De Colegio Hotel

Easily the best of the 4 stars hotels if you are looking for a central location near most of the bars and restaurants. Characterful old building with a nice bar and the best restaurant in town(although not the cheapest). Rooms are very good and clean, pool is fairly small - if you are looking to spend a lot of time lazing by the pool, one of the bigger hotels further out of the centre, like the Royal Garden would be a better choice.

A comfortable hotel, close to the pretty centre of town, but still fairly quiet. Formerly a school, it's been remodelled sympathetically. The food and service at its restaurant, A Colmeia, are very good. The outdoor pool is small and enclosed on four sides by the hotel but open to the sky - fine for kids to splash in, but no more.

Great Hotel Rooms in the older part of the Hotel are very generous size. Standard rooms in new part of hotel are not as nice. Great Decor throughout. Could recommend more highly. I found a cheaper price on a booking site but colegio matched it without any hassle.

If you are looking for a hotel in the centre of the old city of Ponta Delgada, this is the one to choose. It's a fascinating old building. Bedrooms are modern and very comfortable - most are on the outside of the building, which occupies a small block, so overlook the street. The small courtyard pool is refreshing and there is a sauna, steam room and small exercise room. Breakfast is good except for the packaged juice. After reading the reviews, I was really looking forward to staying in this hotel. They claim as well to be the best hotel in town - and prices follow this belief. Well, I don't know, maybe I just got the worst room of the hotel (anyway, I booked a room for 7 days two months in advance..............), but: - the room was big but very "poor", it really looked sad. Being at the first floor and facing the pool and the restaurant I had to keep the curtain always closed. -the frigo bar didn't work.<br... more

The most excellent hotel in são Miguel Island! Very good service, beautiful architecture and the most excellent cuisine!!!! If you go to this hotel you can´t miss the "colmeia" restaurant in the Hotel...theres no words to discribe...just go there!

We stayed at the Hotel de Colegio for 4 nights to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and to start our 5 week European holiday. We paid 195 euro/night for the honeymoon suite. The facilities were nice but, unlike other reviewers, I don't think they were "special". I can't help but feel I paid way too much. Stayed three nights at the Hotel do Colegio in Ponta Delgada. The hotel is located about five minutes walk away from the center, near the main town areas. The do Hotel do Colegio is a old school, but converted in a modern and comfortable Hotel. The hotel has a pleasant swimming pool with towels, sauna etc. The hotel has a restaurant and the quality of the evening dinner was very good. CAUTION the restaurant close at Sunday. Stayed three nights at the Hotel do Colegio in Ponta Delgado in June 2006 The hotel is set back from the harbour about five minutes walk away. The location is near the main town areas which is easy to walk around. The marina and swimming complex are about 10 -15 minutes stroll away. New marina being built at time of visit.
