We spent 7 wonderful nights in this hotel & wished we'd booked for more! We loved it so much that when we returned home, we immediately booked to go back in June 2008 for 10 nights. The food is excellent, the staff very friendly & helpful; however, as it is built on a... more

First class hotel and service by Tour Company. Very enjoyable holiday for nifty adults who do not mind steps. Ideal for walkers as there are plenty of walks to enjoy the panoramic scenery. Buffet style meals with plenty of choice. Tennis tournament organised for people to... more

I feel I should set the record straight since this hotel has had an undeserved poor review. We stayed for 7 nights and desperately wished we'd booked for 14. The hotel was very full while we were there, but we found the reception staff extremely helpful (although going to... more

Fantastic hotel on a beautiful island
It's really hard to fault this hotel. We stayed here in March and absolutely loved it. The whole place has been very well planned; public areas are very attractive; facilities excellent; gardens beautiful; views fantastic. The food was of a very high standard, even the buffet dinner. The latter got a bit samey but there are 3 other restaurant choices - the a la carte was excellent. Our room was very nice and we enjoyed the sea view. Some rooms have views of Mount Teide on Tenerife. One of the highlights was the excellent service - without exception, we found the staff to be polite, helpful and good-humoured. We are both in our mid to late 30's and were among the younger guests - this was fine by us! It's a great place for relaxing and eating well but not if you want to go clubbing! The hotel is so nice it's hard to drag yourself away to explore the island - but it's well worth doing so. I went on a guided walk organised by a company called Timah to El Garajonay, the highest peak on the island, and the rainforest. The island is beautiful so it's worth packing your walking shoes!
Canaries as it was 30 years ago
A perfect spot for a winter break in the sun without having to travel long haul. We were most pleasantly surprised by how unspoilt it was. The hotel is a good standard 4* - no more but certainly no less. Well worth paying the supplement for a full sea view on the upper level - direct sea views and private. The restaurants are very good especially breakfast on the terrace - we preferred to be served for dinner so opted for the international restaurant more often than the buffet - the beach side restaurant was rather limited. You need to be careful when selecting flights to tie in with the ferry and avoid long waits at either end - the BA flights worked very well for us. A most enjoyable break most suited for the middle aged.
perfect peace .de-stress
Booked this hotel because couldnt find anything else in the Canaries that fitted the Bill.i.e-nothing like tenerife.unspoilt, hardly touched by tourism.Other reviews said "best location on the island"-true!May not be suitable for anyone much under 35,unless you are just interested in an extremely private,relaxed,stress-free get-away (from a hectic work life maybe). No nightlife apart from the slightly ropey hotel entertainment.Views from the garden at breakfast akin to paradise. 4 restaurants-loved the buffet-style one, food never failed to please(4 star hotel)Amazing staff, excellent restrained service.Accommodation in beautiful gardens-get a superior room with a sea view.Due to some steps may not be ideal for the infirm or those with buggies although there are also lots of ramps. One of the best holidays ever.
Fantastic Hotel
A winter break with a big slice of LUXURY. The best holiday village with the widest selection of food and activities. The staff were very welcoming, helpful and friendly. They found solutions to all our requests. For a first time visit we were soon able to make full use of all the facilities. Exellent golf courses, tennis courts, squash, swimming pools all set in an amazing tropical garden. Accommodation is apartments set in small blocks all with wonderful views. We are looking forward to our next visit to this paradise.
Get away from it all.
Jan 06 Great NYE Gala Dinner. Great breakfasts. Good weather. No crowds, a great opportunity to get away from it and get away with it !!!!! Dont be on a diet or even thinking of one. Just enjoy it before it gets to hot and crowded in the summer.
Very Enjoyable
We had a very enjoyable week at the Tecina. It is a very well maintained and laid out resort with stunning views and good facilities for us and our three children. Pools are big and the kids club is above average. Food is good too, mainly buffet in the main restaurant. One tip is to book early for the a la carte restaurant if you want to go since it fills up very quickly. There is another bookable a la carte one on the beach which is well worth wandering down to. Only negatives were a very long transfer from the airport due to a missed ferry and the fact that it does not really have a beach. The one they show in the brochure is covered in boulders! The scuba diving and tennis are also OK.
A missed opportunity for Fred Olsen
While not really our type of hotel, each time we have been to Gomera, we have enjoyed a pleasant lunch at Jardin Tecina on a day out. But not this time. Driving in towards the hotel car park, we were greeted by a uniformed security guard at the security barrier to be firmly told that it was not possible for non-residents to eat lunch at the hotel, although we were welcome to book for dinner. Instead, the guard suggested that we go 300 yards up the road to a local restaurant. This did seem surprising given our previous experience (and all the more so since the hotel has well over 400 rooms), but the overwhelming impression, emphasised by the presence of a security guard, and security fences, was that non-residents are not very welcome. A pity, since this is not the sort of welcome one receives anywhere else on Gomera.
Very enjoyable stay at Hotel Jardin de Tecina, Playa Santiago
We enjoyed our stay for a week at this lovely village style hotel set in acres of landscaped gardens. The service was professional, courteous and generous. The room (superior grade) was spacious and freshly decorated with fabulous sea views. We would highly recommend a massage in the salon. The food was very good. For comfort, peace and quiet, outside of purpose built resorts and access to a unique and beautiful landscape, this hotel will do the trick. Tips: ask for upstairs room so as not to be overlooked by passers by; last ferries leave around 6pm so check in advance; better to take slower ferry as it goes to Playa Santiago; best swimming is on beach to the east; driving on the island is fine (but a bit scary near Valleehermosa).
Winter Warmer
This was our first time in La Gomera and we found the scenery and landscape breathtaking. Once we got to the hotel we soon forgot about the long journey which was exhausting, but the hotel made up for it straight away, our room which had a balcony with sea view was clean, fresh and modern no complaints on that score. I would recommend that you arrange for a first floor room with sea view as this is well worth the extra. The choice of pools was excellent with the hotel pool being a bit on the cold side but great loungers and eating facilities. The hotel beach club was equally good and we spent most of our time here as it was a bit quieter than the hotel pool and also had a bar and restaurant for lunch. We are in our early 30's and found that there was plenty to occupy the days as we did a rainforest walk (good for all levels)and also the dolphin and whale cruise which resulted in seeing about 20 dolphins riding the surf fantastic. My advice would be to find out what trips are available yourself, don't rely on the rep as this was a disappointment. We missed the mountain bike hire as we were not told it was there and this is something we would have enjoyed. The hotel had a choice of restaurants and you are advised to book with a couple to avoid disappointment. The same choice applies to breakfast and there was always a huge variety of buffet choices in the main restuarant. There was enough choice of evening entertainment with a piano bar and an alternative bar holding traditional music, dancing and singing, but with a balcony with a sea view you don't need much evening entertainment just a bottle of wine! In conclusion this was a really relaxing holiday with lovely hot weather and friendly people. Highly recommended.
Loved it!
This is a second visit and we love the place. It is very welcoming, relaxing, quiet and peaceful. Food is excelllent with a wide choice everyday. The golf views are stunning. Plenty of walking trips or just reading and relaxing by the poolside. The gardens and shrubs are beautiful and well cared for. If you want a quiet and peaceful stay......... please don't tell anyone what I have written because we want it to stay this way!
