Submitted By: waynetaThey may be a slight change to the amount of nationalities but that should not worry anyone really. Reviews i read before we went was some what of a worry but i laughed it off and waited to find out for myself what the negative remarks was all about.I shall say this if i did not have a family to think about i would live there and easily find a job.Ok it is a bit out from town but thats ok its a shame that people dislike the eleni because of this but again your choice. There is beaches of easy reach lagoons cars to hire, to visit the island and loads of restaurants.I can name some restaurants that are not good but i wont. But i will give brilliant ones to you.
adalaide restaurant booking only pahos front keep on main road up the hill
about 10 min walk and its on the left.
tea for two paphos front side of macdonalds next right and its on the corner.
fat mamas tomb of the kings road.
angelikas top of the road at the bus stop from the eleni.
then you have KFC,MACDONALDS,PIZZA HUT,ETC.
All the rooms at the eleni are spacious clean and a good maid service. If ever there is a problem it will be sorted a.s.a.p.It makes me feel sad that you cannot please every one but thats life. However the eleni does have a cocktail lounge a restaurant and a club house but i must put my hand up we never used the facilities this time because we always went shopping for our own food and when we ate out we went to our best choices of restaurants, that does not mean that the elenis restaurant is bad it was our choice not to eat on site has we was self catering and we was not tide to the hotel amenties. We have ate there before alot but we had 20 other people there with us in 2006 and most of them was children so we decided to eat on site most of the time.
The staff on reception are very nice but sometimes certain ones looked fed up and tired but us brits are just the same when were are at work.Nothing is too much for the staff and management its a different life style out there and you have to adjust to the way they represent themselves, its not easy for them taking all the agro and to be critised about the way they do there job,its there job and they do it well.
There are reviews complaining pool is dirty, receptionist a ignorant, ants and flies every where, food is crap management dont care rooms are disgusting, those reviews are a load of garbage,if you want 4/5 star holiday pay thousands and go some where else, and may be you will see it does not pay to spend thousands on a holiday and to be tied to the resort,we have to get back for lunch supper finishes at 9oclock we cannot stay out to long we have to get back, you cannot go visiting the island because you wont get your food, readers do you understand what im getting at.Ok im a bit of a babbler but the thing is cyprus is very expensive to start with so stop and think BUDGET.you still get the same sun and sand just like every one else who has paid thousands to stay in a big posh hotel and still complain and being miserable.
I must say i would probably stay any where in cyprus but i choose eleni every time.I cannot understand most of the reviews of complaints just like the management said in his reviews most of the holiday makers who complained did so when they returned home not while on holiday at the eleni, thats wrong it should be said to the management not to the whole world it just gives the hotel a bad mark.Any one who wishes to go to the eleni or who have booked a holiday there it is a basic holiday village but its very clean and brilliant value for money and i love it.Make your holiday work for you financially and prepare for a brilliant holiday in hot sunny cyprusat the ELENI HOLIDAY VILLAGE.
" I booked 4 apartments for our family... "
Submitted By: Mrs B KinzettAlthough we didn't book through First Choice, their resident rep Andy couldn't have been more helpful. We did not see any evidence of towels on poolside loungers, but can imagine this could be a problem at the height of the season.
We did encounter a drainage problem outside one apartment which took 4 days to resolve, partially due to lack of communication between reception staff.
The entertainment was very good. There was a large percentage of Polish holidaymakers at the resort but we didn't encounter any language problems. Eleni's entertainers, Eva & Mohammed remembers names very quickly which makes you feel you're not just a number. They encouraged participation in daytime activities and evening entertainment. I think the families' motto is now "shakey shakey!!"
Previous reviewers stated the drinks are watered down. We found no evidence of this, in fact the cocktails were strong!! The staff in the pool bar were fantastic and always served us with good humour.
The beach adjacent to the hotel is very rocky, although there is an area suitable for swimming and snorkeling a couple of minutes walk away.
We went to Protaras for a day. If you like bars, bars, bars this is the place to go. (not for us)
I would recommend anyone thinking of going to Cyprus to go all inclusive because food and drinks are very expensive. Car hire is also far more expensive than other med resorts. We used a local taxi firm (Chris taxis) It cost 10 euros to go to Paphos. A trip to the Troodos mountains is a must.
Would we book again? Definiately.

Submitted By: Mr Paul NewcombwThe hotel itself was well maintained and the room was always clean (the maid came 5 days a week as she was supposed to) and far larger than we were expecting. The pool was great, far bigger than we were expecting it to be (you know how they take normally the publicity pictures to make things look bigger) we used the loungers on the grass overlooking the sea near the bar so as to avoid the noise and splashing which may have been annoying if we'd sat around the pool. Unfortunately wherever you sat you were forced to leave your towels on the loungers 24/7 simply because everyone else did it so if you didn't as well your lounger would be pinched unless you were up at the crack of dawn. It didn't seem fair at first, but everyone did it so it kind of worked.
The staff were all wonderful, friendly and happy to help at all times. Actually that’s not quite true, there was one lady on reception (brown hair, tall and thin) who was very snotty and gave off the impression she had a million other things to do that were more important than talking to guests (she brushed off a complaint about ants from another guest in front of us in the queue one day with the fabulous comment 'well don't keep food in the room then' and didn't seem to care that the family in question were self catering...) . But as I said the rest of the staff were fantastic, I can't praise them enough as they worked tirelessly in the sweltering heat to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The staff aren't robots and if you're rude to them then they'll probably be rude back and we did witness some poor treatment of the staff by some holiday makers who seemed to think they were there to be their own personal slaves. It made us wonder if these people will come home and write reviews moaning about the staff just because they didn't pander to their every beck and call.
The food was also great, I mean great in the sense of what did you expect from a Cypriot all inclusive at this kind of price. I wouldn't have been impressed if I had gone out to a restaurant and paid £40 for it but as self service holiday buffest go I thought it was fantastic, certainly much nicer than the food on our last trip to Cyprus and with loads of choice there was never any shortage of nice dishes even on the worst nights. The fact that you could always abandon the restaurant during the day and eat bar snacks from Hectors bar meant even if you didn't fancy the lunchtime buffet there was always something to eat. The breakfasts too are worth a mention, the full English was far nicer than you normally get abroad and there was plenty of other choice too.
Location wise people have complained because it's a bit in the middle of nowhere, which is a bit daft. They don't hide that fact and you only have to do a bit of research to see where it is in relation to Paphos. If you're going there wanting to be able to walk into town then you're going to the wrong hotel and it's not the Eleni's fault you booked without checking these things. There is a bus stop about a 5 min walk away that takes you into town and they run regularly throughout the day. We hired a car for our whole holiday so didn't find the location a pain at all, in fact we liked being away from the hustle and bustle of a town.
It looks to me that people are complaining because the Eleni doesn't match up to what a 4 star hotel in the UK would be, which is true. It doesn't. But to be honest going with such expectation is horrible naive, the star system isn't a worldwide standard and what's four star in Cyprus isn't what you'd expect from a similar stared hotel back home and any kind of research could tell you that. It's a cliché but, you get what you pay for, the Eleni isn't pretending to be a top end hotel and is priced as such when compared to other hotels in the same area, so it's a little unfair to criticise it for that when you come home.

Submitted By: Ms C HewlettThe food was fantastic as ever . Chef certainly knows how to cook roast beef ..it melted in the mouth and tasted like Beef . [ unlike many English meals I've had !!!!! ] ., and the cod in mushroom sauce , which had been a hit with my daughter was equally as good as the first time - succulent and tender ..mmmmm.
The hotel staff as always; were friendly and helpful . First Choice no longer have the hotel exclusively so there are a real mix of nationalities there now ... but variety is the spice of life ! - makes for an interesting karaoke night ! lol.
We'll be returning again to the Eleni. It may be a few km's out of Pafos centre .but the buses are frequent during the day- a couple of euro's per journey and there's always a taxi . [ from 8-10 euros to /from Pafos centre /harbour ].
Very sad to be home in miserable , grey , and considerably colder ; England .

Submitted By: Miss N TwydaleFirstly, it is quite far out from the main town but Coral Bay and the harbour are definitely worth going to and the bus service is very good so it wasn't too much of a problem with the bus stop being only a 2 minute walk away.
The rooms were kept very clean, probably because the cleaners tended to ignore the 'do not disturb' sign and would pretty much wake you up so they could clean! Also, would recommend buying ant powder as was a bit of a problem.
We were not originally al inclusive but you have the choice to upgrade if you wish and we did as money was getting a bit tight, Paphos-not that cheap! But the food was varied each night with different themes and there was always something to suit everyone's taste.
The bar served alcohol until midnight even though I am very suspicious of what they put in the drinks... tastes like washing up liquid and never gets you drunk! But there is a shop on the complex selling cheap alcohol, cigarettes and general amenities at good prices.
The pool bar is lovely and the food excellent with great service. The pool was always kept clean and there were plenty of games going on throughout the day which were fun.
The entertainment in the evening is limited but they give it their best, but for a 20 year old couple, it wasn't the best. If you want clubs and bars then Paphos itself has a great strip.
Overall, the hotel was fine, nothing to write home about but nothing to really complain for what we paid, it was value for money. Would defnitely say best suited for families with small children.

Submitted By: Ms Beverly BealesOur room was clean and in a very good position, the maid service was excellent, the whole village was kept free of rubbish. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. I am not usually a fan of the day time entertainment, but I must say that we enjoyed the French boules, the killer darts and the pool games so much.
We made lots of friends and laughed so much at the evening entertainment, Barbara and Muhumed were real gems, so good at getting the holiday makers to have fun. We enjoyed a good breakfast each day, we were greeted by a nice lady who remembered our room numbers as she booked us in, we had continental and English breakfast, plus some local specialities.
It’s very handy having a fridge and kettle in your room. We stocked up with some basics from the onsite shop and another shop just a few minutes down the road. We dined out at the Cavarelle, gorgeous food, very nice restaurant. There are a few nice eating places within walking distance, but we also visited the harbour by bus and taxi, we enjoyed a meal of fresh seafood.
The restaurant owners are quite pushy, as they try to get you to eat there. Just be assertive. We walked every morning along the sea front where there is a paved path that goes all the way to Coral Bay one side, and Paphos harbour the other side.
If there was one thing that I felt the Eleni could have improved on, it would be the fact that the beach/rocks directly below the hotel could be landscaped in the same way other hotels have done just down the coast, they had levelled the rocks and made a bay to swim in and had positioned sun beds on grass. Unfortunately there was some rubbish on the rocks and it did spoil the view slightly.
We would definitely visit again, it’s a family hotel, with an excellent pool, but as a couple you can find a sunbed away from the noise and look out to sea. The poolside bar serves excellent value food and drinks, and again they are very friendly. This hotel is well worth a visit.

Submitted By: Mrs M NewmanWe had serious withdrawal symptoms on our return. AB FAB holiday. The weather was great. The entertainment staff were great - Barbara certainly had her work cut out putting up with my husbands banter!
We met some great people. Location was not ideal for us although it did not take much time to get on a bus. Coral Bay was a must for the beach... Would definitely return again.

Advice: Go go go
Activities: The elephant @ coral bay and the captains tables on the front did the most amazing fish meze
