My wife and I have just arrived back to UK after 2 weeks in the paradise called Balos.
What a wonderful, peaceful, beautiful little place this is. We stayed at the Amfilissos Hotel and could not be more pleased with the attention, breakfast, cleanliness, and general care received there.
We had a sea view, to watch for the Dolphins, (nine sightings in 14 days), and were looked after royally by Despena and Margeurita.
Balos itself is lovely, a very small fishing hamlet with friendly people. It is very quiet, so if this is what you like it will suit your every need. There are no shops, you will need to hire a car to explore Samos more generally.
I think this place is a real gem, and although we did meet a few other Brits there, it obviously appeals to many nationalities. There were Americans, Australians, Dutch, French, and of course our German cousins, along with Greek families.
No large numbers of any of them however, so plenty of room on the pebbly beach, and in the crystal clear, very safe, waters. We will visit again next year to renew our acquaintance with paradise.
