Russians, Russians, Russians. All day, all night, going off their heads. Eating all the food and drinking all the drink like there's no tomorrow. very very greedy people. I seen a few of them ordering a neat spirit and covertly pouring it into a bottle for the early hours. Cheeky bastards.

The hotel staff are at the end of their tether with them, so if you are AI and they don't know you are not Russian. You will not be treated the way that they want to treat people.

Ok, so if your a couple or family looking for a nice retreat forget it. this is not the one for you. have a look at reef oasis. it's stars mean something their, or novotel or a hilton.

If you do stay here only go all in if you want to put a dint in the ale. and remember it's small plastic beaker style. no frills

The food looks great but is bobbins apart from a freshly cooked omelette. after 2 weeks though...

The food, service and bar would not be so questionable if their passion wasn't drained so much by our comrades

As soon as they new i was english and bb they were excellent with me. even taught me a fair bit of arabic and gave me advice

I was well pleased when I found Brenda's cafe bar up the road though. I spent a lot of time there having nice food and cheap beer. Brenda's Husband Mohammed couldn't do enough for me. sent his lacky out to buy me things at egyptian prices. got me taxi's for next to nothing and took me out on the piss round naama bay. Made my stay!

I wanted to change my booking so I contacted On The Beach apparently no amendments can be made within 8 weeks of departure despite the fact the hotel and flight were booked separately.

I contacted the Hotel directly - NO REPLY AFTER SEVERAL EMAILS

This I find extremely rude and probably a great indication of the customer service you will get when you get there. However looking at other peoples reviews - perhaps it is a lucky escape.

Well what can I say and where do I start.

PLEASE DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL / DUMP AS IT IS SO SO BAD.

When we arrived we was met by a member of staff who didnt seem interested in having us staying at the hotel. When we got to our room i was so sad that I wanted to go home as it was the worst holiday experience i have ever had in my life. When we went down for breakfast was shocked to find 6 pots of food unlabelled so we had to guess what was in the pots, they only served hot milk for you cereals. also as for drinks if you are all inclusive you will only get beer no wine or cocktails as they say you will get Once we had breakfast we decide to go to the pool and this is when you could see that they had broken tiles and drainaged grill all around the pool. as for the staff they sexually harassed me and made me feel scared to stay in the hotel. After we complained to the front desked we contacted our rep and with a bit of luck he moved us and this is when our holiday really started thank you the hilton this is what you call a 5* not what the royal plaza. if you would like anymore information please email me and i will tell you more sarahgibb@yahoo.co.uk

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!! If you have already booked there try your best to get moved!!! Me and my partner had booked the royal plaza through out travel agent Fleetway (wouldnt use them again either) for a week away in the sun all inclusive. We arrived at the Royal Plaza at about 9.30pm and after seeing the impressive foyer area we were quite pleased. Once checked in we were taken to our room which was on the ground floor right next to the pool. The bathroom was disgusting, mouldy tiles, dirty toilet, sink was brown and floor was filthy. After five complaints the following day it finally got cleaned (but not very well). What can i say about the food.....DONT EAT IT it WILL make you sick and they only cater for Russians there aswell. I got home two days ago and im still have to run to the loo now every half hour and ive been like that since my second day there. You expect to be hassled when you go out into town and although very annoying it happens to everyone and you have to accept it but you dont expect it in the'un'comfort of your hotel! Located near the restaurant are some shops with very very annoying people who wont leave you only, everytime you go down those stairs its "my friend,my friend, where you from, come into my shop and meet my cousin"!!!!! There are also no details of any entertainment on at the hotel and the entertainment i did see on the roof was terrible, so terrible in fact in was funny. They have a DJ on up there most nights and they do put english music on but they only have two english songs which they basically put on repeat and the CD player keeps jumping (if your going, take some CD's to give to the DJ)! Now the drinks were very strange, they had a shortage of glasses so most of the time i would get my beer (which i gave up drinking from the hotel after two days as it tastes very funny) in a champagne flute so therefore you would have a mouthful and then have to get another one which can take up to 15mins as the staff are sooooo slow, they have one member of staff to pour the drinks and one member of staff to use the till which they will make you sign a receipt everytime you have a drink!

As the food was soo bad and only russian food all of us British guests got together and complained to the F&B Manager (who i have to say is a very nice guy) he decided to do us our own food and put us in the conference room (about 20 of us) and served pizza, chips, burgers etc which was very nice of him but the following day every single one of us had been ill during the night including two very young kids. PLEASE DONT STAY HERE do everything you can to get yourself changed and if you cant be very very careful what you eat, i was there just over a week and i have lost an awful lot of weight and am still not well.

The country itself is fantastic and if you do anything make sure you go Quad Biking in the desert, its great!!

GOOD LUCK!!!

I just wished I had come across this web site before I booked or went on my holiday. I have travelled all over the world & i have never come across a 5 star hotel such as the Royal Plaza. I stayed for 9 days with my partner & once we were behind the impressive reception I was initally disapointed. This disapointment rapidly turned into being upset, when I discovered the grimey bathroom with mouldy tiles & shower curtain. Most of the plug sockets in the room did not work, so everytime I needed to use one, we both had to move a very heavy peice of furniture, the fridge in our room I had to clean, before I would put drinks in it. We were half board, however after the 2nd day when I suffered from food posioning was the last day I would eat anymore of the discusting slush they served for dinner. The food was cold, drinks that were ordered never arrived, the choice was awful usually 5 trays, 2 of which were rice or instant mash, another mushed veggies & the other two meats that had no discription.

The hotel shop staff hounded you everytime to went downstairs & around the pool.

We were told not to bring food or drinks into the hotel, however there were no snacks available to buy only room service food, however due to the fact, that dinner was sickly we snoock crisps into the hotel to eat instead.

The staff reception & concierge staff were helpful, however I felt most other staff were only helpful for tips.

Dont be decieved by the impressive reception, this place needs closing down, cleaning & to employe a decent chef. DO NOT STAY HERE, plenty of other hotels located in close proximity of the 'action' just walk right past his one.

My girlfriend and I (both early 20's) stayed here and can honestly say that we had no complaints whatsoever. The fact that we went B&B had something to do with that as you will notice that most complaints come only from those staying All Inclusive moaning about the food. I would say B&B is the better option as it allows you to go out and sample the local dishes and wine & dine as the food there isn't that dear.

We found the hotel to be very fresh, the rooms were cleaned every day and the staff (especially the room cleaners and pool boy, Baram) were so friendly. They definetly did everything they could to make our stay a memorable one.

The room we stayed in was very spacious and had plenty of storage space, even enough so for my GF's 20million pairs of shoes. The air conditioning was great and the beds were comfortable. The patio doors led out to a ground floor balcony that was approx 4 metres from the downstairs pool (which I preferred to the rooftop pool). We couldn't fault it one bit.

The hotel was located a 4-5 mins walk from the hustle and bustle of Naama Bay which was perfect as it allowed us to be close enough to the action when we wanted but also to be able to be away from the noise and relax peacefully when we chose to do that.

Last point, make sure you try the desert quad biking at sunset which can be bought from the tour shop in the hotel. It worked out about £30 each but we also got the camel ride included for that. The quads were an amazing experience and come highly recommended whatever your age or interests.

If, or should I say when we come back to Naama Bay, we would have no complaints if we were to be staying at the Royal Plaza again.

Where to begin?? I booked a holiday at this hotel despite reading some pretty awful reviews, after all a holiday is what you make it wouldn't you agree??

Arriving at the hotel the outside façade looks pretty good, arriving on December 26th 2007 you could see Father Xmas models in the foyer, the hotel lit up, proudly showing off their " 5 stars". The taxi from the airport cost £15 even though it should not have been more than £10, but my suspicions of things to come occurred straight away when the taxi driver dropped us off outside on the main road.

As I said the main foyer looked really nice and I thought, ok lets see what is really like, the front desk staff were delightful, really helpful, once checked in we were shown to our room which looks out onto... Concrete pillars and the main road. I went downstairs and as I said the desk staff could not have been more helpful we changed rooms to one overlooking the smaller pool, spacious airy room, lovely we thought.

Into the bathroom, there was mould on the tiles in the shower, the shower curtain was brown from about 8 inches up from age and dirt. We thought hey that wont matter there is the lovely rooftop bar which we went up to, couldn't see much at night other than the view over Naama Bay was lovely.

We sat down by the bar had a drink, as we sat down we wondered what the pile of cushions were for in the corner, basically they seemed to be ones that had burst their covers (possibly due to age) and were left all over the bar area, the dirty foam insides falling out over the floor.

When we got up the following day, again we went upstairs, saw the dirty rubbish cushions and the area in which there should have been another restaurant basically had not been cleaned for what I can only assume months, testament to that was the messages left by departing guests in the dirt on the glass tables. The hotel is surrounded by what I can only describe as a building site, many buildings look as though they were started but never finished.. AWFUL

We went all inclusive, I should have been a Russian.. they brought their own spirits in and as they never required anything from the bar/waiting staff were royally looked after.. New Years Eve all the bars closed except for the one everyone had to pay at, it was so bad we went outside for a drink.

My conclusions are that this hotel appears to be one of the older ones in Sharm/Naama and it also appears that they cater both in food, cleanliness and service to a Russian/Eastern European market, judging by what we calculated to be around 70%. My recommendation is that if you are Western European, be very careful before you book this hotel, it's unfortunate but my perception of Shaarm has been very coloured by the remarkably low standard of this hotel as it's a lovely place, but you learn each day don't you ??

I have just returned from staying at the Royal Plaza hotel in Sharm el sheikh, Egypt with my husband and 9 year old daughter and all I can say is what a shambles.

On arriving I thought it looked lovely just like the photo on the website the reception staff were nice and the porter took our cases to our room. The room looked nice and big, as we had paid for a suite big bathroom and 2 double beds, on closer inspection it could have done with a good scrub especially the shower but you only sleep in the room, and the beds were clean with crisp white sheets sadly this was the highlight of the holiday.

Our first night was new years eve and we had paid for a new years eve gala dinner that was a farce! It was meant to start at 8pm but it didn't so we went to get a drink there were 2 bars in the hotel one downstairs near the restaurant but it was closed the only other bar was the piano bar that we had been told was not in the all inclusive list which meant that here we where new years eve at an all inclusive hotel having to pay for drinks, it didn't last long everyone complained and they decided to give us them free.

Talking about complaining we didn't speak to anyone at the hotel all week that didn't complain quite a few actually moved hotels, we did think about it but as it was new year by the time it would have taken to get it to happen it would have been time to come home.

Going back to new years eve gala dinner this was a joke everyone crammed onto small tables, bad food, and beer in champagne glasses and at midnight the grubby looking chefs coming out with a cake dancing around more bothered about themselves having fun than entertaining the guests!

Everything else about this hotel was bad the food was always exactly the same come lunch or dinner(sometimes breakfast)it was only ever luke warm(probably why myself and my daughter had bad stomachs for 4 days)we even tried going to dinner bang on opening time and the food still was only warm, half the time the food ran out and took forever for the staff to bring out any more, the staff weren't very quick in coming to your table to take your drinks order and most times we had nearly finished our meal before they arrived, and when they did it was usually beer or coke in a champagne glass!!!!! I am sure they did it on purpose so you didn't get many drinks! They had told us on the website when we booked there was more than 1 restaurant, there wasn't, you couldn't get any food to eat at times other than meal times ,no snacks not even ice cream at the beach. And while we are on the subject of the beach it was 15 mins on a minibus to get there and when you did it was the smallest bit of beach you ever saw drinks where only available from 11am food from 1pm till 3pm only and you could only have something once either pizza or burger and fries, once we asked for fries with the pizza but we were not allowed, the towels looked like they needed a good soak as rather than blue and white stripes they where blue and grey!! The toilets where disgusting and often had no loo roll and lastly there was a pedelo you could use but had to pay £5 for (I have been to quite a few all inclusive and these are always free). We normally don't go to the beach much as my daughter prefers the pool but you couldn't use the pool as it was absolutely freezing (the sea was actually warmer!), most of the sunbed covers were ripped and the area around the pool was very dirty.

We where under the impression again from the website that there was activities during the day and night but there was none at all no kids club, no games and no entertainment what’s so ever!!

After 2 days we complained to the rep about it and he just shrugged his shoulders and gave us a complaints form, he either knew how bad it was or didn't care (probably both!)

In the end we ate out most nights and spent a lot more than we thought we would be, to top it all off we booked a trip the day before we came home to get away from the hotel and the beach and guess what? It was cancelled and more still we couldn't get hold of the rep to get our money back another £100 gone

All in all the worst holiday I have been on, I thought it was going to put me off Egypt but after talking to people on our flight home they had nice hotels, so it looks like we were just unfortunate in our choice!!! By the way the 1/10 is for the room!

All I can say is don't book the royal plaza if you are going to Sharm el sheikh in Egypt!

Please take this review serious as it is genuine, I have just spent the worst week of my life at this hotel with my partner and daughter.

We came to this hotel on Christmas Eve for a week first impressions were great until we arrived in our room and decided to go to the dining room for our gala meal.

This hotel is by no means a 5 star hotel, the food was cold and wasn’t very nice. It took at least 15 minutes to order a drink and we had to sign for it even though we had our all inclusive wrist bands on.

We came to this hotel for my daughter as its supposed to have a full animation team which it didn’t. There was no ice creams on the AI or for us to buy, if you wished to eat in-between the designated times stated for lunch and dinner you had to pay for it.

We were served our drinks in paper coke cups in the bar area and the service was very slow so as soon as you sit down with your drink you have to queue for another. There was nothing for the children other than a pool table at a cost of £4 for an hour.

The pools were so cold you couldn’t even stand in it; therefore my daughter couldn’t even make her own entertainment. The pool area was disgusting and very unhygienic as it had an astro turf like material around it and not concrete or tiles.

The pool area service was virtually nonexistent; you did at least get a glass which wasn’t very clean or safe being at the pool. This hotel is totally misleading regarding everything it offers you as it is a complete lie. They have serious problems with cleanliness, cutlery, and crockery.

This is overall the worst holiday we have ever been on, we spent a lot of money eating out and keeping away from the hotel only showering and sleeping there. I would strongly recommend to anyone who has booked this hotel to cancel it ASAP as you will be very disappointed.

We complained to our rep who couldn’t do much for us other than sign our complaints form but now were home this will be going further. We met a lot of lovely people who were in the same situation as us some of them moved hotels which were ten times better; others took a lot of photographic evidence of the hotel to prove just how awful it is.

In my opinion this hotel needs to be closed down until its current situation is resolved and a new competent manager can turn it around and offer people exactly what the website shows.

Well if this was a 5 * hotel, I would like to meet the person who agreed the rating for this hotel, did they only stay in the foyer which is the only luxurious part of the hotel (loosely called).

Behind the scenes you do not get what is described, no glasses for drinks, AI are charged for room service (if it ever turns up). No entertainment, no kids club or entertainment, no ice creams.

Drinks are warm, rooms sparse and dirty. Pool freezing, towels grubby & food cold. I could go on and on. Many angry guests and arguments, not a suitable place to take children.

Harassment from the male only staff in the Hotel shops, massage centre etc on site, went on from day one to the very last minute, it was like running the gauntlet to get to the dining hall past them. Not a place for a single mother with daughters.

On the positive side, staff were friendly and helpful but could not apologise enough for the conditions and lack of services. We made the best of our holiday but would not return.

0/10. Absolutely dreadful, something must be done about this hotel, looks can be deceptive.

Not a 5*, 2* if you were being kind. Room is functional, certainly no frills to be associated with a 5* hotel.

Food/restaurant. The worst I have ever encountered, very little positive comment to make about the food. The glasses, utensils, plates etc. Generally non-existent and certainly not clean when they arrive.

All inclusive - the bands provided to show this affliction, for that is how it was treated by the hotel staff - ensured that you were sure to get the slowest, most unhelpful service available.

Entertainment - the advertised animation team did not exist. The bars were filthy dirty, grubby and the staff were singularly unhelpful.

Pool - freezing cold water in both pools. The pool areas were covered in dust and grime. The beds were old and decrepit. Towels were old and sorry.

General comment - would make an extremely suitable residence for those being held at her majesty's pleasure!

We booked out asap and spent the balance of our Christmas break at the Novotel.

I don’t know where the last person who commented here was staying but it certainly wasn’t the same hotel as me! This hotel looks fab from the foyer, but it's all a front.

The all inclusive package is a joke and the food is a nightmare - cold and only fit for the eastern block countries that dominate this hotel. There are no snacks, no ice-cream etc. for the kiddie's; in fact there's nothing for kids.

When we were there, people were paying to be moved it was that bad and were spending money to eat out. We were only there a week, but with it being Xmas paid a lot of money. It’s the first holiday I've had where I haven’t put on weight! This hotel should carry a government health warning, more so to families. Avoid like the plague – you have been warned!

The hotel was clean. Service was excellent. Location is great.

The only bad things are:

- Extremely far beach; not on the main marina.

- The food again as others complained; Egyptians as well as Brits did not like it much. For myself, salad bar was excellent. Sweets were not that good, only once or twice. The main course... I did not find it!! No main course specially during the first day of the feast on 19.12.2007. Long rows for food; which was never seen before in any hotel. It looks like three buildings (3 hotels may be) share the same restaurant so you could imagine yourself standing for food for more than 10 minutes.

- The room was quite far from reception, took like 5 minutes walking in dark corridors. On the other hand, it was handy to bowling, fun town, and the city centre.

Just got back from Royal Plaza, and thought I’d just like to say that for anyone concerned about the reviews for the hotel, you needn't fret, as I found the hotel to be great.

Lovely staff, nice location, food tasty, but would prob get bored with more than a week, Holiday is what you make it at the end of the day; I can't believe all the negative comments left by people! I mean seriously, could you be any more picky!!

Seen it, booked it, and packed it! Fab.
