Ithaka is the most tranquil Greek Island ever - it is just beautiful, clean, quiet, restful with some of the nicest scenery in the Ionian. Teh people are very riendly, and it is just a million miles away from life back in London.
The Yellow House is equally beautiful. Set on a road leading up from the capital Vathy, it is set overlooking the port of Vathy. It has a large front balcony, a beautifully secluded pool in attractive gardens, and three lovely rooms - all air conditioned, clean (a children's room too), and is a home away from home and perfect for family living for a couple of weeks.
We love it so much we are going back again this year and I cannot wait to step foot back in the Yellow House.
Vathy is perfect - a little bigger (and that is not saying much) than the likes of Frikes, Kioni, but no less attractive, the perfect place to actually stay on the island with a small family - so you can easily walk to pick up bits and pieces as you need them, so lovely local tavernas and a pleasant town square. Teh beaches are all pebbles, but beautiful, clean and pretty empty - all in all a fantastic destination. Teh food at the tavera opposite the school in Stavros is out of this world!
