I have just returned after a one week holiday at the Eleni Holiday Village. The apartment was clean and spacious and as previous holiday makers said before there can be an invasion of ants especially in the kitchen area. Ant spray was administered by the hotel staff and a can of spray left in the apartment for me to use when necessary.
The hotel staff were friendly and efficient but if you are not staying on an all inclusive basis it can be rather expensive. For example a bottle of water bought in the hotel cost one pound compared to 50 pence from the mini supermarket on site. The food was excellent with such a wide choice that catered for everyone's needs. The First Choice holiday reps were excellent and the Kiddies Club was an added bonus whereby parents could have some quality time whilst their children played in a safe and professional environment.
The swimming pool area is lovely but the slippery surface around the pool area can be dangerous if small children tend to run so they need to be watched carefully.
The only real problem I had with the complex was the noise level of a night from the outdoor stage area. Even though the apartments are double glazed the speaker system was extremely loud which did have an impact. The nightly entertainment goes on until 12pm every evening so be warned if you are a light sleeper.
The complex is situated in an ideal setting on the rugged coastline of Paphos but there is no beach as such. There are some small shingle areas within a ten minute walk down to the coastline. The area is rather secluded so if you do want more of a busy atmosphere you do need to either catch a cab into town or use the local bus service which is very cheap and reliable. It's roughly a ten minute walk to the local main road to the bus stops. The hotel staff or holiday reps are on hand to point you in the right direction.

Having read the reviews on this site, we almost cancelled our booking. However, having just returned after 2 week holiday, I can safely say that this was one of our best holidays. My partner and I are in our 40's with a 12 month old and a 5 year old. We all had a great time and did not drink heavily and we're in bed by 10pm most nights and sometimes earlier.
Although the hotel is not within a busy area, there are still some restaurants and hotels nearby should you decide to eat or drink elsewhere. However, in our opinion, having both been in the hotel trade for over 15 years, the food was both varied and excellent. The only thing I would point out is that you are visiting a eastern med island and not middle England. The food will be different.
Previous reviews mentioned ants and admittedly there were ants but you also get ants at home! Finally, the holiday reps and entertainers were 2nd to none and we would revisit this hotel.

My wife and I have just returned from one weeks holiday at the Eleni Village. We picked up a hire car (new) at the airport and arrived to find that the allocated apartment was well above average.
The furnishings crockery and cutlery were of a high standard and all new. The balcony area was large and the sun could be had there all day. Being frequent holiday makers the apartment we had was one of the best we have stayed. On reading reviews it would appear that others were not so lucky. We liked the quiet location but a car is a necessity and the driving easy.
We ate twice in the restaurant if you could call it that. The food was diabolical to say the least, no dress code! Tables next to each other with screaming kids. We would return if same apartment and improvements at the airport. Spent two hours in Q to check in. This is normal we were told.

I visited the Eleni Holiday Village over the Easter week 2006, with my daughters aged 17, 15 and 12. We were on an all-inclusive board basis. The accommodation is spotlessly clean and well furnished. We did have ants in the bathroom, but were immediately provided with an ant-killing spray which did the trick.
The accommodation is arranged in blocks of only two floors, and we were in block 31, right at the end overlooking the sea - away from any noise (although there was very little). Very peaceful - even during the day it wasn't excessively noisy.
Maid service was very efficient. It's great to have green towels as a change from white ones!! All of the staff in the hotel were very friendly and helpful, wherever you encountered them - bar, restaurant, reception etc. Nothing was too much trouble, and they made an effort to get to know you as people, without being over-friendly.
The food in the restaurant was very good - much better than we have had in all-inclusive hotels in Spanish resorts. For one things, they know how to cook meat!! There was a huge variety of choice of salads and main courses, but they don't seem to have much imagination with the desserts. Restaurant service was excellent - you are shown to a table, and if you are in a larger group, they make every effort to prepare tables so you can sit together.
The First Choice service was excellent - flights were on time and the rep (Emma) was friendly and very efficient. Luggage was handled well - on time with no damage done to it. Coach transfers were also very efficient and prompt.
As the First Choice brochure does warn you, the hotel is in a slightly remote location, although the bus and taxi service to Paphos is fine. We hired a car for three days to do some sightseeing - no problems there - driving is great (left hand side) - well signposted throughout.
If you want a holiday with fantastic evening entertainment, then this place is not for you. There is some attempt at a programme, but it's not really up to much. However, this wasn't really a priority for us, so nothing was spoiled. It was very quiet after 11pm, so a peaceful nights sleep was no problem. On the one occasion when some young boys were playing the air hockey game after midnight (and the crashing really does carry across the whole village!!!), one call to reception was all it needed and the noise ceased within 5 minutes - and was not repeated!
Having read the reviews below, I cannot understand the complaints about the extraction units - we never noticed anything at all! We had a wonderful week and would willingly return.

Great hotel my family had a super holiday, food was wonderful and the staff were very friendly you couldn’t ask for more, we were there for a family wedding , even our family at other hotels wished they had stayed at Eleni too.
The rooms were very clean and cleaners always around. I have stayed at the Eleni twice now and have booked again for 07 as we have another family wedding to go to.
Great place to stay.

We have just come back from the Eleni holiday village. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Room was clean and spacious. We where half board and very much enjoyed the food. There was a different selection each night. Breakfast was fab as well, loads of different things to choose from. Even English breakfast (the works)!
As we had a young child, we didn't go out and explore Cyprus. We stayed around Paphos. The harbour was very nice.
I would definitely recommend this hotel. Every one was so friendly and nice!

My husband and I went to Eleni holiday village 2004 I was gob smacked. We had a very warm welcome from the staff and enjoyed every minute of our holiday. Cyprus can be a very expensive place to holiday but we found it more or less pound for pound.
If you like foreign food then great because if your self catering and you buy all Cyprus food then you get it a lot cheaper than getting English products. However back to Eleni the apartments are brilliant the cleaning staff was very sweet and good at there job.
Paphos itself is wicked the weather was out of this world and the surrounding areas to visit are magical. The comments that I have read over the passed year are not what I would expect from British people, if you want waiting on hand and foot then pay thousands and go some where else.
The Eleni is a typical Cyprus holiday village brill and clean we are going again in Oct 2006 to renew our wedding vows of ten years and taking 27 other people with us. First choice are a very good company to travel with and they will deal with your complains instantly with out question. Eleni may be out of a town a bit but what do you want, being in the centre or close to the town with noise and screaming. Drunks then go into a hotel there and be unhappy from the beginning.
Top ratings for Eleni and Cyprus 10/10. Hiring a jeep approx 192.00 a week sterling visit the Adonis waterfall drive the hills hold on for a bumpy ride wicked Aphroditis rock chokes you. My fave beach kourium beach on the motorway through the British village of our British army and RAF.
Any way folks enjoy your holiday who ever you are trust me its fab . Best meals ever restaurants do set menus try kleftiko a huge joint of lamb to your self scrummy, amongst steak platter served on a slab of wood surrounded with fluffy cream potatoes my mouth is watering already. I cannot wait to go in October it is my fave place in the world. Much to say when I live in Blackpool. Bon voyage to all who are going to Eleni and Cyprus.. Wendy Savage.

When your criteria for booking a holiday is flight from Exeter Airport and not being able to take time of until November choice becomes limited. Canaries, Portugal or Cyprus.... Chose Cyprus because we had really wanted to go to Greece or Turkey so in some ways got both anyway. Flight out was on time departing and early into Pathos, transfer was efficient.
Eleni is some 5 miles from Pathos Town centre but doesn't suffer for it as buses were still running till quite late. Studio Accommodation was basic but comfortable. Twin beds when would have preferred a double. Both beds had been repaired (bodged) in the past and one broke midweek. Friendly staff and First Choice reps. We had pre-hired a car for 3 days and drove to various points on the Island, very easy - drive on left hand side - bilingual signs and generally good roads. (However be cautious of Tourist route to Kykko Monastery if driving straight up the Troodos Mountains from Pathos its gravel and unfenced).
Booked an excursion to Nicosia with onsite rep for Cyp£19 same tour from agency five minute walk away was only Cyp£12. Places worth seeing - Tombs of the Kings - Pathos Mosaics - Klossi Castle - Pathos Fort - Kurion - Santuary of Apollo - Green Line in Nicosia. Can't comment on entertainment on site as we went out to eat and enjoy our own company. Caravelle 10min walk very good - Agelikas 5min good. On site Shop generally expensive but cheap for Ledra lace. Two shops within 5 mins reasonable for price (J&S by Jaspers Restaurant best price for Cyprus Delights - - 75c) If you're going to Cyprus spend some time seeing Cyprus, theres 9000 years of history and some excellent food and drink (Halloumi Cheese, Meze, and Keo Beer)
We would go to Cyprus again? definitely, would we return to Eleni? possibly.

Just Returned from Eleni...
Not bad place. Didn’t eat there.... Just had couple drinks before return coach arrived... was a little irritated by bar lady... wiping table twice... when it didn’t need it... and putting my beer on a beer mat... she just came over with!
Decent apartment. Great sea view... only trouble is the plague of ants... which soon over run... the kitchen area.. and get everywhere... I see it mentioned a few time here and.. so.. an ongoing problem.
They were kind enough to let us stay til 6pm... when we should have checked out at 12.
I am "gay"...didn’t come across any similar staff... maybe I am to be enlightened!
not a bad place for all the minor irritations.

Have just returned from the above with my family and we had a lovely holiday.
Some minor points that would make the Eleni a 10/10 are location nothing around about except a few shops and restaurants, buses are fairly frequent at the top of the road however avoid between 10am and 11am as they are over crowded.
Entertainment was average in the evening with a couple of acts being repeated if you are staying for 2 weeks, bingo five nights a week at 9.30pm and entertainment at 10.00 which usually lasted between 45mins and 1 hour.
No toilets at pool or bar level you either have to go back to your room or go up or down flights of stairs in the reception area or next to the small games area.
Food was nice however very repetitive if you were staying for two weeks, salads were lovely, puddings not up to much.
If you have never been to Cyprus before the airport is a nightmare we waited 1hr 30mins for luggage after coming of the plane and the queue going back was just as bad we got 15min in the duty free area before boarding.

I am recently back from Eleni holiday village and I have no idea what these people can say bad about the place!!
The staff were more than helpful and very friendly, the cleaning in the rooms was brilliant, the food gorgeous and the overall place was very well kept.
Ok maybe I didn’t have small children with me but from what I could see there was plenty for children to do all day long including clubs for children and day time activities run by the hotel.
Overall I thought this accommodation and resort was brilliant and would definitely go back again.

First of all I must say that this is a perfectly honest review and not biased one way or the other.
Accommodation - The studio apartment was basic but clean. Maid service was excellent and they called most days to change sheets and towels. You do have to pay £10 deposit for Air conditioning and TV controls at reception but you do get it back at the end of the holiday.
Service - The service by most staff was fair. I didn't find that the staff were over friendly or moody just normal really. I don't think that they made your holiday feel really special. For example I have been places that will make a fuss of the children. Apart from one nice waiter/maitre d the rest were just going about there jobs serving. A bit of friendly customer interaction would not have gone amiss.
Entertainment - There are two animation staff who organise the on site entertainment. Rio was a really nice and genuine chap, not sure about Nellie though. The entertainment was quite poor if I'm being honest. OK if you want bingo every night. They did have the odd act every week but these were of quite a poor standard, maybe buskers who couldn't make enough money in the shop fronts on Paphos beach!! There are also the usual activities during the day such as Boules, Darts, Pool and Table tennis (don't let Rio beat you!!)
Kids Club - Three kid’s club reps. Ran very well my kids really enjoyed the kids clubs, well done to the reps. The one down side was there tendency to change the timetable at the last minute. Although the kids clubs are advertised as free you do have to pay for quite a few sessions.
Facilities - The facilities are basic. A gym is advertised but should not even be in the hotels description as it is pathetic. No weights and the exercise equipment is pre war!! If you want to go to a gym you can use the one at St Georges Hotel next door. There are games machines and an internet ready PC in reception which costs 50c for ten minutes. There are two bars one at the pool which serves food and drink and another bar in the upstairs are which is open at night during the entertainment. The Pools are excellent. One infinity style pool which is the main one, a children’s pool next to the main pool and an upper pool/volley ball pool. These are probably the warmest pools I have ever known on holiday for those of you who are nesh.
Food and Drink - I went all inclusive and the food and drink are OK. Like "all" all inclusive holidays the variation can get quite repetitive but the standard of food served is not bad at all. For those of you who are Brekky lovers they do not serve real English bacon or sausage. The bacon is streaky and the sausages are small fried hot dog style sausages. In terms of the beer served it is not the best. The Lager has very little life and has a watered down taste.
Location - The location was probably one of the main down sides. The Eleni is mid way between the resort of Paphos and Coral Bay, none of which are a walk away unless you're used to tenko style trips. There is not alot to do around the Eleni, no shops to speak of and very few bars if you want to get out of the hotel. There are buses which run quite regularly to both Paphos and Coral bay and cost approx 80c one way journey. Taxis are £5 to Paphos and Coral Bay.
Car Hire - I would advise that you use the local hire company (can't remember the name) which is near the Akteon hotel around the corner from the hotel as it is far cheaper than Sixt that First Choice recommend. I got a 1.3 air con car for £18 a day - minimum 3 days hire and full insurance.
What to do while your in Cyprus - Go up the Troodos Mountains, visit the Kykos Monastry, go to Latchi and Polis these are very picturesque fishing villages and visit the local waterpark ideal for small children and big kids too!!
