We paid £3,261.00 for a two week vacation in a villa which looked and sounded idyllic, what we got was a rather run down place with a number of problems.
The main issues were as follows;
The pool.
The pool was cleaned twice during our stay once on the middle weekend and once on the day before we left. During the interim the filtration system was switched off. We had to clean the pool every morning and throughout the day, it developed a feint yellow film and translucent worms living in the filtration baskets. We were lucky no one was ill.
Around the pool the paving is uneven and when splashed muddy puddles formed. Dirty and dangerous given we have two children under 5.

The house.
Air - conditioning units exist in every room, they don’t work. One of the toilets was broken. The whole place smelt damp.
The bedrooms.
Both our sons were bitten on the first night, we suspect sinister creatures not mosquitos, we got plenty of mosquito bites so we had a good points of comparison!. The sheets were grubby, stained and smelt musty, the blankets the same. The rugs actually made you want to put your shoes on to walk across them. The mattresses are worn out and need to be replaced.
The penultimate day.
Our final full day was rather taken over by preparations for the next set of guests; we could not use the pool for 3 hours, the gardens were being tended etc. Given we had to be out at 9.00 am the next morning this could have, should have waited, it felt like our vacation was cut half a day short and that we were an inconvenience as they prepared for the next set of guests.
Villa Kimbo felt a bit mainstream; a run down, over worked, over priced villa with a dirty pool. It sounds like a typical package holiday complaint!
Also there is a lot of construction going on in the area and the sound carries easily.
For us this does not represent £3,261.00 of investment.
