Our family of 4 adults stayed at the Sheraton whilst visiting the Christmas Markets in Salzburg.
We were warmly greeted and although arriving too early for check in, the room was made available for 12 noon and our luggage stored for us to enable us to go walkabout for a couple of hours. The hotel is situated approximately 15 minutes easy walk from the Old Town and Mozart Platz.
Our rooms were spacious and very clean although considering this was the 5*Sheraton, we felt they would have benefited from a bit of a re-vamp and a lick of fresh paint. However, having said that, we had a very comfortable and clean bed with all the facilities one would expect from a 5star hotel. The hotel is situated in a very quiet position for sleeping. Our rooms overlooked the Mirabelle Gardens.
The public rooms were extremely well appointed and the breakfast buffet very varied although it was busy and the staff seemed to be struggling to serve everyone quickly and some of the dishes were empty. We did have to wait until we were well into our breakfast before we were served with a drink. It was not a problem though.
Reception staff were very helpful about local facilities and travel.
We would readily stay there again in the future.

My partner and I stayed in this hotel over Christmas and New Year. On the positive side: we are vegetarian, and the staff went out of their way to prepare us a special vegetarian meal on Christmas Eve (there were no vegetarian options on the Xmas Eve menu). They put a lot of thought into the meal, which was very enjoyable. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. You get a free map of Salzburg from reception when you check in, which came in very handy. Room service is available 24 hours a day and there are 3 very nice places to eat. It is also in a good location, overlooking the beautiful Mirabell Gardens. The rooms are of great quality, with comfortable beds, and are clean and well presented. We were especially pleased when they gave us a free upgrade from a double room to a Junior Suite! This included a king-size bed, table and chairs, and a lovely oversized room with en-suite facilities. The hotel features smoking rooms, which we were happy about! It's also in a great location, only a short walk from the old town.
On the negative side: very pricey, but that's what you expect I guess from a 5* hotel. One night we ordered some milk to put in our tea and they charged us 7 Euros for it!
There was no kettle in the room, although there was a coffee perculator.
In the hotel description, it states that each room has Internet access, but this was not the case. Also, it stated that satellite TV would be available. There was satellite, but there were no English speaking channels apart from CNN and BBC World Service, and the pay-per-view channels are no longer in operation due to tax reasons?!
Also there are hardly any vegetarian options on the menu, they could do well to add more variety for non-meat eaters, however this seems to be the case throughout most of Salzburg.
Overall a pleasant stay, would recommend it if cash is not a worry and you want top-quality service in a convenient location. Would not recommend if you are vegetarian, tight on cash, or looking to relax in some nights watching TV.
