Elena Apartments

I took my parents to the canary islands for the first time along with my husband and our 3 year old daughter.
The Elena apartments are wonderfully based to all the amenities, if young and like a good night out, all the main bars are just across the road, but this does not mean you can hear any noise, we were pleasantly surprised. The Beach is just across from the bars and all the shops are at hand to. There is a large Netto Supermarket approx. 5 minute walk away. There are two pools at the apartments, the children’s is not very big and the adult pool is quite deep. The only way in and out of the pools is by a pool ladder. The complex is cleaned every morning and the apartments are basic but comfortable and enjoyable.
The only down side is there was quite a few cockroaches of an evening in the apartments and outside. But if you speak to the friendly reception staff they will get your room sprayed for you. (handy tip on which we did was to put some tissue paper in the overflows of the sinks and put in all the plugs before you go out). Ending on a nice note, you must visit the old town, the food is wonderful and there is not any totes trying to get you into bars or restaurants, it is a lot more relaxed and chilled.
We will be rebooking to go back again in the near future. If you are a fussy eater there is a good Irish pub called bottles on corner next to the apartments, the breakfast and main meals are all either home made or imported English food.

The worst accommodation I have every experienced. We had originally booked the Cinco apartments with Thomson but upon arrival they had overbooked and they transferred us to these dreadful apartments called the Elena.
The Cinco apartment were 3*+ and we were downgraded to a 1*. We have got no satisfacation from Thomson, the rep lee was the worst customer representative I have ever encountered. We ended checking out on the 3rd day and getting our own accommodation.
Thomson are an absolute disgrace, their attitude towards customers has a lot to be desired.
Will never ever recommend Thomson and will actually will endeavour to put people off booking with them

As a previous poster wrote, the entrance to the Elena Apartments can look a little daunting, but once you are inside it is a different place entirely. The whole complex is well maintained and clean. Our accommodation was in an annexe across a small road from the pool area, but we preferred that because it was a little quieter. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The whole complex had a very secure feel - the gates were shut every night at dusk, so don’t forget your keys!
The Elena Apartments are situated in the very centre of Puerto Del Carmen, so you have a dozen bars and restaurants within a very short distance. I would recommend Pinocchio’s, who do the best pizza in Lanzarote, and they have the friendliest staff. The friendly atmosphere pervaded the whole island, and everyone made us feel very welcome. In Playa Del Carmen, all the hotels and apartments are set back from the main beach road, so you get less noise.
The only negative thing I can say about Lanzarote is that there are not too many excursions to go on, because it is a very small island. I would definitely urge you to do the "Grand Tour" which is a little expensive, but the cost includes a meal and a DVD or video. The volcanoes are a "must see". You can also take a boat over to the neighbouring island of Fuerteventura for the day. Because the weather is rarely baking hot (average is 23 to 24 during the day, occasionally rising to 30C), it’s a great place for young children.

Myself, partner, mother-in-law and children (one aged 2yrs, and one aged 4-months) stayed at the Elena Apartments, Puerto Del Carmen, and were extremely disappointed.
The apartments were in a poor state of repair (damaged paving, peeling paint to windows and doors etc.) and not at all suitable for small children. The transfer coach dropped us off a short walk away from the apartments - which was a nightmare with suitcases, pushchairs etc. There were numerous steps in the complex, the children’s pool was far too deep (0.8m). The rep was ill informed and at times extremely unhelpful.
I have complained to Thomson and have received a less than satisfactory answer! (the rep was "new" to the area, the travel agent could have accessed a website which detailed the number of steps within the complex....) I have never before felt the need to complain, but this was a big disappointment to us all.
I will think twice before travelling with Thomson again!!!!

I went on holiday last year to Elena apartments and I am going again this year stopping in the same hotel on the 11th July can’t wait!!!! Elena apartments are about 10 footsteps away from the first bar named Liquid, which is really good. If you go to Lanzarote you have to go in Caesars nightclub its well good. There are loads and loads of clubs and bars which is well good coz you never know which bar to go in first to start your very bladdered night.
Elena apartments are really good and the rooms are a perfect size. I’m going with 3 of my mates n I cant wait until we get there, as soon as we land I’ll have a cocktail or a bottle of Stella in my hand. If your going enjoy your hols, I’m sure you will!!!!!!!!
