Da Bolsa Hotel

Hotel Bolsa has a great location right in the heart of Porto. The waterfront is a mere 5 minutes walk away and the rest of the city is easily accessible on foot. Parking is a problem in Porto so the cut price arrangement the hotel has with the nearby underground parking facility was very welcome. Rooms are modern and clean and some have great views. Breakfast was nothing special. Porto itself is a wonderful place - lots of character and tiny little alleyways that probably haven't changed in a hundred years!

We really enjoyed our one night in Porto. The hotel is conveniently located in the center of the city. The airport bus stops right in front of the hotel (just tell the driver the name of the hotel), and the central train station is very close as well. The room was very clean and pleasantly spacious. The breakfast was excellent with many choices available. We found Hotel Bolsa an affordable and pleasant place to stay in the heart of this beautiful city.

Great location, you can walk anywhere. The river Douro is nearby along with port tasting. The service at this hotel was excellent, with a very friendly staff. The room was very nice and we had a decent view. The surrounding area of the hotel was a little run down, but what a great town! Would definitely stay here again!

A building with character in a wonderful position near the historic centre of Porto. Our room, number 306, was clean and large - previously two rooms now made into one on the corner of the second floor, with 3 windows. It is probable that all rooms are not as large as this one. Helpful English speaking reception staff. We stayed for four nights, cost €252 including breakfast, booked via Iagora web site. We drove into Porto on a Thursday night with no reservations and found Hotel da Bolsa. The staff was very friendly and helpful with parking, maps, suggestions, etc. They spoke excellent English and were very easy to communicate with. We ended up getting a 5th floor room overlooking the city, the river, and had a great view of the port cellars. The room was large, with 2 full bathrooms, a sitting area with a large closet, and a separate room for the bed. Stayed in the Bolsa recently for two nights (August 2006) and don't really understand the other glowing reports. Yes, it's cheap, 70euro for a double room but our room was extremely small. Clean but fairly charmless. Also, we were on the top floor and early morning were surrounded by birds, possibly seagulls?, who seemed to inhabit a derelict building across the road. We spent 3 days in Porto in June, and will definitely return. The Hotel Bolsa is in the old town, and rooms on the 6th floor give a fantastic view over the old town, the river, and the port houses on the riverbank at Vila Nova Gaia. The hotel itself is clean,all the staff are excellent and extremely helpful, and the reception staff have lots of advice on what to see in the city. We got this hotel at the local tourist information centre on arrival. This hotel is a three star but I would give it an extra star the rooms were great the staff were exceptional. The location was central to everything shame it was at the top of a hill, but porto is hilly anyway. Porto is a fantastic place to vist lots of history great food plus all brands of port is made here!

We had a room on the sixth (top) floor overlooking the street. We expect some street noise in the middle of a city and it was reasonably quiet on the first night, but the second night was a horror. There seems to be some sort of club across the street, and there were kids there on the pavement until 3 am making an awful noise. On the third night a rock concert was taking place somewhere - I imagine it was across the river. However, the marvels of electronics can make it seem like next door. So, take earplugs with you. OK, this hotel is a great value and the location is amazing, for me, the best location ( except Pestana hotel, 3 times more expensive), but the room I got, number 301, was quite small, old, no hair dryer, no mini bar, very poor toiletries, small bathromm without storage space ( our things were on the floor ) and a very dirty shower courtain; the breakfast is the poorest I have ever seen, a swiss roll, old fruit, cheap corn flakes and the cheapest yoghurts you can find in Portugal.
