Diane Abram - 18.12.08-26.12.08, 14 of us went to Elena apartments had a fantastic holiday, dont let the entrance to the Elena put you off, apartments clean, very large and excellent place to stay, staff and cleaners are excellent, nightclubs are just across the road, noise is not that audible, plenty bars, disco and restraunts a couple minutes away, pinichios restraunt excellent, american indian and Chiquittos are worth a visit, the front was dug up due to roadworks but it didn't spoil anything you would expect it to be dusty but it wasn't.
We will definately be returning to Elena, lovely beach 2 minutes walk away.
Well worth the money

Had a fantastic holiday! Apartments are spacious and cleaned regularly. Bar staff are very friendly and make the holiday very special. Location is ideal - only two minutes walk to the main street where there is a wide range of bars, restaurants and a beautiful beach. We met lots of wonderful friends there, although there is both a mix of English and Spanish residents. The pool is not very large but very deep so we all had fun - even the barmen joined in the spirit when they allowed us to throw them in after the weekly barbecue! There is also a small pool for children so the complex is suitable for both couples and families. We hope to return next year but I would advise customers to avoid our room (428) as it backs onto the bars and sleep between the hours of 9pm and 6am proved to be impossible - all other rooms were fine. Would recommend 'The Emperor' for Chinese food - in the sidestreet alongside the apartments - tasty, freshly cooked and great value! Alternatvely, 'La Brasa' along the main street was very tasty although a little more expensive. The supermarket was quite expensive so take some supplies with you and basic medicinal items as these proved diificult to acquire. Overall, a memorable holiday where we made some special friends who we hope to see again soon.

This was our second visit to these apartments, took my 72 year old mum and 17 year old son. Apartments spotless inside and out. Staff very friendly and helpful. Excellent location for bars, restaurants, beach and taxi rank. Apartments were quiet at night even though close to some all night bars and clubs, not sure this would be the case in the summer months. Will go back again next year. Most definately recommend for a week of winter sunshine.

Just got back from the Elena, our 2nd stay to these apartments. We booked flights with XL and through Thomsons for the Elena. On arrival though the manager informed us that Thomsons had overbooked us by one night and that we would have to stay at the Rocos Blancos which was just around the corner. Those apts were fine although a little grubby and the windows werent safe in the bedroom as you could go around the back and just push them open! As it was only myself and my husband this didnt bother me but if i had brought my daughter i wouldnt have been impressed. We only stayed the one night and went back to the Elena as we had stayed there last year.
We were allocated room 419 on the terrace which was a spotless and roomy two bed apt. Everywhere there is really clean and the staff are really friendly. We only stayed for 4 nights and the maid came once to change the towells and clean. We were given a card to book these apts with Lanzaroteisland.com and would definately do that next time. We are going back in October and i dont think i would stay anywhere else now as i have been to Lanzarote quite a few times and these are definately the best so far. Would also recommend the Playa Mar restaurant, the food was fabulous! Weather was absolutely gorgeous for the few days that we were there, was about 28c.

Dec 2007, Mr R Tildesley

Well kept, clean and a pleasure to stay there, all staff helpful and friendly from cleaners to reception and front line Thompson staff. All amenities close by, beaches are good and clean. Been back to these apartments twice they have been the best we have stopped at in the last six years at Lanzarote.
Waiting to book to go there again but cannot find the Elena apartments on line with Thompson for 2008!

Oct 2007, Miss E N Kirsty

Fantastic holiday! Would definitely recommend it for young people, went with our mum and 2 younger brothers. Something to do for all ages. Nightlife fantastic would recommend Nikki beach and Caesers but everywhere on the strip was great.
The Elena was very good, rooms were clean and staff were friendly. Pool was very cold but we did go in April, weather was brilliant. Restaurants, shops and beach 2 mins walk. Go to Pinocchio’s (Italian place).
If you go to Rancho Texas Park we recommend you dont wear blue or white as it attracts the eagles.
Watch the guys on the beach that sell ice-cream they dont leave you alone.
Overall great holiday and we will definitely be going back with friends next time.

The Elena apartments, although basic,...

Feb 2007, Mr S Patnaik

The Elena apartments, although basic, are excellent. I couldn't find fault with our stay there.
We had a first floor, poolside apartment (as requested) which was cleaned everyday.
The towels were changed every other day and the swimming pool was cleaned every morning. TV in the room was basic but you can get Sky News and Sky Sports. It’s a PAYG system with 1 Euro giving 60 mins of viewing.
A key to the in-room safe costs 10 Euros per week. You can also hire an assortment of kitchen appliances if required.
As for the Thomson reps, Jayne and Mandy. They were always available at the designated times and were very friendly and approachable. Likewise the staff, especially Carmello behind the front desk!
Location was perfect, in the centre of Puerto Del Carmen, 2 mins from the beach and at the hub of the varied restaurants and bars though we couldn't hear any noise from them at night. There is a pub just up the side street with a 'hint' of Yorkshire about it!
Ideal for couples, families or the elderly. We had a mix of all staying during our week.
Definitely going back again!

Bad things first. The rep was...

Sep 2006, Mr SJ Hedges

Bad things first.
The rep was rubbish, everyone ended up getting annoyed with him coz all he did was sit in his apartment and didn’t join in with us. Lucky us three Hastings lads were there to entertain the rest of the apartments!
Couple of cockroaches, but that is expected on a ground floor apartment in that heat!
Apartment gets very dirty very quickly (especially if you’re drunk)!!!!
We got kicked out at midday on our final day and had to wait 6 and a half hours for our pick up to the airport which I think is bad organisation, but never mind.
That’s about it.
On to the good things.
The bar staff at the pool bar are amazingly helpful and quality in every way, the barman even came out with us on our last night.
We were situated at the apartment closest to the pool, so it was literally one step two step splash! Which was quality? And the pool bar was bout five steps away which didn’t bother us coz we were always the last in there!
The night life in Puerto Del Carmen is not far away from the apartments at all, in fact it’s just over the road at Centro Atlantico and is amazing, but haggle with the PR people who are handing out free stuff to get you in their bars! Go to Ricks, it’s an amazing bar with amazing people and they entertain aswell as serve the cheapest drinks!
Don’t be conned by the electrical shops over there, they will try to fob you off with different stuff they are trying to sell! That’s not me being out of order, that is what they do. There is one reliable shop and I can’t remember what the name of it is but he told us about it.
The beaches are beautiful, there are activities to do, and you just have to find them. Harbour for water sports, Water Park and other trips are at the trips office next to Lanis (there’s loads of lani restaurants).
Have a great time, you will go back again after you have been once. We’ve been three times!

I thought this was the most amazing...
9 / 10
Sep 2006, Mr BW Fair

I thought this was the most amazing two weeks of my life. I loved the apartments as they were very clean and spacious with five lads staying. The staff at the complex were amazing as they were always there if you needed anything like Neil our tour rep and the pool bar staff.
Be ready for cockroaches as we got quite a lot of them! The only negative things were that we were facing the night clubs and heard loads of noise. Until two days before we were leaving we realised if you closed the outside shutters as well as your windows it blocked all the noise out, but it was very warm then.
The cleaners have two days off during the week and they also don’t leave enough toilet roll so be prepared to buy. The cleaner came in if we were still in bed recovering which I didn’t like but they do have a job to do.
But all in all it was the best holiday place ever and you are quite close to all the restaurants, bars, clubs and shops and you are about 10 minutes walk from the harbour. I would recommend jet skiing if you are going near the harbour.
But do go, you will have a good time there and enjoy the complex.

Jul 2006, Miss D Mayor

This was my first holiday abroad and I was not disappointed! I went with my parents, sister, and grandma, 4 of my aunties and uncles and 2 of my cousins!
The apartments are in a perfect location for entertainment and also relaxation. The beach is only down the road and they are in the centre of all shops and bars etc. There were plenty of things to do to keep my 2 year old cousin busy.
The complex is a little small but the apartments are just the right size and very clean. We also went to a couple of drag shows which were the funniest shows I have ever seen! Puerto Del Carmen is perfect for a family holiday.

Lets get the negative bits out of the...

Apr 2006, Miss H Spooner

Lets get the negative bits out of the way first.
We were first dropped off a fair way from the apartments, but as we knew our way around from previous visits we knew where we were going. We were quite disappointed there was no rep on the coach.
Were very pleased with the apartments, ours were just by the pool. The only thing I would say was that ours backed onto the clubs so lots of noise, but most of the time we would be out til all hours anyway! Also, the maids are very noisy first thing in the morning!
We found our Rep absolutely awful. Unapproachable, unprofessional, and unhelpful. Won't put us off going again though! Pool bar staff are very nice and helpful.
Now the good bits. 30 degrees heat every day, excellent trips, best being Timanfaya, excellent bars and restaurants and just a relaxed chilled atmosphere. Best places to visit are Ricks bar (just opposite apartments, you have to go here and say hi to Adam the DJ), Travelers Inn (pound a pint lager and the tastiest food),Route 66, Titos (for all u karaoke lovers), O'Donoghue's, JJ's bar, Atomic Revolution and Sunset Beach to name but a few. And make sure you visit the old harbour and pop into San Miguels. Watch out for those timeshare scams, the people with the scratch cards!
Best holiday ever, we're going back at the end of the year! Enjoy.

5 / 10
Mar 2006, cullo100

Puerto del Carmen is a great lively place to go for some Winter Sun and if you are the type who wants to explore the island then the Elena is a clean, cheap and cheerful place to rest you legs at the end of the day.
This is not the best apartment for those who want to lay by the pool all day as it is minimalist on size and facilities but the staff are friendly and above all it is extremely clean.
The Elena is close to some decent nightlife and I can recommend the La Orla as the trendiest bar in the resort (2 minutes away) and the beach is over the road.
Overall the Elena is worthy of 5/10.
