Impressive hotel with excellent facilities. The porticoed entrance is approached between 2 huge fountains. Both swimming pools are set in gardens full of palm trees. Our room was enormous, with a 6' bed, fridge, digital safe and fantastic air-conditioning. The staff... more

Fine hotel at a great rate
14 - 20 April 2004. Having read the very mixed reviews of the Worldgate on this site I was a bit concerned at what we might find, especially as a single parent travelling with 3 kids. All I can say is that we enjoyed our week at the Worldgate enormously. The pool area and the room were clean and the food/bar service was more than adequate, with friendly and helpful staff. My only complaint was an initial wait of 20 minutes at the main desk while they sorted out a non-smoking room, despite my having requested one when making the original booking (via an agent) 10 weeks earlier. Also, there was a party of noisy teens staying but, being on the top (7th) floor, we didn't suffer as much disturbance as some other guests. The theme park shuttle service was OK (though times a bit limited). It certainly called at some pretty grim hotels - which made us very glad to have booked the Worldgate! Price was 38 GBP per night for a reasonable size room with two double beds.
Loved It
The Hotel was quite nice. Plenty to do right there, two pools, cabana bar, tennis and 4 basketball courts! Food was better than most resorts, but the breakfast was great! They are doing some changing to become a Radisson or Hilton I'm not sure. Ted is the General Managers name and he is a nice fellow. Say hi for me if you see him.
Nice Room, Good Facilities, Great People!
I stayed here from 3/16-3/18. I was very happy with the hotel. This is a Luxury 5 star hotel, but it is a nice 3 - 3 1/2 star place and for the price I paid that was a deal. The Room was clean and comfortable, the Pool was heated and the Jacuzzi was great after a long night. The Facility is very nice outside and could do with a little updating on the inside, all in all though everything I saw was clean and ordely. The Part that made this hotel so great, was the staff. Not only were they always courteous and prompt when I called or asked for assistance, the were genuinly friendly and interested in making sure my stay was comfortable and satifactory. The only thing that I didn't care for was the size of the bathroom, it is a little cramped, but considering the fact that you only spend a minimal amount of time in that area I didn't take much notice of it.
gross
Nasty, rooms were dirty, pool was dirty. Sound of some bad air conditioner outside our room which kept us up all night. Asked for more towels at the pool and never brought them and had to freeze walking back into the hotel wet. Would not recommend. May be cheap but you get what ou pay for. Oh wiat, they claim they have transportation but they only drop you off at 8 am and return pick up is at 4 pm.
Outstanding Value and Service
Stayed in March 2003 and the Location, Service. Price and Facility were outstanding. Fre shuttles to all the Disney Parks and Universal parks plus SeaWorld too saved us a ton of money in parking and rent cars. This hotel is becomming a Radisson sometime soon and I hope they don't change the pricing!! Very, very clean and comfortable plus the the food court and restaurant gave us a great choice of meal options and prices. we will be back.
Insects!
My girlfriend and I almost stayed here the third weekend in February 2004. Almost! We found insects crawling on the walls in the bathroom so we asked for another room. (the room also smelled like bug spray.) We found insects in the bathroom of the second room. We then asked for another room and they gave us one in the other tower. Yes, we found insects crawling in that bathroom also. Nobody was suprised about the insects either. They didn't even have us prove the insects were in there. Let me be clear though. These were insects, not bugs. I know that moths and things can find there way into a room but this was an infestation. These insects were crawling along the walls in a line like ants do, to and from holes or vents in the wall. We left because the place had be stigmatized to us and we could not sleep comfortable even if they did find a room without insects. We now see why they lost there charter from Mariott.
Are you guys nuts? This place was GROSS!
Our family stayed here in March of 2003. Our vacation was booked for nine days, but one night was all we could stand of this facility. Let's begin with your walk from the parking lot to the door. Lizzards run OVER your feet the entire expance of the walkway. The beds were miserable with a cheap mattress and linens. The air conditioner was so loud it kept our baby awake all night long, the elevators were loud and bumpy, there was mold in our bathtub, and the hotel had a horible odor. We left the next morning and went to the Marriott World Center where we enjoyed the rest of our vacation in LUXURY with a reduced price thanks to our pleasent negotiations with Corporate Marriott. This hotel has since been pulled from Marriott's franchiseing. The Orlando Maingate is fine if you are looking for budget accomidations, not too concerned with luxury or cleanliness, but this is not at all what Marriott's customers are accustome to. We will never stay here again.
Nice Hotel
Our family stayed at Renaissance Worldgate from 12/22 to 12/28. We get it at a very good rate for $35/night. This is a very nice hotel. Staff, decor, and room are all nice. We stayed in the North Tower Bldg 7th Floor looking at parking lot. We can see the Epot firework at night. We also spent our off day in the hotel swimming pool and my son loves it. The room is also with a small fridge so we can store milk, juice, soda, and some snacks. The hotel is also close by to many cheap buffet restaurants. The back way to Disney is nice so you do not have to face the 192 traffic. Overall, this is a nice hotel if you can get a good rate. I think this hotel new name is called "Orlando Worldgate Resort". I saw this label on door telephone, ... etc.
great value!
had a 10 day stay here right after thanskgiving. great deal £290 per room for 10 nights!!!!!!!!!. the tip about rooms overlooking epcot was great . 100 yards from 192 yet looking out on open country and very quiet!!! shuttle to disney good and 5 minute walk to ponderosa/ shoneys/ golden corral etc. you would think the hotel would try to compete but there food was expensive so we ate out. didn't have one meal there. golden corral $9.99 steak dinner buffet best deal, what a blow out! the link bus 55 stops on 192 both sides near the hotel and for 3 dollars for a day pass will take you to old towwn/ osceola mall etc. runs every half hour each way all day. so you don't have to drink and drive. by the way $1.50 day pass for seniors and kids. overall hotel was great. pool and whirlpool good. staf helpful and rooms clean and comfortable. we would go back although apparently they are changing to some other brand in the corporate collosus in january. the staff of course will probably be the last to know!
fantastic stay!
I stayed at the hotel last month and really loved it. the jacuzzi is fantantic! make the most of it after a long day at the parks. the reception staff were great and the rooms lovely and spacious. i would definately go back to this hotel for its location and jacuzzi!
