Rustic Charm
from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed here for a week on our honeymoon, in one of the larger doubles with a patio. The hotel is lovely, the staff friendly, the food good and the location great. Our room was big, the bathroom adequate (no bath but not an issue for us), and the only downsides really were the rock-hard mattress and occassionally hearing other guests through the thin walls. Since it was our honeymoon we didnt worry too much about the cost, but the room was not cheap. Breakfast was included in the room rate and had a good selection, and good coffee. In...

Rooms without balcony : to avoid
from A TripAdvisor Member
First of all : we loved the island of Hydra and the beaches are simply perfect (quiet, warm & clean water, preserved, especially Nicholas located after Bitsi). All the reviews are OK regarding the island of Hydra, the pool, the breakfast (I even found it very good), the matress (not comfortable) and the rooms with balcony (good as one guest show us his room). But here is a review for room with no balcony : very overpriced 170€ (breakfast included) as the room was : -small -not containing specific furnitures to put our...

Lovely Island Hotel
from AKNIC
We loved the island of Hydra. It is so charming and quiet since there are no automobiles. The Bratsera Hotel is very nice. We had a room with a balcony that we enjoyed. The pool area is very lovely, though not big. We had chosed this hotel because it did have the only pool but we enjoyed going to the beaches nearby and swimming in the beautiful Aegean Sea. The breakfast that is part of the cost is quite nice, (love that Greek yogurt and honey) and for the most part the staff is helpful. Be sure not to fall for the donkey...

Thin walls and rock hard beds
from irishinnewyork
I would have to agree with previous reviewer. We stayed in a standard room for two nights and left utterly exhausted having been woken before 7am both mornings. Beds were rock hard and the room was tiny (just enough space for two people and their suitcases). Shower overheated so much that we both got burnt and the switch for the immersion heater gave off sparks both time we used it! While the hotel is picturesque and the pool welcome in the heat (although it would have been nice if they had removed all the flies!), it is definitely over...

Charming hotel - an expensive treat
from ScreenName73
We took a last-minute trip to Hydra and Athens in May, during the off-season. We stayed two nights at the Bratsera Hotel in Hydra and greatly enjoyed ourselves. We booked a room with a balcony, and enjoyed sitting there in the sun. The rooms are small (the bathrooms even smaller, yikes!) but the charm of the wooden eaves, yellow painted walls, gauzy drapes, and flowering trees made up for the small quarters. I agree with some others that the hotel is overpriced -- especially the restaurant, which while tasty is much too expensive -- but...

basic facilities
from Kathyweston
We had read some fabulous reviews of this hotel but to be honest, when we arrived at the hotel, my husband and I were disappointed. The staff were reasonably helpful and kept reminding us that we had arrived out of season - which meant no room service, restaurant or pool... This was all news to us. Our room was nice, very basic with a hard mattress and a broken shower. It was a romantic room but after four days there, the fact that the shower had not been fixed really annoyed us. If you do stay in this hotel, make it for one/two...

Charming and overpriced
from A TripAdvisor Member
We booked the Bratsera Hotel because it was billed as the only hotel on Hyrda with a pool, and we imagined leisurely afternoons reading poolside while our son played in the water. No one mentioned that the pool would be empty in the off-season, as it was the week we were there. The hotel was charming in an old-world way. We stayed in a Euro 250/night room with a double bed and a loft bed. The atmosphere was pleasant. We appreciated the fridge, which was stocked with bottled water. The main bed was hard as a rock, though, and the walls...

The best hotel on this quiet island
from FloridaEurophile
We came to Bratsera for the second stop of our honeymoon in July, after a very long travel day. The first afternoon, we were so exhausted, we just lounged by the pool and enjoyed the tranquility of the courtyard and the hotel (especially after a less-than-tranquil 3 days on Mykonos). We ordered snacks and white wine by the pool and enjoyed the thick white cushions on the lounge chairs. These little details are the kinds of luxuries found in much more expensive hotels, and were a nice touch for the Bratsera. This is a quaint island, which...

Beautiful Little Hotel on an Idyllic Island
from A TripAdvisor Member
We were at the Brastera in May and stayed in a room with a beautiful private terrace. The hotel is very nice and the service is very good. It is not a luxury hotel by Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton standards, but there are no hotels like that in Hydra. The rooms are quaint; having the terrace was a real plus and I would recommend a terrace room. The breakfast is very good and the restaurant is not bad, but overpriced compared to the other excellent tavernas on the island. I recommend To Steki and Veranda. The hotel does have a...

Wonderful hotel on a peaceful island
from A TripAdvisor Member
Hydra always draws the in-crowd, thanks to its car-free policy and authentic 19th architecture. And, with the Bratsera, the in-crowd without a villa have somewhere to stay. We really couldn't fault it, apart perhaps from a slightly repetitive breakfast. The hotel is built round a courtyard stuffed with plants and vines, surrounding the pool which is just big enough for the number of guests (at least, whilst we were there in May). The surrounding streets, even though it's just a few minutes from the harbour, are scenic and peaceful. Rooms are...
