Kanapitsa Mare Hotel

My husband and I have just returned from a week's holiday at Kanapitsa Mare Hotel in Skiathos. We flew with First Choice and it was a very pleasant flight, the plane was clean, new and the service on board excellent. I really reccomend First Choice. My wife and I satyed at the hotel at the end of May on our way to Skopelos - having arrived in Skiathos a day before our start date in Skopelos. We could not have had a better start to the holiday - the staff were all so friendly, the hotel clean, everything was available for us and the breakfast in the morning was very good. We found the Kanapitsa was an excellent place to relax away from the bustle of Skiathos. Set in its own bay, it was an easy walk down to the beach, for the lazy, and the Dolphin Diving Centre for the more energetic who like to get seriously wet. Other water sports are also on offer. On an evening there are good beachfront and local restaurants again within 5 minutes and we particularly liked Johnny's. We had a nice room (de-luxe) with a lovely view of the bay. My husband and I spent 7 nights at The Kanapitsa Mare at the beginning of September. We stayed in a deluxe room which appeared to have been recently renovated. It had an ample bathroom with bath and shower, hairdryer and toiletries. The bed was comfy and aircon worked well. The pool area was lovely (adult & childrens pool) and the views from our balcony and the pool area were amazing. My wife and I visited Skiathos for the first time this year. I decided that Kanapitsa Mare was our choice mainly because of the high-speed internet in the room which I needed for my work. We booked a "Superior Deluxe room" from the Hotel's own Website and I have to say that this was one of the best rooms I have stayed EVER on a holiday trip. We have visited Skiathos many times and have stayed in several hotels on the island. For the last four or five visits, we have stayed at the Kanapitsa Mare Hotel, overlooking a beautiful bay with surrounding wooded slopes sweeping down to the sea and breathtaking views to nearby islands. The Kalamaki Peninsula, where the Kanapitsa is situated, is delightful with secluded coves, fabulous private houses nestling among the pines and excellent tavernas within walking distance. The Kanapitsa Mare Hotel is up on a small hill overlooking the Aegean but within walking distance of a supermarket, the beach (with lounge chairs, umbrellas, a taverna, AND scuba diving). The facilities are beautiful-from the furnishings, to the sea water pool (with lounge chairs and coverings), the breakfast (which is included), the owner, and the staff. I wanted to share my fantastic experience with you, in regards to my trip in Skiathos. We stayed at Hotel Kanapitsa Mare in the middle of August for 10 days in a room with an unbeattable sea view on the third floor. The staff in the reception were amazing, and extremely helpful-they offered great suggestions for things to do as well as restaurants and bars. Message for prospective visitors in SKIATHOS: DO NOT VISIT KANAPITSA MARE HOTEL in Tzaneria!! We visited the hotel under discussion on August 2005( 10-14) Even though we paid 80 euro per night the room we were given was not worth a penny of it. It all started the very first day of our arrival when we were told that our room wouldn't be ready until 5.00 a.m. in the afternoon!(the check-in time is 12.00). We went here back in 2002 and quite frankly I havent had as good a holiday since, so have just booked to go in June of this year (2005). We went the first two weeks of June, the weather was hot enough but not too hot, the hotel was fairly quiet and some days we had the pool to ourselves which was great.
