we arrived late at night and had sea view the room was basic but very clean , the a/c was definatley needed at 4 euros a day it had a fridge for 1.50 euro a day but i thought it was silly to pay for the fridge as it should be included in the price you pay for holiday the pool was welcoming especially after the heat we had ,beach is 1 min walk ..the only let down was the breakfast juice thats not diluted , cheese, garlic sausage ,jams and bread not forgetting the odd day we had boiled eggs so i suggest you have breakfast out.. it was quiet the staff were great the bar man yanis loves himself and tries to get in to every females pants .... there were NO cockroaches teh rooms were cleaned daily
The best palce to eat was the ROSE & CROWN opposite the hotel food FANTASTIC and staff sooo friendley , The chinese reasturant was fab 9.80 euros all you can eat ,
DON'T eat at the fox and hound me and husband suffered with bad tummys food awfull staff ignorant. best shop was called VENUS
You can hirer quads for 15 euros ,
We walked to MALIA omg what a awfull place to go.
All in all a great place to go for couples and familys

Returned to hotel for second year running following a wonderful holiday last year. What a let down. A change in management and staff has totally changed the hotel. The cleanliness of the room left a lot to be desired and purchasing a bottle of bleach was first on the agenda.
The pool area was left each day with the remnants of the night befores partying and hardly any of the sunbeds were useable, making it difficult to relax and chill, which was much needed after many sleepless nights. The once quiet pool bar has become a hive of activity, often until 3 or 4 am, with the bar staff making most of the noise.
The breakfasts were basic and boring and the bread must have been up all night too.
this resort is just outside a much livelier holiday destination but this hotel last year was relaxing, quiet and tranquill. the brochure still advertises it as such, which i believe misleads you.
Stalis itself is lovely, with nice walks and many good eateries so dont be put off the resort, just choose your accomadation carefully

We have just returned from a...

Sep 2008, Mrs K. E. Ashton

We have just returned from a fantastic holiday in Stalis. (Our third stay in the resort.)
This time we stayed in the beach front hotel 'Christiana Beach'.
The hotel was bright, colourful and very clean and comfortable. It satisfied all our needs for a relaxing break. All staff were friendly, courteous and very helpful. We had many conversations with Manager Dorthe, originally from Denmark, who told us a lot about the hotel's history etc., and who was extremely conscientious and dedicated to her job. There was a Greek Manager also who, I believe, was responsible for the buildings and maitenance side of the hotel.
The receptionists always gave us a warm welcome, assistance and local information as required.
The cleaner worked hard and thoroughly and although she did not speak English communicated adequately.
Our room was basic but our bed was very comfortable. The room was cleaned and beds made 6 days a week. Linen and towels were changed twice weekly.
As is usual we paid the local rate for air conditioning and a little fridge but both were well worth the extra.
Billy and George, the pool bar staff, were also friendly and cheerful, starting at 10am
and working until the last guest had left at night, sometimes in the early hours.
The breakfast was continental plus with plenty to eat and a cooked breakfast could be bought at the same price as that in local tavernas if one was wanted.
The gardener was continually tending the gardens, lawns and plants. The climbing shrubs were beautiful.
The view from our room balcony was suberb. Overlooking the pool and lawn we had fantastic views of the beach and sea. Other rooms not having a sea view would look out towards the mountains.
Sunbeds around the pool and lawn were provided free. (Dorthe explained that some of the newer ones had been very disappointing as they had soon broken. Since everything else was so well maintained I am sure that they will be replaced for the next season).
The location of the hotel was perfect being on the beach road at the quieter end of Stalis but still near to the restaurants, shops and supermarkets.
We especially enjoyed meals at nearby Sergiani's and Camelot's.
We will certainly stay at the Christiana Beach Hotel in the future and look forward to then.

we renamed the hotel 'fawlty towers'. to begin with on arrival we were left in reception with little or no information to be eventually told vaguely where our rooms were. we then had to climb two flights of stairs with our luggage. the rooms were basic but clean altho the towels and sheets were only changed twice a week and were mostly threadbare. the shower was ok but the extractor fan didnt work and was never repaired. all the sunbeds round the pool were broken and the area was messy with empty glasses food from previous day not cleared hence a few cockroaches were spotted. the breakfast was unbelievably bad, bread, processed ham etc and disgusting orange juice. The caretaker was usually seen at 8.30 in the morning swigging out of a beer bottle and usually left at least one hose guaranteed to trip some unsuspecting guest. In the end we spent all our time at the adjoining hotel especially when 'the family from hell' arrived and was allowed to take over the entire pool area in a rowdy ignorant manner, driving other guests to do the same as us. I would under NO CIRCUMSTANCES ever recommend this hotel to anyone! however the resort and the locals were lovely and i would return there..in a different hotel of course!

Whilst we did not stay at the Christiana Apartments (we stayed at the Belair with First Choice which was very good) it was our favourite Taverna. Cristo and Sabina are a lovely couple and we ended up their on most nights their after days and evenings out around Lefkada.
On the last day when we could not book a late room at the Belair (it's against their "policy" to do this) Christo arranged for us to use one of the Christiana rooms to shower and change making the journey home more comfortable.
Go and see them if you're visiting Nidri, whoever you go with.

Jan 2008, Mr B Martin

This hotel was not all that great really. The rooms were small and not really that clean. Staff were not all that helpful.
I think that I maybe expect more than I should from a 3 star hotel though.
The pool was nice but not very big and always crowded. Was quite concerned for smaller children in the pool as there were so many older kids jumping in etc.
The great thing about this hotel thought was that it is overlooking a beautiful bay and is right on the beach front. It’s not far too local nightlife and bars and restaurants that had a good selection of choice.
Overall, good for a cheap holiday, but I dread to think what it would have been like in school holidays.

We have just returned from a weeks...

Oct 2007, Miss S Jarrett

We have just returned from a weeks stay at the Christania Hotel Beach, which we found most relaxing and enjoyable. The weather was just right to be able to sit out in it all day without feeling too hot.
The hotel itself was ok, probably rate it as a 2 star rather than 3 star, the reception staff were ok, the rooms were very basic and there was a charge for the safe, aircon and fridge facilities. The breakfast served everyday was very boring, really got fed up with the dry bread covered by a tea towel, and the lack of variety offered! Even the bowl on the table with the fruit arrangement in was plastic! The coffee they served got colder each day! So feel if there needs to be an improvement it is on the breakfast.
The pool was nice to sit by everyday, got a good breeze from the sea and good view also. Plenty of sunbeds to lie on and they were free. The bar lady was extremely friendly and helpful and worked a very long day.
The resort itself was excellent for a wide variety of eating out places! We weren't disappointed by any of them we tried out, a few of the shops were closing for end of season and the only place we could find for evening entertainment was the Beachcomber bar, which had a band singing every night. The evenings were just getting a bit on the cool side, so if visiting this time of year make sure you take a few jumpers in your suitcase.
The main beach road runs along the hotel front, and is very busy, hate to think what it’s like in the main season, just be careful whilst strolling along, because there seem to be lots of quad bikes and mopeds blasting along, and the road is very narrow.
Whilst we stayed here we didn't see a cockroach!! Thank goodness.

Had a lovely room (318) with views...

Sep 2007, Mrs L MCEWEN

Had a lovely room (318) with views over pool and sea. Rooms very basic, bathroom tiny, purchase air-con as soon as possible otherwise unbearable to sleep at night. Maids came in at least three times over the week we stayed.
Receptionist on night duty very miserable and unhelpful. Matlida very pleasant and helpful.
Didn't go down for breakfast as we had been pre-warned by this site that it was dreadful, eat at Rose and Crown (opposite hotel) for breakfast, best in Stalis.
Pool very clean, although most sunbeds are broken. The pool bar lady was incapable of coping on her own and was quite rude and abrupt, ordered a snack from the bar, took nearly an hour to arrive and when it did it was wrong and the bar lady stuck her fingers inside it to search for the ingredients that I had asked for!!
Sandy area was quite small at the beach, go further down to the left or right for a bigger area, sea a bit rocky in places too.
Didn't spend that much time at hotel during the day, preferred friends apartment (Nikos apts), off the beaten track but friendly and clean.
Can't fault Stalis, good for couples young and older, families and singles... Malia just a short taxi ride away for a more livelier night for the younger 18-30 crowd, around 8-10 Euro's.
Christiana Beach hotel is ok for cheap & cheerful break, don't expect luxury. Paid £400 for a week bed & breakfast.

I have just returned from a week at...

Aug 2007, Miss M Coulter

I have just returned from a week at the Christiana Beach in Stalis with my friend and our sons who are 14 and 11. We had a fantastic holiday and I cannot fault the hotel in any way.
Our rooms were basic but large with big balconies overlooking the beautiful beach and bay into Hersonissos. The view was especially beautiful at dusk into night. The pool and pool area was kept scrupulously clean and there were plenty of sunbeds and parasols which were all free of charge. You also had use of the lilos that people had left behind so you didn't really need to buy any. There is also a small jacuzzi by the pool which is heated.
As the hotel is raised above the beach, you get a lovely view of the whole area and a breeze to cool you down, but you can also forget just how hot it is so a high factor is a must. The pool bar was open from 9am until whenever the last person left in the evening/next morning and was always a hub of activity. Panos in the bar was a gentleman, very hard-working and always had a smile for you. My friend and I will miss our conversations with him. Everyone seemed to make friends around this bar and I remember saying it reminded me of the programme "Cheers".
I met a lot of the people who return every year to this hotel and to Stalis so that is testament to how good this hotel and resort is. I loved Stalis in general. I used to live in Greece and am used to a very authentic old rustic Greece..... Stalis isn't so authentic, but the people there make you feel at home, very welcome and leave you with lasting memories.
All of the restaurants I ate in were of a high standard. San Giorgio in Old Malia town is a must as it is very very "Greek" and a Friday night will put on a show of Greek dancing and festivity. You have lots to choose from in way of evening entertainment. My favourite place to go to was the Beachcomber bar as it had a live band, was on the beach and had a great atmosphere.
The beaches are lovely, some areas are rocky but if you walk further out of Stalis toward Malia the beaches are stunning and quieter. All in all if you want a relaxed holiday, with no lager louts, lovely friendly locals, lovely food and great evening entertainment visit Stalis... you wont be disappointed.

Just returned from a 7 day break from...
8 / 10
Aug 2007, Mr P White

Just returned from a 7 day break from Stalis and stayed at the Christiana beach hotel and can say the we enjoyed our stay there.
We had a lovely room overlooking the bay and if we had chosen it ourselves we could not have hoped for better, the room number was 138 so ask for this or one of the equivalent rooms on the same floor. They are situated on the top floor of the main complex and are wonderful.
As people have already stated your extras are air con and fridge in the rooms and when we were there the cost was 5 euros a night for air con (definitely needed) and 1.50 euros a night for the fridge.
If like us you need an early morning cup of tea I suggest that you take a travel kettle as the room does not have one, there are plenty of sockets available but ensure you take a travel adaptor also.
We were made very welcome by the staff here and a special mention must be made of Matilda on reception that always had a kind word to say and helped my wife and i when she had heat exhaustion.
The person who made our holiday is the one and only Panos the pool bar manager who went above and beyond to make sure we had mood music / drinks / food / and was always there for us, we consider him a personal friend and will keep in contact with him.
The resort of Stalis has all that you need to make your holiday, the restaurants are numerous and all offer English foods as well as Greek. There are even Chinese and Indian restaurants there.
One thing to note is some restaurants will have guys on the street trying to get you in to sample there menu, if you don't fancy it just say maybe next time and walk on.
We did note that a lot of younger British people (males mostly) were riding about on quad bikes without helmets. We did hear that some had been arrested and fined because of this. If you’re going to hire one make sure you check the legalities out first.
So would we go back oh yes we intend to next year.
