We booked this hotel as a last minute break. I was impressed when we arrived as reception is quite impressive. Unfortunately the four stars stopped there. The rooms were basic and in need of refurbishment, which surprises me as it is not an old hotel. There was a permanent... more

Keep an open mind
Went to the Gran Bali, Benidrom on 12 October 2004 for 1 week only, Full Board. It lived up to 4 star reputation. Plenty of choice for the Food, but cooked Spanish style, There did seem to be plenty of choice for children and adults. 2 restaurants, one seating 870 and one about 1200. The restaurant downstairs seemed to have the best choice of dishes. Breakfast was sufficient with English suasage, Bacon Eggs, Beans, Tomatoes etc. Plenty of cheeses, hams and yoghurt. For lunch and Dinner, Soup, Salads were varied and a Chef cooked Main meat and fish dishes as you waited. Vegetables were a little soggy, but Spanish style and if you searched around there was quite a choice. The Bus service into Benidorm was excellent, every 15 minutes. No.5, Just a short walk from the Hotel, and only 1.70e. for 2 people into Benidorm. Large Cinema was not open Thankfully. Swimming pools were not heated, but staff at the hotel were helpful, "sometimes".
gone downhill.
I have just returned from the bali with my partner after a weeks stay. this is our third visit.we had to wait in the restaurant every morning in line for food to come out of the kitchens, and by the time u got to the servery, food, eg eggs had gone. the hotel has always been nice to stay in, but on our arrival home, it was discovered that 110 pounds worth of goods had been taken out of our luggage prior to vacating the room. I will not be visiting the hotel again.
TRIPE IN TOMATO SAUCE AT THE BALI !!!!!!!!!!
Very impressive from the outside,a lot to be desired from the inside.the food was rubbish(chips...pork....chips....pork.......even tripe in tomato sauce :-( the pool area was ok with a good size pool a little cold though.we were lucky with the room tho as my girlfriends mum upgraded us to a suite but the cherry on the cake is the "so called entertainment" they wouldnt go a miss in the rocky horror show...as for the the way they sound"very diffrent"staff were ok if you could make them understand you.Wouldnt recomend this hotel.
Very good hotel
After reading some negetive comments on this site i was abit cautious about this hotel but glad my reservations were unfounded. First impressions were excellent, an amazing looking hotel. Rooms were tastefully decorated well equipped. We stayed in the newer building and we used a shower room in the older building and must say the quality of rooms is noticeable. The newer building's rooms were alot better. Food was average, althugh alot of the same dishes served all the time. Good variety of salads etc though. Staff were very helpful, and all of them had a good basic level of english. Pool area was very nice, saw no evidence of broken glass as all the drinks were served in plastic cups? Nice freeform pool PLenty of sunbeds at no extra charge. The hotel was busy with a spanish wedding on the Saturday but then what do people expect? You ARE in Spain? Offered the best quality accomodation in Benidorm, in the la cala area which is a predominantly spanish area. Only a 7 euro taxi ride away from the levante beach area and "the square" where all the main english pubs and clubs are. Highly recommended would definitely go again
!!!!Warning!!!!! do not stay at this hotel as it only caters for the spanish
when my wife and i went to stay in the gran bali we thought wow how wrong were we the hotel only cater for spanish people and the food is absolutely garbage,my wife and i ate out the whole time we were there,if you needed to see a rep there was never one to be seen, the worst part was it is in the middle of nowhere,no nightlife whatsoever the nearest pubs and clubs are about 2 miles away my advice is steer well clear, and for the room service my wife tried to order something and ended up having to go 47 floors down to collect it herself because they didnt understand what she was saying, when we where there not a single british tourist to be seen or heard of all spanish which really did my head in,if it was up to me i would burn the place down, well and truly the worst holiday of my life,as the location spoiled the rest of the holiday
Excellent!! Will go back again
Just returned from a weeks holiday at the Grand Hotel Bali. Food was excellent (kids and adults), room was clean and modern. Staff were very freindly and helpful. Entertainment was largely Spanish (but hey, we were in Spain!). Bus stops are located very close to hotel so easy to visit other parts. Will certainly return to this very nice hotel. One tip: try speaking a few words in Spanish (just hello and how are you) and see how warm the response is.
Excellent
Firstly may I say: Buenas Tardes,Hotel Gran Bali EXCELLENTE. WHEN IN SPAIN DO AS THEY DO AND SPEAK THE LINGO Hotel clean .good food , good staff, good pool area. People who come here expect every thing to revolve around us Brits, well make an effort, your in another country, other cultures other food sit back relax and enjoy this fantastic Hotel. The staff are fine if you try to talk a little Espanol Muchas gracias Hotel Gran Bali.
'Great' Hotel Bali
We have just returned from a 1 week stay at the Gran Bali. We found the staff very friendly and helpful. Some of them speak English better than others, but we found out that if you kept your sentences short and sweet, there was no problem in getting your point across. The hotel is very impressive from the outside. It gets better once you walk up the red carpet and through the revolving doors into the reception/lobby area. Huge glass windows overlook the pool area and ornate water fall with marble tiled floors so clean and shiny you can see your face in them. Our room on the 6th floor of building 1 was just as good, very clean, more marble tiled floors with mini-bar, satellite TV with a few U.K channels plus pay per view movies if one wishes, phone and a fantastic air con system. The bathroom was just as impressive, more marble, 1 shower cubicle and a bath with another shower unit. We found the food to be very varied to cater for both Spanish/English tastes and of a high standard, even though it was cooked in a Spanish style. The pool and sunbathing area was very clean with a poolside snack bar. It is well worth a trip up to the top of building 2, the views are spectacular. The only real downside to the Bali is the scruffy outdoor cinema behind it. It did go on till late some evenings and was a bit loud. The entertainment was also in Spanish, but the Bali is a very Spanish hotel and does not revolve around “us brits” as some people think all Spanish hotels should. Overall, we would give the Bali an excellent 9 out 10.
Disappointed
Well, what can I say? 4* definately not!! My fiancé and I went to the Gran Hotel Bali at the beginning of July. We opted not to go for a cheapie but to pay that bit extra for a 4*. (Our first mistake) The cost was £700 for a week.. Oh how I wish we`d gone on a cheapie instead. Would`ve been half the price & probably better than what we got! The food was of a poor standard, some nights were better than others I have to say, but definately the worst food we`ve ever had. The rooms were shabby although cleaned every day, the reception was not English speaking & the entertainment was poor. All in all, Not a memorable holiday. A plus point: The drinks were cheap-ish for a Hotel but you needed a few to `enjoy` the entertainment! I would not recommend this hotel to anyone (unless they were Spanish) All I can say is: Thank goodness we didn`t take the kids!! We will not be returning!!
Very Poor, BEWARE !!!
My wife and two children arrived on the 31 July 2004 for a 2 week stop. First impression was wow what a great hotel...... How wrong can first impressions be? This hotel only likes the Spanish holiday makers, the staff from cleaners to management are rude and ignorant. The food was a disgrace for a 4 star, we would not even say it was up to 2 star standard with no suitable food for children. The swimming pools are a health and safety hazard with many children and adults cutting them selves on glass both in and around the pool, on one day alone we picked up 30 pieces of glass around the square pool, but worst still a charming Spanish child decides to use the square pool as a toilet and deposits her excrement in the water. The entertainment was only for the spanish and they are more noisey than us Brits!!!, also an open air cinema is next door to the hotel so dont expect to get any young children to sleep before 2am. This hotel is also a taxi ride away from any decent entertainment in Benidorm....Beware you have been warned.
