Classically Madeiran interiors married to wonderful views. It would appear that the days when hoteliers thought bigger was better and new had to mean modern and bland are finally over, at least on Madeira. The Quintinha São João may be one of Funchal's newer five-star hotels, but both its attractive architecture and its sumptuous interiors are classically Madeiran, paying homage to the days when only the most fortunate could afford passage to the island.
