Atlantica Aeneas Hotel

Just come back from 2 weeks stay at hotel,was worried before going as reading reviews,but once there was ok.Reception staff abit slow when arriving into hotel had to ask where room was,they showed us,then brought our cases to our room.We booked a pool access room with thomsons(paid a extra £1000 to get this only to find out later that people had been allocated these rooms without charge).FRiends of ours stayed in block A with jacuzzi we went ther in a afternoon as it was great.If you read other reports about building work going on then ignore them as it has finished,we were invited to the managers cocktail evening to the opening of the new hotel block that had being built(we would stay in this block next time).Food--- well what would you like too eat we had every morning at leasr 30-40 different choices of various cereals,crepes,bread,hot food even doughnuts great same on a evening (try the hot dough balls in syrup,aswell as there pavlova's gorgeous).Next the sunbed argument,yes you do have to be up early to reserve a sunbed before 7.00am as mentioned by thomson rep do not reserve before 8.00 but when you wake up at 7.15am to find most sunbeds gone what do you do you fall into that old war game england v germany (same at meal time),if in block B pool access then don't reserve beds as you get 2 on your balcony,we were told by thomson reps that towels would be removed by hotel staff if on beds before 8.00am what a joke,but towards end of holiday alot of english started complaining to reps,guess what? great fun 3mornings later at 7.00am i was sat on sunbed on balcony of my pool access room seeing something that i have never seen before a hotel buggy pulling up outside hotel door full of towels great at 8.00 am when everybody was coming down to breakfast wandering where ther towels were they were in reception in a big heap(thomson have now hopefully got it sorted so be aware as this happened on alast 3 days).Entertainmant same thing every night so went out after kids disco for a drink takes about 10mins to get to nearest bar(sophia & sarah entertainmant staff just so funny)beware takes about a good 45-60mins walk into ayia napa not much there unless you want bar after bar after bar then a shop then bar after bar grt what i mean.Water park brilliant|||| cost £5cyp by taxi if you get there before 9.45am then dont by advance ticket from rep as you will be queuing longer than paying when you get there on the day(only saving £1 cyp with thomson rep anyway per ticket).Watch out for little hidden extras we ordered a childrens film one evening it said £1.95cyp for 3 hr when checking out cost £6.95 there is nothing you can do about this as it is set at this price so be carefull watch the kids don't start bookink films,talking about checking out, on a evening when having a meal tell the waiter when ordering drinks that you want to pay cash otherwise it is booked to your room and at the end of the holiday you can't remember what you have had to drink(check your room bill at end of stay when checking out),any smokers out there then you are ok to fetch back 3200 fags 3kg tobacco per adult found stathis supermarket the cheapest(out of hotel turn left 5-10 mins walk) cheaper than airport alcohol not though so watch out,if you want a taxi just walk as they keep passing every second (they pip there horn just before they see you so listen out then just put your arm up they will stop),well that is it as i say great hotel unfortunatelly not 5xxxxx but would go back

Me and my friend both 20, stayed here for a week with thomson, im use to 5 star quality hotels and i was a bit disappointed with this hotel. The hotel is really stunning and i would say its pool really is its high point. the rooms are average. The food was average too. The sevice was shocking, we would wait 20 mins for our drinks, or stand at the pool bar for 20 mins before we were even asked what we wanted. There staff are very lazy and ill mannered. We booked with thomson and i really do have to say that the reps are more than helpful and you will see one at least once a day if your around in the lobby. The area is nice and quite, nissi beach is just across the road, we only went a few times, walk right along the beach to get some clear sea with no sea weed. If your young and up for some fun then head onto bar street, its a good night out, although i got fed up of people pulling you into there bars, just avoid them, or say no and ignore them. I recommend bedrocks, pirates, castle and river regge (regge river). Dont let the taxi driver rip you off tho, 4 pounds is about right for goin into ayia napa. We had a 17 hour delay with thomson too on the way home to glasgow as our flight went tech, and it was a nightmare in the airport as we were left in the airport with no information for hours, then we were told that we were being taken to a hotel to stay over night. This bad treatment was not due to the reps it was the airport staff who kept us in the dark, as soon as the reps got us to the hotel, (hilton, 5 star) it was a stunning hotel, they laid on food and a drink. the reps were really good and made sure everyone had everything they needed. Then everyone was given a roll and water for breakfast. i must say how wonderful the reps were as alot of people where giving them abuse which was really uncalled for. they did an excellent job!! Anyway over all had an excellent holiday. only complaint was the bad service and customer service from the cypriot staff at the hotel.

We have just returned from a 2 week holiday at Atlantica Aeneas with our 2 boys aged 9 and 6. We booked our holiday through Thomson holidays and upgraded to the "Superior family room" this is a Thomson description and I would suggest looking at the Hotels website at the differing room types as they don't correlate. The Room is a standard room with a double sofa bed, if I was travelling with 2 teenagers this room would be too small for a family of 4 but as ours were only 9 and 6 they were ok. When booking we selected half board as the All-Inclusive upgrade of £16 per person (no reduction for children from Thomson's) seemed a little expensive when my wife is tea total and the kids don't drink that much ;-). 2 Days into the holiday we decided to look at the options of upgrading with the Hotel as the drinks were quite expensive, there were 2 options available from the hotel: Drinks only CY£12 Full All-Inclusive CY£16 (Which included snacks / ice cream (scoops) and lunch) of which we selected the full all-inclusive and the children were half price CY£8. The Thompson welcome meeting was focused on selling there trips and we were told about issues with sun beds being reserved (Which was not allowed) and they were working with the management of the hotel to sort this out. I challenged the Rep about what was being done about the situation and she was having a meeting with management to sort it out, she said Life Guard staff were being instructed to monitor the towel on the sun bed situation and remove towels when the bed were not being used. I spotted some people were having sun beds on one side of the hotel and then moving round to the other side in the late afternoon where they had reserved (put a towel on the bed). IN MY 2 WEEKS NOTHING HAPPENED TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE, as the management monitor this forum I would suggest they take this onboard and come up with a solution as this seems to be a common issue throughout the reviews. The Hotel and room was very clean and staff were constantly cleaning the pool and surrounding areas. We have read some negative reviews on the food options and all I can say is we have a very fussy 9 year old who is a nightmare to cater for and his plate was full every night. Yes there are sections that are repeated each day the Pasta and the Pizza but there is another 20 dishes to chose from. Excellent salad bar and a good selection of sweets with a large selection of fruits every day. The salad and fruits were available from Breakfast through to dinner (Fresh at each service). The hotel has one of the best Kids Clubs every feel this is down to the staff, They deserve to be mentioned by name Sarah & Sophie, my boys absolutely loved them to bits and we had tears on our departure (Not just from the Boys). All of the Major building work is now completed and the new pool bar opened whilst we were out there. The only downside on the whole holiday experience was the having to get up at the crack of dawn to reserve the sun beds.

Just returned from a two week All Inclusive stay at this hotel with my boyfriend. Having previously stayed at 3 Thomson Platinum Hotels I rate this hotel 3***!!! Our room was in the main 3rd floor building. A little disappointed that the view was facing the rear or the building however very quiet. Room very clean, spacious,air conditioned and cleaned daily. Do not use the mini bar as all drinks overpriced. Tip! Find a supermarket that sells the same drinks supplied in the bar store them in your suitcase and replace when needed. Dinner and breakfast is bedlam don't bother waiting to be seated. Just find a vacant table and try and catch the waiters/waitresses attention to take your drinks/tea/coffee order. For peak season I really think the dining room is understaffed. Food was okay but repetitive and I am not a fussy eater. Ended up in two weeks ate out 9 nights. Certainly a must is Mai Thai, Los Bandidos. Entertainment mainly aimed at families with a childrens disco every night at 8:30. In the bar there is a male singer. However, be warned both repetitive with the same songs played and sang every night. Drinks are limited on all inclusive, spirits are weak. I watched barman serve a larger measure spirit drink to a half board guest. Cocktails that are charged are over priced. £3.50 pina colada and the measure for a cocktail is very poor. Again like the dining room the bar seems to be understaffed for peak season and it can be frustrating waiting up to 15 minutes to be served. Closed at 1am. Pool is amazing. Be prepared for a early start to reserve a sun lounger. I had to set my alarm for 6am to guarantee a bed. Amazed how many beds are already taken at this time of the morning. You will notice throughout the day that beds are reserved with towels and no one sitting on them. Really annoying when you see guests looking for loungers. Noticed a couple who had four beds reserved for morning/afternoon sun bathing. Thomson rep mentioned this problem at the welcome meeting and promised that this matter was being discussed with hotel management? I have stayed at hotel in Tenerife where the rule was no towels on beds before 8:30am, any found before this time were removed by the pool staff. During my stay I discussed with fellow Thomson guests my comments above and everyone seem to think the same. Thank you to all the staff who work really hard and long hours in swealtering heat. Sorry I wont be returning back to this hotel in the future. For the money I paid I will probably go back to Carribean where the hotels provide better service for all inclusive guests.

Fantastic hotel, lovely spacious rooms pool area was brilliant and you couldnt fault the food or the staff there was so much variety more than any hotel ive ever stayed in and being a travel agent myself thats quite a few!! The only down side i would say was the entertainment on an evening but it was still ok... I was a little worried when i read the reviews before i left, but all i can say is ignore the negatives as some people seem to moan about anything!!!

We booked this hotel as a 5 star hotel at a travel agent in Sweden and after that we had booked the stay we found out about Trip advisor and started to read about this hotel Atlantica Aeneas . We thought that we were going to be disapointed because of what we had read about it but when we got there we just loved it. Well it is not a 5 star but nearly in our eyes, and they are starting to renovate this hotell and it should have been done until we got there but it wasnt done much, But i dont think that the hotel is bad, it is really nice. Took this hotel beacuse it is near to Golden Beach wich is a very good beach, and we have been staying at the Adams Beach hotell right across this Atlantica Aeneas hotell in the past and payed for a 5 star then but it wasnt a 5 star like the Atlantica one. Atlantica Aenaes is much better but I would like if it was some more renovation. Had a great week .

Have just returned from the Atlantica Aeneus and had a great 2 weeks. There were a few hicups but generally the hotel is clean, staff attentive and the food is good. I wouldn't rate it 5* more like a 4*. When we questioned the Thomson rep (who was useless) she was said that it was rated in Cyprus as 5* and that it shouldn't be compared to the UK. We have stayed in 5* in Pathos and it still didn't compare to other 5*s in Cyprus. We paid for a superior room which was a bit of a joke. The only difference I could see was that we got wine and fruit on arrival. We complained to the rep on the first day and she said she could move us to another superior room (exactly the same only different view) or we could pay even more and be upgraded to an executive room with pool access. These rooms looked nice but we had already paid £33 per day and didn't want to pay anymore. There were a lot of other guests also disappointed with the superior rooms so my advice would be just book a standard room and don't pay for the upgrade. They have slightly bigger sofa and are supposodely designed for families. We travelled with a 6 year old but if there had been 4 of us it would have been tight. The balcony is tiny and you do get a pool view although also of the noisey road! Some of the staff came across as arrogant but I think that this was the language barrier not that they were being rude. The bar staff (David in particular) was very attentive and we always managed to get a drink with dinner and in the bars. We have stayed at a lot of all inclusive hotels in the Med and this one was by far the best with the drinks service. All drinks are waiter service and you order bottles of wine which were palatable and not the help yourself drinks that you often get. Food choice was huge and we never resorted to the pizza or pasta which was good. There was a massive salad bar and always a roast on. The selection of deserts was also very good. There are only 2 restaurants for dinner one inside (no smoking) and long trousers need to be worn and one outside by the huge pool (smoking) which is more casual. The dress code for men was strict but some of the female guests didn't really dress for dinner. Bikinis and sarongs are not really appropriate dress! My overall opinion is that it is a nice clean hotel with a great pool. Don't expect anything too specail and you will be pleasantly surprised. The rooms are just OK and the public areas good. People do reserve sunbeds at the crack of sparrow but I didn't understand why as there were enough for everyone and we never didn't get one. The hotel management said they were looking into this so hopefully come August it will be resolved. They provide pool towels which you couldn't always replenish. Again the management said they were addressing this by buying more towels so again it should be resolved! I would also like to to let you know about the entertainment. The kids club and disco was excellent. We couldn't keep my 6 year old away and had to tell him it was shut so we could actually see him! Sarah and Sophie were fantastic with the children. I wouldn't recommend this hotel for couples as it's a way out of town and the adult entertainment is dire. The magician (aimed at kids) was drunk although they didn't seem to notice and they enjoyed the parrot show but if you were a couple then you need to get a taxi into Ayia Napa CY£4 where there is plenty to do as nothing near the hotel. If you pay half board people said that drinks were expensive in the hotel. You can't put anything in the fridge in your room as they charge you CY£5 per day. Bottled water is supplied daily in your room although not very cold. I hope you find this useful and as long as you can get a good deal (don't pay full brochure price it's not worth it) you will have an enjoyable relaxing holiday.

We have just come back from two lovely weeks at the Aeneas Hotel and would highly recommend it. We had such a nice stay and the hotel was very picturesque and not like the other big hotels around the area. I am not so sure that I would actually class it as a five star hotel but from the other reviews that we read before going it is getting a lot better. Just to let people know as well that there is ongoing work at this hotel but its only a small amount which is on the new part of the hotel. There is a pool bar getting built and some new apartments. We did hear that a few people were unhappy being around that area because the noise from the diggers and from the drills woke them very early and what they were doing looked pretty dangerous because it was right next to the pool area were people were swimming. This never affected us and we have to say what they are making looks beautiful and very modern looking. When we actually got to the hotel it was about 10:30pm due to our delayed plane we were dreading having to book into the hotel as it usually takes about half an hour to an hour but lucky for us it only took us 10 minutes. We were given a room in the main block so the concierge brought up the bags for us. If you were on the other side of the hotel you can be taken by buggie with your cases to your room. The only let down with reception is that you have no idea what you are supposed to do for breakfast or your other meals as they do not tell you anything and they weren’t very smiley. The breakfast is actually situated in the main block just to the right of the reception were the gym and indoor swimming pool is. You are meant to wait to be seated and then help yourself to whatever you want to eat whilst the waiting on staff get your drinks. The variety for breakfast was great. Everyday I kept on saying that I would be healthy but I just couldn’t help myself to the cooked breakfasts, I did do my best to burn it off in the pool with a morning swim before all the kids got in there. The best part of the hotel was the swimming pool it is massive and really well maintained. The pool staff are always cleaning it so its very well looked after. There are two bridges that go over the pool which were really pretty and it’s a good pool for small children as it gradually gets deeper. The pool is that big that when people have inflatable beds in there you can still swim around them and there is lots of space. The only problem I would say is that there isn’t enough space for beds and there was definitely not enough umbrellas which is so needed due to the heat. We couldn’t believe that people must have been getting up about 6 o’clock just to put their towels on the beds. We were lucky that everyday that we did go down to the pool that we got a bed and we went down around 8:30 but we noticed that the last few days that we were there it was getting very busy due to the kids holidays starting so I think our luck would have ran out and we would have had to get up a lot earlier. The hotel rooms were nice. There was a sofa bed in the room so I gather the room we had was for 3 – 4 people, have to say that would be such a struggle as there wasn’t much space for clothes. There were six small drawers and then the wardrobe but that only had about 8 hangers so be prepared to live out of your suitcases. The rooms were all air conditioned which was really nice to come in to when you had been outside all day. The towels were changed everyday if needed and they supplied shower gel in the shower and then little bottles of toiletries. If you need an iron & board you just need to get in touch with reception who will send one up to your room. The fridge is tiny and there is a charge if you put anything in it to keep cool but there isn’t any room anyway as its stuffed with all sorts of food and drink. They do leave a bottle of water for you each day but obviously it isn’t cold as it cant be put into the fridge. The main restaurant is all buffet food which is really good as there was a great variety. If you are half board like us you could either have lunch or dinner you just signed each time that you put your drinks order in with your room number and signature. Only one warning of advice is when you sign for your drinks we never got a receipt so when you go to pay at the end of your stay you have totally forgotten what you have drank so maybe it would be wise to ask for your own receipts or keep a tally of what you have had. Also be aware of the misersable head waiters (white shirts) these are the ones who are supposed to show you to your seats and take your drink orders. They really havent got a clue what they are doing, got drink orders wrong nearly everytime and gave a lot of grief to waiters and waitresses who in my opinion did a great job. The Thomson’s reps weren’t much good and I really do not recommend going on the half day Famagusta tour as it was a total waste of money and you don’t see much of Famagusta. To start with we weren’t told that you should really take Turkish money with you as only certain places accepted Cypriot money, so be warned. Most of the time you are stuck on a bus picking other people up and when the guide starts talking you just switch off as you can tell she has said the same thing over and over again. The first drop off was in a little village which you had an hour to yourselves. Then when you finally got to Famagusta we were dumped on a beach for an hour and a half whilst the tour guide stayed in a bar with some locals that she knew. You could see the ‘Ghost Town’ from the distance but that was about it. It was a total waste of a day and we really regretted spending (CY)£27 each when we could have been doing something much better. If you do happen to go make sure that you take some drinks with you and maybe a towel for the beach. The Hotel is a bit out of the way from Ayia Napa I would say a 40 minute walk and it does get hot walking all that way even in the evening. There are a few restaurants along the way and a few bars. The bars were more family orientated and had live acts on. They all seemed to like Elvis and Kylie. We went to one restaurant called Gardens just down the road from the hotel and I have to say it was a lovely restaurant and the staff were really lovely. We started getting a taxi into Ayia Napa if we were going for a night out. From the hotel it cost £4 (CY) which is well worth it as you wont be hot and bothered by the time you got into town. We went for a good walk one night and went down to the harbour. I wouldn’t say much about that, it did have a few restaurants but they didn’t look anything special so we carried on walking and then found a gorgeous restaurant called ‘Sage’. It was really modern and very classy. It was more expensive then other restaurants but the service was excellent. We had about 3 waiters looking after all our needs and the food was gorgeous. They had a saxophonist playing which was lovely and very romantic. The meal came to just over £50 (Cy) (2 course, bottle of wine and coffee) but we thought that it was well worth it. It was that good we went back a couple of nights later and it was just as good. The local beach over the road was alright I wouldn’t say it was a great beach its not picturesque at all. What spoiled it was too many fag ends and rubbish scattered about and too many party people wanting a good time at the beach bars. I know they want to have fun but there was tons of them and it sort of spoilt the atmosphere of the place. You can just imagine how many posers that were there checking each other out. There was quite a lot of seaweed in the water but once you got past that the water was lovely. I have been to better beaches and it was a bit of a let down because I was expecting it to be gorgeous. We did have a few late nights but nothing too heavy as it wasn’t really our scene. The Square actually made me feel old for the first time on holiday because there was so many teenagers. We also went into Protaras a few times and even went out for a meal but that was such mistake. We went on a Saturday night so we were expecting the area to be busy with Cypriot people being off work for the weekend. We decided to go for a Mexican (don’t know the name) meal in Eden Square which is a selection of restaurants and then an entertainment area for singers etc. When we got seated at the restaurant we never got a good vibe because it took them ages to pass us any menus and then when they did it took them a further 15 minutes to take our order. I ordered the baby rack of ribs whilst my boyfriend ordered the chicken fajitas. We got our starters and then after we had finished them we must of waited about 30 minutes for our main meal. We didn’t mind the wait but we did notice that the place started filling with a lot of local people and they were getting served really quickly with lots of lovely looking food. When the food eventually came it practically got thrown on our table and we never got asked if we needed anything. Anyway my meal should have had barbeque sauce poured all over it like I had seen on another table but it looked like it had been left under the heat lights for at least 20 minutes because it was all dry but the fries were luke warm. My boyfriend’s fajitas looked quite nice but you only got 4 really small tortillas to wrap the meat in and so most of the food was still left over when he finished them. Not one person came over to us to see if everything was alright. We finished our meal were I actually left most of it. And we must of waited at least another 30 minutes before anyone took any notice of us. We just sat and watched lots of English people getting ignored at the door and all the local people getting seated before them. At one point there was a young English couple who had to argue with the waiter because they had been ignored twice because other people had been seated before them, I felt really sorry for them as it was very embarrassing for them both. Maybe if we went on a week night it might have been different but I really would not recommend anyone going there. Afterwards we decided to go for a few drinks and ended up in the Ghetto Bar which was one the liveliest in the strip. The music was mainly R’n’b which is what we are in to so it was a really good bar but unfortunately closed at 1 o’clock and I had a little bit too much to drink so my boyfriend decided best that we didn’t go to Boogies which is the local club. (very wise now thinking back on how much I had actually consumed even though I had gone on to water!!) Protaras is a very nice area but very English. All in all the holiday was lovely but we have both said that its not a place we would actually go back to. If we ever done Cyprus again we would go to Paphos were we have been told that it was more cosmopolitan. (if that’s true). We have just returned from the Aeneas and had been concerned about all the negative comments we had read. However i am glad to say that we experienced no problems during our stay and were pleased with every aspect of our holiday. Upon arrival the hotel advised us they had upgraded us to a suite as it was our honeymoon which was great, very spacious and much more than we expected. The pool area is lovely, however you do have to get up at 7am to reserve sunbeds! Breakfast, lunch and dinner were all great with a wide veriety to choose from. Anyone who cannot find something they like must have serious food issues!!! Drinks are pricey, we went just up the road one night to another bar and it was half the price of the hotel. Our only slight grumble is that of the pool towels. Every time we tried to get any they said they were all out. Our rep advised that they had ordered extra, however these hadn't turned up by the time we left. Also the reception staff sometimes seemed a bit dis-interested. We had an issue with out safe and they took ages to sort it out and gave conflicting information, however got there in the end. There was some building work still going on around the back of the hotel, however we couldn't hear any of this from our room in the main block or from around the pool. We only new it was there after going to look at the new area they are finishing off. All in all we had a great time, and would definately go back or reccommend this hotel to a friend.

We stayed at the Atlantica Aeneas hotel for two weeks June/ July having read all the reviews, we had nightmares as to what we would find even going as far as four days before departure going to Thomsons and trying to change our holiday to another hotel or destination but they could not find any thing to fit our dates. so with great trepidation we arrived at the hotel. We were pleasently surprised what little building works we saw was only finishing touches and quite a long way from our room. The comments regarding the food ie no choice at breakfast there was every thing from cereals through to apple pie every kind of fresh fruit you could want,the evening meal yes a roast was on every night, but what the prievious reviewer did'nt say was how much more you had, every evening was adifferent theme night Chinese,Indian,French,Italian to name a few,i can honestly say the sweets are the nicest we have had in any European hotel. The rooms are okay ours had a pool view and what a pool,it was more the size of a lake,but very safe also a small childrens pool. We found the staff friendly and could'nt do enough for you, rooms always very clean the sheets changed 10 out of the 14,okay the towels some times not snowy white but changed every day the chamber maid also came early evening with fresh towel if needed and filled up the hospitality tray and left you chocolates. The down side was having to get up at 6-30am to put beach towels on the sunbeds to make sure you got on with a brolly which you needed the temperature was in the high 40s it caused quite a lot of unrest lots of guests going to the reps(who i must say worse than useless told you nothing about hotel or local area only interested in selling the trips) Please don't use the mini bar to store your own drinks ect they charge £5cy which equates to £6-10 sterling per DAY, we asked at reception if we could buy a small fride to leave in the room it would have been cheaper they just laughted at us. All in all we had a good holiday the build up how ever was spoilt with all the negative remarks and also finding we were in the minority of people not on special deals having only paid half what we paid and getting better rooms and all inclusive. We would not rate this a 5 star hotel more a 3plus to 4 star,but would make a return visit this time would look for the price breaker deals and not when is was so hot
