We stayed in villa number 2, it was perfect, very clean and had everything we needed for our two week stay (It even had mozzy repellant plug ins). The villa had a lovely roof top sun area leading from the main bedroom through the French doors. It also has a lovely sunken feature fireplace.
The owners Costas and Rula are lovely people very welcoming and generous - loads of Raki, wine and gorgeous food cooked by Rula and her staff. The little village nearby (at the bottom of the hill) called Neo Chorio has a supermarket for everyday essentials, Armeni the next village has two lovely Tavernas on your left as you arrive into the village.
Kalives a little further (15 mins in the car) has everything you will need - a bank, supermarkets, bakery and loads of tavernas. A memorable holiday for us we will certainly return one day soon.

We stayed in villa number 1. It was amazing. Having our own pool in this fertile mountainous landscape. There is an underground lake beneath the Maheri area. The landscape is always green which is rare on Crete. The villa has lovely features including costas own designs. He is pretty good with iron and gardening of course! He is looking well after the vegetable patch which is situated in the middle of the village. There is everything you could grow and Rula cooks those in the authentic greek way. Yummy!
Rula knows about interiors pretty well. The venetian previous owner would be very proud of what she has done. They digged out the structure of the houses, added a pool and numerous features. Villas where added. If you look for a visual place as well as authentic cretan features you are in the right place.
You can go easily running or walking 5K on a mountainous trail through this amazing landscape!

P.S. There is also Kalives fifteen minutes away. It has everything you will need - a bank, supermarkets, bakery and loads of tavernas.
The beach is a stone throw away!
