Holiday Inn Alicante - Playa de San Juan

Hi, stayed here 12-17 August. Booked it because it has wi-fi, so I could stay in touch with my business while away... Wi-fi connection is poor, had about 30 minutes connection over the 6 days there. I would not go there again if I wish to connect to the internet. Stayed there with my wife & 5 year old son, in a family room. Swimming pool is great, my son loved it. My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights in July 07. The other reviews are not wrong when they say the hotel is difficult to find, once passed the hospital follow the signs to San Juan beach then when you see Macdonalds on your left the hotel is more or less at the end of the road on your right. The hotel was very clean and the staff where friendly and helpful. The room was fairly small but fine for 2 nights and we over looked the pool. We visited Alicante the last w/e in May 2007. I booked the Holiday Inn due to it's established name and brand and it did not disappoint. Friendly accomodating staff, good food and good clean air conditioned rooms. Location could be better but not a reason not to go back. The area was VERY quiet but largely due to it being pre-season. Outside of the hotel and in Alicante in general you can expect the language barrier to be an issue - much to our surprise. It helps to have some Spanish phrases. Recently returned from a 6 night say at The Holiday Inn Playa de San Juan. Before booking I checked previous reviews which seemed to indicate this would be a good choice. Thanks to openness of Trip Advisor, it proved to be spot on. Arrival was early evening and the desk staff had everything to hand to ensure a swift check in except that they checked us in to a no smoking room. We stayed at the Holiday Inn at Playa de san Juan in September. This is a nice hotel, with a good, though smallish pool which is usually quiet, good for getting sunbeds. Hotel provides towels for pool area. Avoid the pool lunchtime menu though, over priced and undercooked food. Located in a residential area with lots of surrounding concrete, so a car is recommended. We stayed here for a week in July 2006 and found it excellent. It is a fairly modern hotel in good condition ,clean and well maintained. The rooms are large, well equipped and comfortable. There are always at least 2 staff on reception and they are very friendly and helpful. The fairly large pool and surrounding areas are well designed and very clean. We just spent a week there over Easter 2005. The standard is good as you would expect from a Holiday Inn. The staff are well-trained and helpful. It's about a 10-minute walk down to the San Juan beach, although the southern end is currently a building site as the promenade (paseo maritimo) is being rebuilt. Further on, you can walk several miles north along the prom as far as El Campello. The swimming pool at the hotel is well laid out and usually quiet. My wife and two girls stayed here for the second time in just over 12 months and I can heartily recommend it. During both stays we had really good rooms. The pool is excellent and the staff very helpful and friendly. Breakfast is great including both cold continental and hot platters. It's close to the Player San Juan, a long clean beach, and a shopping area which includes a supermarket. A warm welcome when we arrived, despite being late in the night. Excellent service throughout our stay. Staff very helpful, friendly and attentive. Prices in minibar very reasonable and altogether , prices very good. In a good place for beach and very near many bars, restaurants and shops. A hotel that made our stay in Alicante more memorable. Hard to find? get a taxi right outside airport.

First class at £99 for three nights. Work going on rebuilding the pool, so lack of facilities but little disruption. Can thoroughly recommend it, but took over an hour finding it as map on web well out of date.
