My advice to any Brit's would be...
5 / 10
Aug 2006, Miss R Eddy

My advice to any Brit's would be firstly do not book your holiday through any online tour operators (unless they are well known or you have used them before) you will end up with a completely different holiday/hotel to the one you have booked and end up off the beaten track in a far away resort, you will undoubtedly also have to deal with slightly cocky and unhelpful representatives who will not admit that any changes/faults or problems are anything to do with them!
My second piece of advice is do not go to Cala Ratjada unless you speak fluent German, the resort itself is beautiful but is approximately 90% dedicated and overrun by German people, even the Spanish minority speak German! The English race is somewhat not catered for and we were made to feel very unwelcome!
The Roc Carolina Hotel is in a lovely setting approximately 10 minutes from Cala Ratjada (via taxi), and the hotel is kept in an immaculate condition both inside and outside.
However, the food leaves a lot to be desired and is the same thing more or less everyday, at 12.00midnight the hotel and pretty much everything around it (literally 3 bars) closes, the all inclusive bar is an experience and not dissimilar to what you would expect to find in a primary school - forming an orderly queue while one barman runs around like a headless chicken, all the while the Germans pushing to the front of the queue or not queuing at all, but still being served!
Holidays are what you make them and we were lucky enough to find about 15 other English people/people who could speak English (all of who had bad experiences with booking/getting the right accommodation etc too!) but indeed they made the holiday a real laugh, without them it would of been substantially worse. If any Brits choose to ignore this advice and decide to visit this place I hope that they to will be lucky enough to meet up with some more cracking Brits, you've been warned!
The Entertainment is quite amusing especially if you find Flip Flop Flinging funny!
The Roc Carolina is not air conditioned, does allow children of any age, wont provide bathrobes and is non smoking, these are a few other things that wont be mentioned to you!

Well to start of with if you’re...

Jul 2006, Mr A Davis

Well to start of with if you’re going to Roc Carolina you will not be going to the hotel pictured or described above. It is no longer that hotel and is just across the bay to the one pictured, which is the Iberostar.
The Roc Carolina is a very impressive building which stands out in the bay of Font de Sa Cala and is set straight out over the bay and the beach. The building does not have air conditioning which was a major down fall, but fans could be purchased at reception for 15 euros for the week, if they had any? The building overall is spotlessly clean and very well maintained, this includes the pool area. The rooms were cleaned immaculately everyday.
The food was good for a buffet style menu but obviously they can only do so much, and I didn’t have any problems with the selection I could always find something that was nice.
My main problem apart from the lack of aircon and fridge was the alcohol. We were all inclusive which meant we got all house spirits and beer free. I’m not sure what was in the house spirits but it wasn’t what you were meant to believe. I had a shot of Tequila and I think I have had better tasting hair spray! The drinks on a whole were pretty hard work and to get drunk you had to be a bit of a light weight and once 12 came round they closed the bar which left most of the British tourists hunting round font de sa cala for an open bar!
Which there was a few the best being Tony's bar where they do good food and nice beer if you fancied a night away from the hotel, and sometimes live music.
Now the last thing which every British tourist must take in to consideration is the fact that this hotel is 90% German and in fact I would say the whole of Cala Ratjada is German. So if you don’t like Germans then I seriously wouldn’t come here as it is described as the German Magaluf!
They were all ok with us though in true German style some were very moody. But overall if you want a relaxed holiday then this place is the place to come as that’s what you will get and also stay away from the entertainment as it is as about entertaining as pulling your toe nails out! And I’m not exaggerating!
