Stayed in this villa for 2 weeks from 23rd May 2008.
As described by other reviewers the villa is in an excellent location, well equiped and with fabulous views.
Unfortunately the servcie did not match the villa, and was the worst we have experienced in many years of Villa Holidays. I can only think that the usual maid may have been off, as we only had 3 visits in 2 weeks, and although on these occasions the linen was changed and the bins emptied, the villa was not cleaned by the maid at all in the 2 weeks (although some air freshener was sprayed !). Hopefully the good service mentioned by others will be restored for future guests.
Also worth noting that the Villa has two small en-suite shower rooms but no bath (may not matter to most, but could be important with young children). The pool is also smaller than the 9m x 5m in the 2008 brochure, and is closer to 6m x 4m by my rough measurement.
The area had a lot of rats, and these visited the outside areas at night. It was necessary to sweep the droppings up each morning (around 30 or 40) from the terrace, balcony and sometimes the sun loungers).
There are some good restaurants on the beach including the Klematis and the Adrias Palace (looks a bit scruffy but good food and service). A little further away (on the short cut up to the main road) is the Andromeda which was excellent and very reasonably priced.

My wife and I stayed in this wonderful villa for a fortnight in early May; the holiday was our twentieth anniversary present to each other - and what a present! We had read that Kalou Cottage was good, but it exceeded all our expectations. Since the Thomson video was made, permanent canopies have been added over each of the two balconies, which makes them, and the whole villa, more pleasant and cooler. No expense has been spared to make your holiday in this villa memorable: not only is it exceedingly well-equipped, but it is well-equipped with good-quality stuff. The maid comes in and changes bedlinen and towels every other day, and keeps everything spotless for you. The pool is not huge, but it is safe, and what it lacks in size, it makes up for in comforts - there is a seat in one corner with jacuzzi jets, and an overflow device which automatically rids the surface of the majority of floating crawlies every couple of hours.
For a good meal in the evening, try the Klimatis restaurant on the beach, and get back to the villa in time to watch the sun go down over the bay, which is a pretty unforgettable sight. Happy Holiday!!

this holiday was to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary it was a dream come true fantastic, fantastic. if you like to go out every evening then you will have to drive as the villa is a bit remote we would have been stranded without the car, but with such good facilities both in the kitchen and the bar b cue area we stayed in. the local shop is great with red snapper at 3 euro each fresh from the sea. when i first went out to the pool and the balcony i cried, the view is breath taking it is so private. it still brings a tear to both mine and my husbands eye when we play our rod stewart cd's which we took with us. a holiday i will never forget go there

Me & my girlfriend stayed at this fantastic villa from 15-22 may 2005. The villa was virtually brand new & had everything we could have wished for, from cd player to cheese grater!!!
I have to say that car rental is essential if you are staying at this villa, even though there are around 5-10 restraunts within a 5-10 minute stroll. It is very hilly!
The swimming pool has the most fantastic views & there are Jacuzzi jets in it (something that we didn’t realise until our rep told us on the third day)....
The villa was extremely clean & the shower was awesome, unlike any other in Greece!
The location of Loudras is fine as long as you have a car, There is not much in the way of nightlife (we are both in our twenties)... but the restraunts all serve up lovely food.
If you are in Kefalonia you MUST visit Myrtos Beach & Fiscardo, where I had the best swordfish I have ever tasted!...
A great place to o if you want a relaxing chilled holiday
Enjoy....

This was our 2nd visit to Kalou having had a fantastic holiday there last year. Same couldn't be said this time! Agree with previous comments about the maid service. We only stayed a week and had one visit from the maid who changed linen but did no cleaning. Rats are still a problem with droppings everywhere each morning.
However the biggest problem was the building of a road right in fron of the villa. Apparently this work was over running so the work started every morning at 7.15 including Saturday AND Sunday and carried on untill 5pm. There were diggers , bulldozers, numerous lorries delivering throughout the day and an endless supply of cement lorries.
The beach was covered in building rubble that the bulldozer spent the week removing. The journey to the restaurants became a dangerous walk through these machines that were left blocking the roads at night. On the last couple of nights the builders did not want us to have access along the sea front at all due to wet cement being laid.
A local restaurant told us that the work had "killed" their business this year and ruined the holidays of many, many people.
Appreciate that this work will not effect people in future but shows total lack of consideration for tourists.
