Flora Apartments Reviews
" Super Place "
Submitted By: KMCThe only problem we had was parasols/shade around the pool. Not enough and people claiming them early in the day and not returning to their beds until late afternoon!
Euro/Pound not great at moment so things do seem a little expensive. We had the Menu of the Day most of the time, most of the restaurants offer this, it includes 4 choices of starter, main, dessert incl. wine, bread, water costing about 12.50 Euros per adult, kids 4.50 Euros (meal/ice cream) - 2 adults & 2 kids cost around 40 Euros per meal which we found reasonable.
We ate in the square where there is a lovely atmosphere. Lots of locals eating alongside tourists makes for a very spanishy feel. The restaurants on the front look lovely but didn't try them.
We would recommend the Flora Apartments anyone wanting to visit Puerto Pollensa.
Advice: Great place to eat out and nice Spanish feel to it.
Activities: Mojito & Makassar
Good for: Beach
" Perfect Holiday "
Submitted By: Lindsey MWe hope Dora's still there next year as we plan on visiting again and I don't think it will be the same without him. The food served in the hotel is very nice and good value and the drinks are reasonably priced compared to the town and seafront.
The hotel is ideally situated just 5 minutes walk to the 'Square' where most of the restaurants are located and just 3-4 minutes from the beautiful beach. Puerto Pollensa is gorgeous - this is our 6th visit! Although we did find it a bit pricey this year because of the weak pound. It's much better to trek to the large supermarket Eroski on the roundabout, although there is a smaller one near the marina. The Voramar minisupermarket serves lovely fresh, warm baguettes all day and does stock everything you need, but at a higher price. As I said before we are definitely planning on going back next May, I think July/August will be too busy and too hot. I didn't find it a problem at all getting a sunbed although I think this would be a different story in the summer holidays. A fantastic place well worth a visit!

" Great apartments "
Submitted By: rrw01Moving onto the entertainment, whilst the three cabaret shows were a little poor (it was the start of the season) the on site entertainer, Karl, known as Dora, was excellent. We had two young daughters (10 & 7) and they loved every minute of both the daytime kids entertainment and the evening discos and party dances.
Would certainly recommend the Flora to anyone and Porto pollensa itself was lovely for a youngish family or older visitors.
good value
Advice: Lovely beach relatively quiet, probably not great for older teens/clubbers etc.

" Just returned from Puerto Pollensa... "
Submitted By: Miss M MBooked cheap flights from Dublin to Palma and decided to stay in Puerto Pollensa after reading other reviews on the resort. Absolutely fantastic place. Because we hadn’t booked a package holiday we had to organise our own airport transfer from Palma to Puerto Pollensa. We booked before we left home online with Shuttle Direct. We opted for the shared transfer rather than the private one. Very little difference but it only cost us €56 for the two of us for a return trip as opposed to €150 for a private transfer. We shared a mini bus with 2 other couples. The journey took about 50mins and we were dropped at the door to the Flora apartments and again collected at the door going home. Great service and value for money.
The resort itself is fantastic. The entire resort is reasonably small and there are no high rise buildings which makes it a beautiful place to walk around, especially the pine walk. All very up market. The marina is a lovely place to walk around in the evening and have a look at the beautiful boats and yachts. Everywhere feels very safe and lots of families around. Mostly couple and families, no big groups of larger louts. Everything is based around the beach front and the market square. The Flora apartments are within 5 minutes of both of these. Perfect location. There are very few or no Irish in this resort. Majority are English. In general the resort is fairly quiet. There are plenty of bars including two Irish but very few night clubs. This was not a problem for us as we were there for a relaxing holiday and this is exactly what we got. There is little or no shopping in Puerto Pollensa. Only some souvenir shops. No high street stores at all but this just adds to the lovely atmosphere around the port and sea front. However if you really want to go shopping there are day trips to Palma. Unfortunately we didn’t get around to do this but apparently it is fantastic for shopping. There’s even 1 street entirely of shoe shops, over 100 of them!
There are some brilliant restaurants in the resort. The most we paid was €65 one night for a fantastic 3 course meal with drinks in Maxim on the market square. Best steak ever! Returned again for a second night. On average we paid €45-€50 for a meal for 2 with drinks. There are 3 Dakota Tex Mex restaurants in the resort. Menu looks great but really all the food is a bit bland and expensive for a step above fast food. The majority of restaurants are around the square and the beach front. Both lovely locations to sit and relax at the night time. In general food is of a very high standard and great choice. We had breakfast in our apartments each morning. Bought supplies in Spar on our first night but be warned, it is extremely expensive. We bought bread, milk, a box of cereal, butter and a large canister of water and it cost €33! Should go to Eroski instead but it doesn’t open late at night.
The Flora apartments were perfect for what we wanted. Accommodation was basic but clean. We had a one bedroom apartment. The kitchen was well equipped with a two ring hob, fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster. Television has BBC1, BBC2, BBC3 & SKY news if you want to watch television on your holidays. The pool was fabulous. We didn’t have any trouble getting sun loungers. There was always plenty available throughout the day but this may have been because we were there in September and was a little quieter. Staff in the hotel were very helpful. Some never seemed to have a day off but were always cheerful and friendly. There was entertainment every night. Some nights better than others. Always finished around 11:30. If you did want an early night or had small children you may want to request an apartment away from the poolside bar as it is loud.
We did a day trip to Marineland and Katmandu in Magaluf with No Frills excursions. There are plenty of companies that organise day trips like this. It cost €49 per person for the full day. Marineland was very good. The park is very small however so a few hours is plenty of time to spend in it. Once you’ve seen the Dolphin and Sea Lion show there’s not much else to do. Well worth a visit though. At 1 o clock we left Marineland and went to Katmandu. This is an upside down house and inside is a strange and unusual things! Kind of like Ripley’s believe it or Not stuff! Very cool and a perfect chance to get in out of the heat. They also have a new 4D cinema which is definitely worth a go. We had some time to spare before returning to Puerto Pollensa so we went for a walk around Magaluf. Worst hour of the entire week! Absolutely horrible place. Didn’t feel safe walking around and it was only 3 o clock in the afternoon. Streets were dirty. Pubs were full of drunken larger louts even at this early stage in the day. Would hate to see it a 3 in the morning. Lots of high rise apartments. Would definitely avoid Magaluf like a plague! However this did not ruin the day trip. Just made us appreciate Puerto Pollensa even more when we got back to it. The only negative thing I would say about the day trip was the bus we travelled in. It was old and a little grubby. The air conditioning was very poor which made the journey home very uncomfortable. I would maybe suggest trying another company for such trips because of this as No Frills literally has no frills. Basic and value for money.
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday in Puerto Pollensa. I would highly recommend it to anyone. It’s suitable for families, couples (young and old) but maybe not for anyone looking for a lot of nightlife. I would return to the Flora apartments again also. The Daina Hotel on the pine walk also looked very nice. We returned from a fabulous week feeling relaxed and thoroughly happy with our choice in Puerto Pollensa and the Flora apartments.

Submitted By: Mr J RainfordYou can eat on the complex if you want, but most people venture out to the sea front or the market square. It's a mammoth three minute walk to the beach which is very nice. Good sand, shallow water and you can feed the fish while you swim if you take some bread with you. There are over 100 restaurants in Puerto Pollensa. Most of them serve reasonable food, a few are very good and a few are not so good. We tried about ten of them. If you want good quality authentic local food then my tip would be EL POSITO's
You can have starters such as fresh prawns in garlic sauce or fresh squid. Main dishes include Suckling Pig, shoulder of Lamb, fish in bacon sauce. The house wine is a Chardonnay at 10 Euros. A meal for two adults with wine including starters and a main course will cost you about 50 Euros. It's not cheap, but it's worth it. The reataurant is well known and frequented by the locals. It's best to book the day before, especially at weekends. LA ROC serves a good pizza - large ones unlike some of the other eating places. A lot of the portion sizes are small in many restaurants. A meal for two adults and two kids with wine and drinks cost us about 60 Euros a night, ie about fifty quid. It's not cheap like it used to be.
Puerto Pollensa is a nice place for a holiday if you want sun, sand, the beach, a pool. There are nice walks along the pine walk and it feels a safe place to be. Locals leave there doors open and kids don't bother to lock there bikes up. Always a good sign. It's not a place for those who want to go clubbing all night and sleep all day. There are only one or two tiny clubs. It's for families with children or older couples. Lots of Brits have retired there and there is a nice mix of Brits and Spansh.
We went for two weeks, last week of August and first week of September. Weather was great, about 30 degrees every day. Only a little cloud on one or two days. Be carefull when you are booking accommodation. Some of the complexes are well outside of Puerto Pollensa which make it difficult to walk in to Town. The Flora appartments are right in the middle. Perfect. SPAR supermarkets are expensive. Go where the locals go. The big Supermarket on the edge of town is called EROSKI and it's about half the price. A reasonable bottle of wine can be bought for about a pound. We met loads of people who had been to the Flora Appartments many times and keep returning.

Submitted By: Mrs L MastersAll the staff were very helpful and welcoming. Karl the entertainer made our holiday what it was, he was reallly good with children and included the adults as well and i felt my children where in safe hands.
The housekeepers were absoloutely brillant everything in our apartment was very well cleaned and we never had any problems with any of the facilities within our apartment. Also the facilities around the reception, pool and bar area were also kept spotless. The only downfall was the sunbeds, because by about quarter past nine all the sunbeds were taken and some were empty all day even though they had towels on them. Apart from the sunbeds there is nothing we can fault about the Flora Hotel. The bar Snacks were really nice and and there was never a very long wait. The reception staff were very helpful and welcoming throughout the day and night, reception always had someone behind th desk.
We will definately go back to the Flora Hotel again. It was the best holiday we have EVER had.

Submitted By: Mrs L MaguireThe position of the Flora apartments is ideal and only a few minutes walk to the beach and not on a main road so no traffic noise, this is why we chose it.
The appartments are basic and a bit dated but what you expect for the money. The linen was very clean and changed regularly, the room was cleaned several times in the week but not very well.
The biggest downfall of the Flora is the pool. it is too small, gets very busy and noisy and forget getting a lounger unless you are prepared to be there at 8.30 and wait for them to be unlocked at 9 and even then, there aren't enough! People were manic and put their towels on them all day, even if they weren't going to use them until the afternoon, it was a farce and one we didn't even consider taking part in.
The entertainment in the evening finished at midnight but if you have small children and your appartment is round the pool area it will be very noisy.
We only used our appartment to sleep and shower in and didn't use any of the facilities at the Flora so cannot comment on them.
Still love the resort and would use the Flora again becasue of it's position in the resort.
