Reviews of La Tour De Micalona Villa, Olmeto, Corsica
La Tour De Micalona Villa, Olmeto
From the 15th century onwards the ruling Genoese built around 110 towers on Corsica, to defend the strategic position the island held on the maritime crossroads between Europe, Africa and Asia. They are still a feature of the Corsican landscape today and visitors to the island will see them dotted along the coastline but a lucky few will be able to enjoy the experience of staying in one at La Tour de Micalona, new to our programme for 2005.

The web information does not do this charming place justice. The tower (which I believe is a listed building) has been tastefully restored without making it into a luxury palace so keeps its rustic feel and looks. The 360 degree views are stunning from the top. From Campo Moro to the south west right around the Gulf of Valenco to Porto Pollo to the North West and the mountains inland.
There is a shower on the roof with hot and cold water so in the morning you can enjoy taking a shower and looking at the view. The property is not overlooked so one can enjoy the plunge pool as nature intended with stunning views over the sea.
The pool has been built between some very large rocks and these can be sat on whilst in the water keeping cool. The stairs in the property are narrow so it is not for people who have difficulty climbing stairs.
An enjoyable holiday and this is a place I will return to in the future as it is unique.
