Stunningly Good, Surprisingly Bad
We stayed here for three nights in January 2006. It's decent value for the money, specifically: -- Spectacularly good breakfast buffet. The choice is wonderful -- everything from acorn-fed ham to breads to fresh fruit to yogurt. -- Fantastic location. It's about 30 steps from the old synagogue and 5 minutes walk from the main tourist sites. Perfect. -- Surly and unhelpful staff. If you like smiles from your hotel staff, look elsewhere. We asked the front desk for a map of the town and they gave us an illegible black and white... more
Wonderful location!
It is very difficult to find this hotel if you are driving. Basically will have to drive the wrong way down a one-way street in order to get to it. But being tucked away in the up-scale residential neighborhood of the Jewish Quarter is well worth the hassle. The area is absolutely charming! The Jewish Quarter is just a short 5-10 minute walk to the Cathedral, but is not filled with the large crowds of tourists. Rather, it consists of a labyrinth of very narrow white walled streets, filled with restaurants, art galleries and... more
Great location and great price
Beautiful hotel with outstanding amenities; great online price. Be sure to try the Segway city tour from Blobject across the street.
terrific
We stayed here for a couple days in late July with our son. This was a great hotel right in a perfect location, its an unusal style for Spain but it was very well appointed. There is a top steak resturant very near the hotel just down the lane, ask them for the name at the hotel desk and I promise it will be the best beef on your whole trip. We went for lunch the day we arrived and it was the last meal they were serving before they closed for renovations for a month. Actually all our meals were very good in Cordoba. We choose them from the... more
Very good- no faults
The location is excellent for walking to all attractions. There is valet parking under the hotel. The room was large, light and furnished in a restrained modern style. No centuries old ingrained dirt! The downstairs feels a bit like Malaysian Airlines lounges in KL-airport: wide expanse of minimalist style. However it is good. Several booking sites specified a minimum stay of 3 nights. I don't know why. We only needed 2 nights and eventually succeeded in booking through hotels(-) I had never used them before and I am... more
a nice hotel
Had a very nice stay here between March 28 and 30. The hotel is quite nice and has been recently refurbished. The rooms are well appointed. We asked for a quiet room and got one. (A previous review compained about the noise next to some entry doors - having entered the hotel a few times through these doors I can see how noise from the entry buzzer and doors slamming shut would have definitely been a problem. Be sure you do NOT get these rooms). The breakfast buffet included in our rate was very extensive and good value. Hotel staff were... more
Wonderful classy hotel in the midst of the old Juderia
This is a great refuge to stay. It is tucked away one block from the busy narrow streets filled with gift shops and only three short blocks from the Mezquita - a must see building! Our room backed into an inner narrow courtyard and separated from the rest of the city by an ancient wall of the old city. The location couldn't be better. The rooms are medium sized and up scale, classy, modern, very clean and in excellent condition. We found the staff very acomodating and they always had staff available for ice, drinks, taking us to the room,... more
Disappointing
Don't allow them to put you in the rooms by the outer doors. All night long people rang the bell to be let in and the outer door was opened for them with a really loud buzz. We were assured that these rooms were not noisy -- HAH! Also, the open hallways are probably quite pleasant in the summer, but bitter in the winter. Windy and cold IN the hotel. Breakfast was quite expensive as was the parking. The rooms were clean but without charm. I certainly would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
Chilly at the Front Desk: Warm Everywhere Else
While the staff at the reception desk was decidedly chilly, the rest of the staff was delightful--a seemingly inverse relationship between hierarchy and human warmth. That is not to say I would warn people off from the hotel. And it does qualify as a four-star hotel--the location is excellent, in the Juderia, or old Jewish quarter. The hotel is built into the medieval walls. The labyrinthine walk to the Mezquita is only three blocks. The walk to the commercial district, as well as a few old Renaissance districts, can be done in 10-15... more
It's ok
We stayed here for one night - the staff is ok -not particularly friendly or courteous. The location of this hotel is excellent though - minutes away from the Cathedral and other sites. The room is clean and modern, but has no safe to keep personal items. The room is 4-star, but the service is definitely not.
