Hotel Description:

As one of the original chalets in Courchevel 1650, Chalet Mors exudes an atmosphere of authentic charm that is so difficult to create in newer chalets. The harmony of its stone exterior is matched when one enters through the heavy wooden door into the warmth of the dining room/lounge with its baronial size open log fireplace. The pitched ceiling is supported by thick wood beams, and meals are taken around long tables which ensure that everyone can sit down together to enjoy great evenings of fine food, wine and relaxation in this most traditional of chalets.

" This was a lovely chalet and the food... "

This was a lovely chalet and the food was very nice, and I am extremely fussy!

The sitting room was lovely for a bit of banter and great for playing poker!

The rooms were lovely and the staff were very friendly!

As for the 3 valleys skiing! Amazing! Best I've been to and I have been a lot of places. 5* definitely!

" I visited Courchevel 1650 last week... "

I visited Courchevel 1650 last week along with a group of 12 friends and had a great week’s skiing. Weather and snow conditions were as good as anyone could wish. The Chalet Mors itself was very pleasant and the food was of a very high standard, although a little more choice would have been appreciated. This is only a minor gripe and I would quite happily recommend the food to anyone. Unfortunately there was a spillage of heating oil around halfway through the week, which caused an all pervading acrid smell, which was a rather off-putting. One evening I found that there was not enough chairs for all to sit at dinner and I had to use a rather uncomfortable stool. A request for a proper chair was met with a blank stare.

This was little more than a minor irritation, but the sleeping accommodation I was given was little short of scandalous. Euphemistically described as a 'mezzanine', my bed was on a shelf in the rafters. There was not enough room for a normal adult to stand up, headroom being about 1.5m at best, sloping to practically nothing. A very steep and narrow ladder accessed the shelf. I’m only glad I never had cause to use it through the night! There was no wardrobe or clothes storage space, no place to put luggage, no electric socket, no mirror, no carpet (with nail heads protruding fron the floorboards!) and not even a light. A request for one was met with an assurance that one would be provided; it never materialised.

This was very disappointing as all but one other (who was also given a shelf) of my friends had very pleasant rooms and my score would have been much higher if I had had likewise. Considering that we all paid the same amount I feel that I had every right to expect this.

I should also point out that the ski hire shop we were all enthusiastically encouraged to use was charging far more than another shop a few doors up the road.
