You have to drive up an Italian "white road" for about 2kms to reach Moggiano. This means a dirt track basically, so your car is always covered in dust!
Once there, all you can hear is the buzz of insects, and bird song. A well tended garden blends in with the beautiful surroundings of countryside, olive groves and vineyards.
There are 4 apartments at Moggiano, plus a cottage. We were in La Cantina. It was tastefully decorated with a traditional feel about it. Waiting for us was a welcome basket of basic groceries in the kitchen area. The only downside was cobwebs - lots of them! Although it was clean, the spiders seem to work hard to make it appear unkempt.
The owner, Anna Maria, speaks very little English, but enough to get by. Her mother, who tends the gardens, speaks no English at all, but we still managed to get by on our little Italian.
The towns of Sarteano and Chiusi Alto both have enough good restaurants to keep you going for 2 weeks, if you don't want to do any cooking yourselves, and both have supermarkets to stock up on any produce required.
An excellent area for seeing a good selection of towns in Tuscany and Umbria.
