We stayed in the little detached cottage which is part of the Zaga Apartments. It has a wide veranda with outstanding views of the beach and sea and a little garden to one side filled with orange, grapefruit and lime trees and Bouganvilla. The cottage was nicely furnished and equipped and really could not be faulted in anyway. The location is fabulous, very quiet and peaceful and its ideal for a romantic holiday for couples. The beach is extremely close and the beach taverna serves very good food. Also the snorkelling is good around the rocks to one side.
It takes only a short walk to the castle and monastery and about ten minute walk down to the town - longer to get back as it involves a large amount of cobbled steps! Ladies - don't bother taking high heels and this is definitely not for anyone with walking difficulties!
Down in Koroni there are loads of good tavernas to eat and a few shops and there is no touristy commercialism - we spotted only seven English couples during our whole stay and a small amount of Germans - everyone else is Greek. However, the waiters speak enough English to understand your order but in the mini markets they often didn’t speak any English and you need to try out a little Greek!
The beaches are beautiful and the sea crystal clear. Hire a car and explore the beaches and towns - you can often find a beach all to yourself - and the roads are so quiet. Apparently this all changes in July and August when the Athenians descend upon Koroni and it is chaos - so best avoid during these months.
A perfect holiday - most suited to people who have stayed in Greece before but want a more authentic place to stay without being spoilt by tourism.
