Britania Hotel

We stayed at the Hotel Britania for 7 nights on our honeymoon in early August. On our first full day, we went to the Oceanarium, and bought a cute 2-ft long seahorse (with 2 baby seahorses in its pouch, kangaroo-style). We loved the humour of the staff ... when they made the room up each day, they kept positioning the seahorses in comfortable positions on the chair or the bed! We stayed for a weekend. Some websites call this a 3* hotel, possibly because it doesn't have a pool or other facilities, but I'd give it 5*. The rooms are fabulous. I wanted to pull up the cork floor and take it home. Great decor throughout the hotel, and the staff are charming. Parking is no problem, as they have reserved places on the street right in front of the hotel (free!) and park your car for you. Buses/metro just around the corner, although we preferred to walk. We loved it, and hope to go again.

Believe all the reviews. This was a lovely place in a great part of Lisbon. The staff were very accomodating, and friendly. They looked after our needs, including for our children with excellent room service. Breakfast is good. The staff are superb. Stay here and you'll write similar reviews to ours!

My wife and I stayed at the Britania in early July and were absolutely delighted by the service provided by the extremely friendly and helpful staff of this wonderful boutique hotel. The common areas are small, but very cosy and spotlessly clean. Our room was very spacious and nicely decorated. The bathroom was also fine. Breakfast was excellent. This review is a little overdue, but when done later, I believe you know it's done in an objective frame of mind. We were a party of four, and had found the Brittania Hotel on the internet. This is a lovely character hotel for those who like Art Deco style even though the hotel was built in the early 1940's . In some ways it is a bit like staying in a club rather than in a city centre hotel as it has only has 30 or so bedrooms. Our room was extremely comfortable and spacious. The staff were all charming and helpful and always avaliable to assist. If you like all mod cons this is not the hotel for you, as some aspects are a bit quirky e.g. air conditioning which has been mentioned elsewhere. It may also be a bit further... more

Most reviews have covered it all. The hotel is excellent - large, clean, modern rooms but still with character. The staff could not do enough and were extremely helpful and informative on Lisbon. The breakfast was perfect - fresh fruit, fresh coffee, danish pastries etc. Would definitely recommend

I can only agree with the rave reviews already posted here for the Britania Hotel. This being our first visit to Lisbon and not speaking Portuguese, we were hoping the claims of great customer service would hold true. They exceeded! From the prompt doorman who first hauled our bags from the taxi to the incredible desk staff and friendly server at the morning breakfast buffet (which was delicious), these folks could not have been better. My fiance and I stayed here for just one (too short) night in late May on our way to Africa. I chose it based off the reviews and I can't say that I was the slightest bit disappointed. Arriving super early (7 am), we were unable to check-in, but the front desk staff were amazing and kind and let us store our luggage and enjoy the superb breakfast before we ventured out to go sightseeing. We missed our connecting flight to Spain and had to spend the night in Lisbon. Hotel Britiania was recommended by the information desk at the airport. We were pleasantly surprised at how clean, comfortable, and charming the hotel was. The staff were very friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. The free breakfast was delightful. The hotel is conveniently located walking distance to transportation and many of the main attractions. We had 2 adults and 2 kids and all of us loved this hotel.
