We've just returned from 5 nights at Palazzo Sasso, and whilst the staff were all wonderful - especially the manager Antonio, there were significant problems. The hotel is VERY noisy. Our room was next to a service stairwell in which we could hear the bar staff clattering bottles and working both early in the morning and late in the evening. The walls are very thin, resulting in noise penetration from both the bar (where they play piano music until at least midnight) as well as screaming babies in the other rooms. Next door the hotel... more
Perfection...
My wife and I were on our honeymoon, and stayed in some fabulous establishments all over Italy. The third part of the trip was 4 nights at the Palazzo Sasso. When we arrived, they bumped us up to a Junior Suite at no extra charge. We ate dinner that night at Rosselini's, and the food was exquisite, although it did force me to go out of my comfort zone when it came to ordering! Breakfast, which was included in the price of the room, was phenomenal...actually the best that I've seen anywhere in Italy. There are two Jacuzzi Hot Tubs on the... more
One of the best but...
The palazzo Sasso is pretty well all its admirers say it is. My wife and I stayed there for a week last year. However we did have the impression that it is inclined to rely too much on its terrific location in Ravello perched over the sea below. There is piped music on the terraces which is what you would expect in your supermarket but intrudes when you want to luxuriate with a good book in the tranquility of this beautiful oasis.Fortunately it is sufficiently muted to be tolerable, but who wants to listen to some other persons choice of... more
Above the clouds
...or was that merely ground fog? In any event, 2004 season is off and running -- just returned from 8 days in Compania with Palazzo Sasso the highpoint. Antonio and Jacquline at the desk, Carmen directing traffic at breakfast and other staff superb in making your stay enjoyable. Re-design of structure spectacular and rooms notably laid out, maintained and immaculate. As to Rosselini's, choose wisely and enjoy finely executed, daringly different items; as to wines, stay with local Aglianico varietals to get value. This place and... more
Paradise in Ravello
I booked the Palasso Sasso as a gift for my husband's 50th birthday and our 27th wedding anniversary. From the moment we arrived, we felt that we had been transported to paradise. Our luggage unfortunately was lost for two days. The hotel bent over backwards to try and help. We had nothing but our traveling clothes and yet, we were made to feel like kings and queens in their dining room. The food was wonderful, the martinis were sensational. Every time we came back from exploring Ravello or a day trip to Pompeii, we were welcomed back by the... more
Most enchanting spot
I thought the property, views and service were outstanding even by comparison with similarly priced high end hotels in Italy and Southern France. I also would recommend staying in Ravello over the touristy Positano. Ravello still feels authentic and especially at night not overrun with English speaking tourists. It is the kind of town where you can sit in the village square with the residents and watch their kids ride bikes and then have a romanticwalk along the edge of the hill and see the moon reflected on the sea.
Palazzo Sasso and the superb Ristorante Salvatore
We had a tremendous 3 night stay at the Palazzo Sasso. We had opted for one of their 'internal rooms' (decadent wedding and honeymoon has left us poor!), had prepared ourselves for a small room and was pleasantly surprised. It was decorated very tastefully, and although small it was dominated by a King bed (very comfortable) and the bathroom was good enough (bath and decent shower). Very large people may find this room a bit annoying, but for us average folk we were very happy. I just loved the... more
Palazzo Sasso
We have have a tradition of getting "above our raising" on the last night of our trips. We stayed at 3 and 4 stars hotels on our trip to Italy, but on the last night we sprung for the Palazzo Sasso in Ravello after reading the reviews and seeing the hotel. It is a phenomenal hotel - certainly not cheap - but worth digging deep for. We paid Euro 350 for a quad room, and that was probably a goo deal based on some of their posted rack-rates. The hotel is in a 12th Century building making up several floors and layers over the cliff of... more
The Palazzo Sasso is amazing....
We just returned from our honeymoon and stayed four nights at the Palazzo Sasso. It is an amazing property, and a complete hotel. The service and staff was incredibly accomodating and the service is excellent. We actually had a problem with our room when we checked in, and I can only say that we had nothing like the experience a previous post on this site had. We were booked in to a mountain view room, which is fine because the hotel has some many common areas that you really don't need to pay to have a view from your room. Of course, if you... more
Fabulous hotel
Spectacular views overlooking the sea and the Amalfi Coast. A room with a balcony is a must, even if the views are everywhere including areas for breakfast, lunch and dining. Food and service are excellent. And it is situated at the top of Ravello, the town of choice on the Amafi Coast, because of its authenticity, its gardens , its tranquility and its proximity to others towns. We stayed 5 nights and we rated it at the top. It is by far the best hotel on the Amalfi Coast.
