we have just returned 9.10.2001. from elini paphos. we have been cyprus 10 times before , but this place is 1 to stay away from. i.e. location . middle of nowhere, if you go out at night take a torch. 10mins unlit walk to anything. pools a joke, 1 side in shade all day.... more

Accommodation was in a good location between Paphos and Coral Bay. In the description of the accommodation I thought the hotel would be on the beach, there is however no beach there. The only 'beach' that is near (5 min walk awaay) is in a harbour and was not good at all.... more

I Loved Eleni Holiday Village, The Staff was Great and very welcoming And Best of all the Night time Entertainment was Amazing it was very fun and made us want to stay down all night long.
One of the things that was poor was the area of the hotel it was quite isolated.
I will Definitely be going Back there in the future.

No way a 4star from A TripAdvisor Member
We have just returned from our fifth trip to Cyprus and we stayed this time at the Eleni Village. This is no way a 4star. Everything looked rather faded and very past its best. We were unfortunate to have Room 1902(we dubbed it The Bat Cave). The view from our terrace was of the underground car park (approx 1.5 metres away)and the view from the bedroom window was of the wall and backs of the adjoining villas. All sorts of rubbish was our view, including a generator, old broken sun-loungers, bar chairs and several buckets of a white slimy liquid!!!! The maintainance staff woke us every morning about 7am arriving in their trucks. Although the apartment was clean & spacious there was a problem with ants and we used a whole can of spray and they were still there when we left. The maid came in only when we left green sign on door. Reception staff were helpful and pleasant. If you need to walk to eat the Wisdom restaurant on main road by Azia hotel is wonderful and if you have a car the El Faro in Coral Bay is the best food in all Cyprus (chef trained at Ivy, London). We will go again to Cyprus but definitely not to the Eleni!!!!!

My mum and I went to Cyprus for one week's chill time and we had a fantastic time. The hotel is made up of two storey blocks,there were lots of steps and some were broken so not really suitable for the elderly. The apartment was clean and of a reasonable standard but there was no welcome pack with coffee,tea etc and you were asked to pay a deposit for the television remote and to pay for the security deposit box.This did annoy us slightly as we had never been asked to pay for this before. The food was absolutely fantastic, there was so much choice - some visitors I spoke to said that was the reason that they returned to the hotel. The First Choice rep was quite helpful although we didn't see him much after the first day. We booked on a few of the tours around the island through the rep who was fairly helpful although he failed to mention that one couldn't visit the Monastery of Kykkos with shorts on and a few people on the tour had to wait outside. We couldn't get over how friendly and helpful the staff were. With regards to the ants, that have been mentioned in other reviews - we didn't find them a problem as we wrapped any food we had away. I will probably visit the hotel again although I wouldn't take my children as there is no sandy beach only a small bay a bus ride up the road but nothing to write home about.The beach that overlooks the hotel is extremely rocky and is not suitable for swimming or paddling in so should be taken into account when considering where to stay in Cyprus.

the Elini holiday villageis a fantastic hotel. it has an enormus outdoor swimming pool as well as an activties poll and an indoor pool. the elini aslo has a suna, a gym and massage room. the in hotel entertainment is super there is somthing for everyone. the location is fabulous it is right on the sea so the views are amazing. i have stayed in the elini 4 times and if i was going to papos i wouldn't stay any where else. i have been to cyprus 20 times and if you are looking for a quiet break it is perfect. if you want a bit more of an atmosphere, i reccomend ayia napa, now i supose you are thinking about all youngsters partying but is is only like that in july and august. if you go any other time of year you will love it ther is something for everyone and the beaches a the best on the island.

The Elini is not a 4 star resort, (damaged sunbeds, ripped curtains and could do with a lick of paint)however, it was clean, the staff are pleasant and it makes a good base to tour the area. They have an inherant problem with ants, even in winter,however, if you make sure all food is packed away and sealed they are no bother. It is a pleasant 20 - 30 mins walk into town or the harbour with no shortage of local buses or taxi's if prefered.

We stayed for 2 weeks in early December 2005 and loved it. As 60 year olds the staff put us in a room away from the pool. The room was clean, quiet, and had a balcony with view over the sea. Rooms spacious, and have enough space to cook properly, oven, grill, fridge etc. I could have got 5 folk in our single bedroomed suite for just the 2 of us. Cleaners visit with fresh towels, and loo paper six days a week. Set in cramped gardens on cliff top, it goes down to rocky shore that locals warned me is dangerous when sea is rough, i.e. each day whilst we were there in December. Friendly staff, work hard to handle all needs and queries. Free heating / air con, free satellite TV, just a refundable deposit for the remotes. But only 2 english channels on TV, each repeating news every hour. So learn Greek or take a DVD player! Free underground car park to keep hire car safer, reception take telephone messages if asked in Greek, they didn't understand that much English. Reps also helpful. I did not eat in their diner, as just one foul tea in the bar cost £1.20 cypriot. There is one of the island's best fish restaurants 10 miles up coast at Agios Georgios, and others in Paphos! However I said you take pot luck. There must be about 200 rooms, half of which are around the big pools where kids ran free all day till 11:00pm. Of the remaining 100 on the edge, less than half will have reasonable sea views, others look at neighbours, road etc. I heard one couple complaining about the paintwork in their room, so though ours was fine there must be some in need of redecoration. We squashed the odd insect, but to be expected in a hot climate. The small cats that roam the site delight children, and keep vermin under control! When we were there there was a mix of all inclusives who seemed happy to drink all day around bar and let their kids have a whale of a time with free ices, drinks etc. Others like us were walkers who used Eleni as a base for sleeping, hired cars and spent most time walking coast, adjacent Akamas peninsular or Troodos mountains. It is well placed for such walks, you have lovely 5 mile coastal walk to Paphos one way, Coral Bay the other, or make it a day to walk to the turtle beach at Lara Bay (15 miles). Good buses open up walks further afield, but in December they stop running at 19:00, so you can get stranded after dark, need hire car or a fairly cheap taxi. Hire cars booked for 10 days cost £12 CYP a day at that time of year, or £27 for a single day. Makes 10 day rental a bargain... Eleni is in same "Aqua Sol" group as adjacent Akteon Holiday Village. Akteon is more expensive and better laid out, so at Eleni expect budget fittings, cramped village layout and some noise, but it suited us as we were out walking or visiting the anciemt sites most of the time. We returned too exhausted to try the entertainment. The kids disco ran each night till 11:00 or so, but was fairly well soundproofed in the basement, so did not disturb us on cool December evenings when doors were shut. I could imagine it could be more of a nuisance in peak season.

I stayed here for a week in mid November, and could not fault it. Lovely clean apartments, and maid service every day, although towels were replaced every 2 days. We were self catering, but the option to upgrade to all inclusive is there on your arrival. We ate in the restaurant on the first evening, and the food was lovely, and each night has a "theme". A mini market is available within the complex, but for more variety, there is a small supermarket just up the road. Pool area is lovely, and quite large. As we were there in November the pool bar wasn't available, but wasn't a huge problem. And the sun loungers are not the hard plastic ones!! Entertainment is on nightly, and Billy and Helen, the entertainment staff, are great fun. There are 5 or 6 restaurants/bars a short walk from the complex, if you are self catering, and the Italian restaurant is very good. Buses run every 15/20 minutes into Paphos town, and costs 70 cents.

I loved it there... you never get bored, there's pool, 4 swimming pools, even a shop!!! I made so many friends there and my parents got to know a few Wolverhampton Wanderers supporters aswell!!!

Just got back from our 2 week stay at the Eleni and thought it was great especially if you have children, they have plenty entertainment for the younger ones (mini disco ect/kids clubs) and for the older ones they have video games and pool games. The apartments are nice and clean, although ours didnt catch any light in it or on the balcony, but we did have a fantastic sea view as we were facing the back. The food was good plenty of choice for the adults, seemed a bit samey for the kids though, but most of them only eat chips anyway. One complaint, the alcohol, for all inclusive guests you are limited to the choice you can have , basically if you want anything worth having you have to pay anyway which seemed a bit ridiculous.The lager was very watered down my husband had about 10 pints and was still completely sober.The only drink that got me drunk was the wine but gave major headaches and you get sick of the taste of the same sweet tasting wine they served. All in all great family place, if you have kids you'll love it if you dont chances are you'll hate it, unless your the kind of adult who likes doing the 'cha cha slide'. Also i didnt think the walk to the shops over the road was bad and the bus is running every 10 minutes down to the harbour so for those people who say its in the middle of nowhere i thought it was fine there are about 5 other hotels near it aswell.I would recommend it definatelty but go in season!

well all of the reports i have read about Eleni seemed to have been about right,if you have got a couple of kids and want them to run riot while you lounge on the sunbed,this will be the place for you!also if you are not all inclusive the drinks are a total rip off eg:glass of red wine £1.50,the same wine from the supermarket £0.80 for 1 litre bottle(and its the cheapest make) the draught beer(Keo)is undrinkable,also If you are all inclusive the restaurant is like a factory canteen with about 100 kids thrown in...but you get what you pay for.I paid around £1000 for a family of 4 for 2 weeks( 1 bed apt)the weather was gorgeous, rented a jeep, bought my own beer wine and food from the supermarket (not mini market)and saved a fortune.when i decided to have a day around the pool i just filled up my cool bag no problem.The good points my kids loved it there,rooms are spotless, good friendly staff,and lots of room around very large pools. Please please if you do visit the eleni,leave your england football shirts behind, and were something more in fitting with the holiday spirit.

We went in May 2005 for a friends wedding. We couldn't afford the five star hotel they were all staying at, the Eleni was almost as good as theirs. We were very pleased with the accomodation-great value for money. It was VERY clean and decorated very nicely. I would reccomend the venue. We had a brilliant holiday.
