Ariana's apartment in Zaton Mali is undoubtedly in a stunning location right on the water's edge, and within easy reach of Dubrovnik, and lots of other attractions, our hosts were incredibly helpful and friendly, as were all the croatian's we met, and we had a wonderful holiday there, however if you're booking through simply travel, and are seduced by their description of 'drinking in the peace and quiet', and 'the only noise that will disturb you is the singing of the birds', and like us, absolute peace and quiet is what you are looking for and expect from a description like that, then you might be dissapointed at the constant drone of background traffic noise coming from the split/Dubrovnic coastal road which runs parrallel to the water's edge on the opposite side of the bay, which is in your view from the balcony. I wouldn't want to put anyone off going there, as virtually all the villages are next to a road, as the mountais form a steep backdrop to the sea, and roads and villages are squeezed together, but i do think it's a bit naughty of simply travel to be so misleading about this, as it is something we took their word at literally, and it strongly influenced our decision to book it, and wouldn't want any other total peace and quiet lovers to be mislead, so i thought i'd put the record straight, however we are very particular about this mattering to us, and in all the many entries in the visitor book no one else mentions it, and talks about feeling relaxed and it being tranquil, as indeed the immediate surroundings are, the apartment has no immediate traffic going past it, just the jetty for walking around the lovely peninsular to Zaton veliki, so if you don't mind a little traffic noise go ahead and book it, i'm sure you'll have a wonderful time as we did.
