Estalagem Jardins do Lago Hotel

It has it's even has it's long stay resident "Colombo", a huge and friendly tortoise from the Galapagos Islands who celebrates his 50th birthday this year, this small estalagem or hotel is a haven of tranquility. Bedrooms are spacious, attractive and comfortably furnished. There is ample wardrobe and storage space. The only disappointment were the pillows very firm and over filled. Our bathroom was spacious and had twin wash basins and a full sized bath with an efficient shower over. A separate area houses the WC and bidet.... more

We stayed here at the end of June and from the beginning to the end our visit was perfect. The quinta is very professionally run and offers excellent facilities. The rooms are large, comfortable and well equiped with pleasant balcony areas offering views over the beautiful tropical gardens. The hotel has an excellent restaurant with friendly and efficient staff, all the food we ate here was of a very high standard. It would have been nice if the menu had varied a little but other than that it would be difficult to fault.<br... more

We have stayed in this hotel in April 2007 with a 21 month old baby. Our stay was great. Hotel is lovely, with big rooms and huge gardens. Adult swimming pool is beautiful and kids swimming pool very warm which was great for our son. Staff was very helpful and everyone was so friendly. Our son loved running around the gardens - seeing fish, birds, the tortoise Colombo, swans. He also liked the upstairs den. Listening service is brilliant and we were able to have a meal every night. We visited Jardins do Lago during the February half term. The party consisted of me, my two daughters (aged 3 and 6) and my parents. It was our second visit to the hotel and we had a fabulous week - better than our previous trip purely because the weather was so great. Jardins do Lago is beautiful and sedate, with tranquil and spacious green and lush gardens. An excellent hotel, I would agree with most previous reviews. Superb staff, I cant think what more they could have done to make our stay enjoyable. Rooms were large and clean, all with superb views. We had a Premier Suite, pricey but allows escape from the children. I didnt like the rugs, which had a rubber non slip backing as as such smelt a bit rubbery, and made room smell I thought ...so removed them, but the lovely wooden floors were fine! Calm, well run hotel about 15 mins walk from the town on the way down the hill! Hotel runs bus into town on weekdays but not weekends oddly enough. Taxis are only 6 euros-ish from town to hotel if you're a bit heavier/lazier post-dinner. The lovely gardens set this apart from other hotels, also a great view over the town & sea from the balcony. I have just returned with my family (wife and 16 month child) from a week at Jardins do Lago. The hotel is very comfortable with a good range of facilities (especially bearing in mind the smaller size of the hotel). The staff are very helpful, attentive and knowledgeable. The childrens' facilities are very extensive. The den on the fourth floor is excellent, as is the nanny. This really is an extremely relaxing, pleasant, high-quality hotel. The rooms have character despite being modern. They are large and comfortable. The breakfast buffet is not as extensive as you may find in a massive property but it nevertheless is very enjoyable with a few cereals, lovely breads and rolls, beautifully fresh fruits, yoghourts, meats and cheeses and juices.
