We have just returned from Caleta Garden and had a really lovely time. Everywhere was really clean, staff helpful and the only 'complaint' was that there was no entertainment for children. Would definitely go again

  • Advice: really great place for families

I stayed in caleta gardens last year.It was the best holiday I have ever had.The rooms are spotless and have everything you need.It is a very safe place for children. The entertainment was ok but Tony was AMAZING!! He does a lot to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The rest of the staff are very nice aswell. If its your birthday your going away for id keep quiet unless you want to be dragged up on stage and made down a coctail while everyone sings happy birthday, quiet embarrassing :)Overall we had a great time and will be returning.

Caleta gardens family freindly but no umbrellas for sun protection

This was our second visit to Caleta Gardens in 7 years, self catering. The town has grown enormously in that time with lots more shops and hotels. The Pound euro relationship soured our visit as we had the doubly whammy of this plus the annual increases normally found in food shops and restaurants. (Try the Wild West restaurant for family economy if self catering.)
This is a friendly aparthotel with just one deterioration since our last visit. Whilst the sunbeds are free there are absolutely no umbrellas around the pool and you just scortch and burn in the wall to wall sunshine which abounds in this place. It is unbearably hot in direct sunlight. Old foto's show umbrellas so I guess that the accountants have been penny pinching on the maintenance costs of umbrellas. When I asked about umbrellas I was told that there were none. Neither were there any concrete blocks in which you could place your own umbrella (purchased for 9.50 euros down the road.)
So on to the beach where you pay 9. euros for two hamacas and one umbrella. Quite expensive over 14 days and no choice of using your own umbrella.
For this simple reason, no free umrellas around the pool, I would not bother returning to Caleta Gardens when most other places offer sunlight protection, reduced skin cancer risk and an obviously more up-to-date social conscience about skin cancer which we in the northern latitudes are becoming more concerned about than ever before.

  • Advice: Good beach, good shops, don't bother hiring a car as there is nowhere to drive to of any note,
  • Activities: Wild West restaurant for value, quanitiy and Fernando
  • Good For: Beach

Literally just got back from Caleta Gardens. We was a family group of 4 2adults and 2 kids and stayed in a one bed apartment which was fine as the kids stayed on the pull out bed and sofa in the living room. Room was clean had hob toaster kettle and microwave plus pots and pans etc. Had a nice balcony overlooking the pool towards the back of hotel which was great as nice and quiet! Rooms were cleaned every day except sunday and the maids were friendly. Reception was friendly and helpful, you only have to ask for anything and they help out. They do provide freebie sachets of shower gel and shampoo and if you run out just ask for more! Saves packing them!
The netto across the road is expensive! But there is a spa shop in the Atlantico shopping centre. To get there take the beach path right and just follow it all the way (the opposite way from the harbour). It is about 15min walk but it is a nice walk. Worth it for the prices!
Across the road is the Slow boat chinese restaurant, brilliant food! Try the banquets for 2 or 3 people if like us you were a family of four, though we couldnt eat our way throught the three person one! Cost of dinner with two rounds of drinks about 30 euros!
Also the restaurant opposite the mexican is nice and great if you can get hold of the person outside who will give you 20% off card!
The beach - to get to you have walk past netto and keep heading down over two little roads then left and you will see the mini golf course, walk past that to the beach. The beach there is not great but once you get to the beach head right over a beach track and there is a lovely beach on the other side - also it is near to atlantico shopping centre. For nice souveniors in the atlantico near the spa is a shop with ahuge stuffed bear outside, in tehre is lovely things and quite cheap too!
Dont bother with the markets most of the stuff you can find in the shops for cheaper.
Back to the hotel, the entertainment was not 5* but the magic show was very good. Tony the entertainment manager is brilliant with the kids.
For better entertainment visit the barcelo hotel - they had great shows on like starlight express.
Get free maps at the hotel reception.

But I Digress

Hotel - The Apartment was fantastic - I thought myself, my husband and daughter would have to share one room.. but in fact we had two rooms that were beside the outdoor 'balcony area' which was three times the size of the our neighbours blaconies...but I digress; Our apartment was the at the rear of the hotel, on the ground floor, although we had no balcony - we had plenty of floor space externally and privacy that passer's by could not see us as they walk leisurely past...but I digress
The Hotel food was good - I would prefer at breakfast time that the eggs were fried on request rather than left lying there on the hot plate for an undetermined time, but I supopose that's what you get for buffet meals... but I digress
The hotel entertainment - was fine for the children but as I only saw one play - Grease - for all the family - I thought it was rubbish; a lot of mimiming and very little action and I suppose when the drinks are at a reasonable price - who cares!! ...but I digress
The hotel staff was fabulous - except for the receptionist who checked us in- did not tell us about additional fees for checking out late or for pre-booking taxi's... but I digress
The locations is good - only 10 - 15 minutes leisurely walk to and from the beach - via a few bars and cafes which is norm for a resort.. but I digress
Advice - if you are planning on going self-catering - DON'T - unless you plan to eat out every day - which in itself if you are a group of more than 1 will be expensive - the prices at the local netto store is extremly high - a large bag of crisps can be 2.22 euros (with the current exchange rate is pricey!!); an English paper your looking at 2.00 euros; milk 1ltr - 1.09 euro ..but I Digress
In conclusion - we would consider going back - if we got the same apartment and perhaps if this hotel offer AI; we had a good relaxing time for the New Year - and that I cannot digress

  • Advice: It was good place to relax in
  • Activities: chinese restaurant and cafes;
  • Good For: Beach
  • Good For: City Breaks

Hi I have just booked 1 week in the Caleta gardens for christmas. I can't wait. I hope it is as nice as the reviews state.
My only concern is I will get bored but anywhere is better than staying at home with zero temp's.
I just want to tell people before you book CHECK who the tour operator is then check thier web sire...ours was first choice which I only found out AFTER I booked, so I checked the first choice website and the EXACT same holiday was £35 each cheaper.(I would have saved £70 if I had checked!!) So i want to share this so you get the best deal, cos I won't make this mistake again! and if your in a large group this could be a massive saving.
Thanks :0)

this was our third visit to caleta gardens, and we had a great time as always! the apartments are quite basic but they have everything you need, and are kept spotlessly clean. the staff are great, especially eva at reception.
try nestors restaurant along side the apartments as the food is excellent. give the chinese buffet across the road a miss as its awful!!
if you like watching sport and having a bet, then give the step inn a try, its just past fado rock, you will be given a warm welcome and they do a mean breakfast!
if you walk up to the atlantico shoping centre via the beach, stop off at the bar thats built out on the rocks at the end of the pier, its the most relaxing place to sit and enjoy the view.

We have just got back from Caleta gardens, and had a great time. The apartment was very clean and well catered for self catering, the staff were all very nice and happy to help. As a couple that do not have children, it can get a bit noisy around the pool during the day so went out most of the time, to the beach which is a very short walk away where there is some great snookling to be done just of the rocks. We also found the evening entertainment a bit hidehi bultins style, but there is a nice patio area with outside bar to get away from it. The apartments are right near everything from the supermaket directly across the road to gift shops and eating places. Overall Caleta De Fuste is a lovley place to go, feeling safe to walk out and about, no clubs and lager louts, people very freindly, food great apartments quite at night and no one running around, great holiday for familys and coupleswould defenitly return again soon.

Oct 2008, Miss S Gray

me and my partner booked in to the caleta garden apartments in fuerteventura for 1 week. these apartments/ or studios are excellent, very basic but clean and in the middle of the resort centre. 600 metres from the beach, shops bars, restaurants over the road, there is a market on a saturday outside of the apartments. dont be fooled by getting on the coach at the airport, if you remember try to not book your transfers as you can get a taxi for 10-15 euros. the airport is only a five -10 minute drive away. we are going back in january 2009, this time flight only, booking into the caleta gardens separately its alot cheaper.

My husband and I returned to UK on...

Sep 2008, Mrs S S  Ponting

My husband and I returned to UK on Sunday 21 September 2008 at 1.30 in the morning after 2 weeks break. We had a lovely time. The resort is quiet, suitable for young families and young/matured couples. The weather was very hot. It is 10 minutes from Caleta Gardens to the partly man made sandy beach. There are so many international restaurants. We visited Tommy Nutters cafe as he has a wide range selections of English food and they are excellent value for money. You do get a free bottle of wine with your meal in the evening. The apartment we stayed was very clean. The cleaners cleaned our room and changed our bed linen every other day. The hotel staffs do the cleaning around the swimming pool daily.
There are low flying aircrafts coming in to land as the airport is 10-15 minutes drive to Costa Caleta. We visited Piero's the music cafe and the entrance is free with professional shows, quiz game, cabaret, karaoke every night and more.. Please visit their website www.pieroscafe.com

We have just returned from the Caleta...

We have just returned from the Caleta Garden after a 2 week self catering holiday which we enjoyed very much I will try and be as comprehensive as possible, the apartments are right in the middle of the resport so is only a short walk to all the resturants and bars of the resort, we were not disturbed by noise however we overlooked the pool and bar not the road, I would say these are the better rooms to have. The central location did cause a little problem with parking if you hire a car as it doesnt have a carpark but there were always some space on the road behind the apartments. Our studio apartment was clean and tidy with 2 single beds which we pushed together (the cleaner kept putting them back which was a little annoying but funny 'spanish birth control' lol) and the kitchen area was well stocked with cooking equipment such as 2 ring hob, Microwave, toasted sandwich maker, toaster e.c.t. it was serviced every other day with fresh towels and the sheets were changed once a week. The pool area is clean and pleasant however it does suffer from having a lack of sun bed space so if you arn't down early you can miss out, due to the enclosed design of the complex the poolside doesnt really get any of the breeze so can get VERY hot at times (that is why we go there I suppose) but the salt water pool is refreshing and clean. There is an adults only sun terrace on the roof with sun beds, showers and a jacuzzi. The bar is well stocked with lovely staff however it is a little understaffed so you can be waiting for awhile to be served at certain times of day. There is a restauant on-site which to be honest we didn't use as we heard a few dodgy reports about but there was a new chef starting and people are all different so maybe it was just them. The reception staff were lovely and helpful making changing money e.c.t an easy experience, we had a problem with our sink blocking, I informed the reception and the problem was solved within 30mins!! most impressed and when we arrived I asked about a fan for the room and they delivered one within the hour (which was free of charge) . The entertainment was varied and enjoyable, there was the kids club run by Kamilla and Sandra at 12pm and there is a soft play area in the corner of the main bar for the smaller kids in the evening, there were daytime activities such as water polo, beach volleyball and tennis starting at 2pm and in the evening there were outside acts most nights and the usual bingo, mini disco and play your cards right every night before the show, Tony the entertainment manager was great fun and was always up for a laugh and Kamilla and Sandra were always bubbly and a great laugh too.
Overall this is a nice clean apartment complex with lovely staff and a really good central position within the resort. We have no bad comments about the holiday. Essay over now and I hope this helps.
