertained day and night we have never laughed so much and we would definitely go back again to see them all.
Entertainment for the kids and adults is good and is consistent throughout the day. A great selection of food is available and is well presented and varied each day.
One of the best holidays we have had and would definitely recommend going to others it has something for everyone it can be as quiet or lively as you make it. The staff are fantastic and hopefully they'll all be there when we return in the future....! X
