Acorn Playa Real Hotel

this hotel is a gem.. right on the beach, great for families..but its closing in 2008, and no one knows when it will re-open sadly

My boyfriend (32) and I (29) booked a weeks' stay at the Hotel Playa Real (Acorn) in Talamanca, Ibiza through Travel Republic and had a fanstastic stay. The hotel is right on the beach, 5-10 mins walk from Marina Botafoch and 10-15 mins walk to El Divino and Pacha. We booked the hotel playa real last minute and were very pleased with our choice. The hotel is right on the beach so perfect location with a few nice beach cafes/bars a few minutes walk away to lunch and if you fancy a bigger night out Ibiza town is only 40 mins stroll (6 Euro cab). The rooms were clean with all the amenities you would expect but most amazingly was the soundproofing as there was no noise from either the adjoining room or corridors. On the whole, we were very pleased with our stay at the Playa Real. We arrived at the hotel a little early & tried to check in (1.45) but were told the cleaners were at lunch & it could be another 2 hours before getting our room. I went back to reception at 2.30pm & it had been ready all along but there were a few waiting for a while after us. We stayed here in June 2007. There was a good mix of nationalities staying at the hotel and a relaxed atmosphere.The hotel grounds and public areas were well maintained. However, it is basically a 1970's hotel and the rooms are a bit cramped and starting to show their age. The staff are fine but deal with guests in an unhurried manner.If as a you 've got time for this then fine. If not, then the staff do not give the impression of being overly concerned. We were attracted to this hotel because of it proximity to ibiza town and luxury feel. Although the hotel is officially a three start it feels more like a four star. Upon arrival there was an initial mistake as we were given a standard room when we had actually booked a seaview room. This was immediately checked and sorted in a appologetic manner and we were told that if we needed anything during our stay or just wanted some advice that we only had to ask. Great hotel with a really nice vibe about it. Friendly, helpful staff, very good food, spotlessly clean - a winner. The rooms were particularly nice, much nicer than any other 3 star that I have ever stayed in. The location is perfect, situated on Talamance beach with its handful of restaurants and bar and only a short walk away (along the beach boardwalk) from Marina Botafoch which is much busier. Upon our arrival our party was allocated 2 rooms facing the road, not what we had requested as our booking forms clearly stated sea view. However the reception staff guaranteed a sea view room for the following morning, they were true to their word, in fact they even put both rooms together and we had a lovely view over the pool across the to the sea. We booked a selection of rooms for various lengths of stay ranging from 3 to 8 days as we were a party of 15. We had specifically asked for rooms to be close together preferrably on the same floor and all with sea views . Upon arrival after 11pm, we were shown to our various rooms. Ours was a double which comprised two single beds pushed together! We had a small balcony but our room overlooked the road at the front of the hotel. Good location right on the beach at Talamanca quiet and relaxing. Family orientated with activities throughout the day. Food here I have to say is excellent - buffet style for most meals but the choice is vast. Try the lunch to - the chef will cook you something fresh. Rooms are good with fridge, tv a/c plus ceiling fan. Ask for a seaview - awesome
