We booked a week before we travelled through teletext. There were 4 adults and 5 children between the ages of 8 and 15. We all had a fantastic holiday and it was everything we wanted for our break. We all managed to get sunbeds at about 9 o'clock each morning and we alternated between the beach and hotel. The food was more than adequate and after 3 cooked meals a day we came home a size or two bigger than when we arrived.
I was puzzled to read another review from a traveller there at the same time stating the restaurant was to small (we only queued once to get in the restaurant when they were extremly busy and that was no more than 10 mins while they cleared enough tables for us) and that the food was boring and repetitive. I could easily have eaten a different menu each meal time.
The same moaner also complained about waiters waiving their tip glasses in front of them everytime they went to the bar. Not once on my many trips to the bar did any one wave a tip glass at me, and the only time I queued was during the show time in the evenings which was very busy and I had to wait a few minutes to be served.
The hotel was very clean throughout and my only complaint would be the fact that they only had 2 lifts for the size of the hotel. Even so I rarely had to wait long to find one available.
I would love to go back.

me, my husband and my 5 year old daughter have just returned from this hotel, and i have to say it was amazing !!!! we went there about 3 years ago but thay have since done a lot off work on the place from 3 new pools and a new stage area, the childrens pool was out standing with little slides and lots more, the evening entertaiment was also well thought of and was enjoyed from people of all ages, i have to say i cant find any faults with this hotel and we cant wait to go back next year.

Went with my 13 year old son, no complaining from him so it must have been good!
Food was very good, drinks free with meal, unless you eat in the Mirlos hotel which is half board, then you have to pay for drinks but the food is slightly better.. steaks etc...!
Only gripe was lifts, 2 lifts that say up to 6 people.. no chance. that's one person & one lilo or pram !!! only became a nuisance when entertainment finished and large queues form! We got sunbeds in midday, people putting towela on at 6am were mad, we never had a problem at all.
My first all inclusive and i will be doing it again next time...Great!

Just got back from staying in Sol Mirlos all inclusive, myself an husband an 3 kids. Was the best holiday we have ever had, hotel was spot on, very clean and the all the staff were lovely. The food was lovely, but would recommend the Tordos if staying with children, there wasnt much for them to eat. The Entertainment was amazing, the shows were outstanding they are a credit to the hotels, we will be coming back next year.

There were 3 of us staying as the Sol Tordos my husband, 11 year old son and myself.
ROOMS - On arrival we were put into a room on the 3rd floor and the first impression was a little disapointing as we had no real view - waste land. However it did turn out to be good as the room had no direct sun which kept it cool and the night times were quiet as we were not on a main road - the only disadvantage was that we were overlooked by all of the hotel rooms to the left of us. The room was a little cramped as we had a 3rd bed and the beds were REALLY uncomfortable. There was a TV which had more than the usual Uk channels which was a bonus when we were getting ready to go out in the evening - my son would sit and watch which gave us a bit of peace!! The cleaners came every day and changed the towels and generally did a good job.
FOOD - The food was 'ok' but I have had better. It was a little repetative and on some days the lunch and dinner was pretty much the same. The bread and sweets were quite nice and my son who never usally bothers with cakes etc had chocolate cake every evening as it was so nice. Breakfast was Ok and the snacks in between are just a smaller version of each sitting!! The staff in the restaurant were ok and cleared the tables in between courses really quickly but there was one lady who who would latch on to any other member of staff and just stand talking - the plates etc were not cleared from the table until we left. Initially I did think that this was a one off but I noticed that each day was the same and so avoided the tables near to where she was working.
RECEPTION - found all of the reception staff pleasant enough but the only real contact I had with them was when were booking in on the first day. I did notice however that when you buy a UK newspaper they add approx 50 cents on top so you may be better going to the local shops as they don't do this.
BAR - I have noticed on a few review sites that the staff on the bar are knocked - we had no problems with them. The only issue is that 1 or 2 of them are a little older and their english is not so good and this can come accross as an attitude but if you take this into account you will have no problems. The bar ceases to become free to all inclusive guests at midnight but you can pay until 1am if you wish to stay around a little later.
ENTERTAINMENT - to be honest we went out for a couple of hours each evening as we never intended to stay in the hotel 24/7 but from what I saw everyone enjoyed what was happening. The evening entertainment at the Tordos was outside and the Mirlos was inside - if we came back to the hotel early we tended to sit outside the Mirlos as the Tordos gets really full. There were daytime activities for both adults and children and the staff worked really hard, they practiced the evening show in the day and even incuded the children who must have been included of the eveing show!!! Had it been a few years ago my son would have been up there with them but this wasn't 'cool' for an 11 year old!!
OTHER FACILITIES - they have pool tables which are 1 euro, internet access which is 3 euros for 1 hr, self service laundrette 3 euros for a wash and 3 euros for the dryers and the washers and dryers a quite big. There is also an ironing board that can be used - I think that you need your own iron as I didn't see one. The rooms have a ceiling fan and air conditioning but no hairdryer.
POOLS - they are quite small and not very deep and the hotel website shows bigger swimming pools which have both been changed since the refurb. There are plenty of sunbeds which are usually all taken by 8:30am with the usual towel leavers but that is the norm wherever you go. The pool and sittings areas are cleaned every morning and there are bins which are emptied regulary - I never saw any mess and was able to sit at a table late afternoon which was clean and without glasses etc.
LOCATION - the location was excellent. The beach is a short walk through a park (couple of minutes at the most) which is accessed via a locked gate in between the 2 hotels - you need your room key to get back in and buzz out to open the gate. Palma nova is a really nice part of Majorca and the hotel is just a short walk away from Magaluf so you have the added bonus of both resorts should you wish to use them. There are lots of bars and restaurants catering for all choices.
OVERALL - I would go back to this hotel and did hear people talking to other guest who commented that this was not their first visit. It is a definate for families with both small and older kids.

This hotel is fantastic, could be 4 star, Food is very good the best all inclusive I have had, and I have had a few. The Entertaintment is Brilliant Peter Pan Show, Grease, Circus, etc on the stage every night, the entertainment staff work so hard, there is kids clubs in the day (free) and again in the afternoon for about £30 for 5 days and they get to take part in the evening shows there is entertainment around the pool in the day also, oh and dont forget the Flintstones Barney Fred and Dino walking around the pool and out at night time for the kids. just make sure u get up early for a bed at the pools. (many photos on the internet are of the old pools) there is flintstones land with slides at the mirlos and a kind of lazy river between the two hotels and a deeper pool at the tordos, you get to use all pools not matter which hotel you stay in. this was our second time and we will be going back again next year.

Just got back today from staying at the sol mirlos, all inclusive for a week. There are 5 of us, 2 adults and 3 kids and we had 2 rooms which thankfully were on the 2nd floor as the lifts are slow and you are quicker just taking the stairs. We had actually booked the tordos but on arrival were told that we were in the Mirlos, which I think I am thankful of as the Mirlos is quieter at night and more suitable for the family.
The rooms were smallish but very functional for the amount of time spent in them. Air con and a ceiling fan, tv etc. Our rooms were cleaned daily, which I wasnt expecting for a 3 star hotel. Towels were changed as needed (when you leave them on the bathroom floor)
Meal times can get a bit repeative but there is something for everyone and the desserts were fab, as my waistline is showing!!. All local beers, sprits and soft drinks are included as were the endless supply of ice lollies and ice cream tubs. If you want a tea of coffee you can only get this at breakfast time or at the bar. You can not get it in the resturant at lunchtime or dinner. (could have done with a cuppa to wash down all those desserts.) The only thing we were not told is where to get the snack from, which we later found out, 2 days later. In between meal times you can go to the tordos resturant and get burgers, hot dogs, salads, toasties and drinks (but not coffee or tea!)
If you are planning an excursion trip, dont forget that you can also book a packed lunch the night before. Another tip is to get bottled water from the bar to take out with you.
The pool at the Mirlos was great and there is a special area, Flintstones land, for smaller children. Mind you, my kids enjoyed it even though they are 12,12 and 9. Sun loungers got snapped up pretty early but we learnt to go down earlier and reserve them with towels. (well hubby did). They pool is busy mid morning but does get quieter afternoon-ish. We had loads of fun and I recommed that you get an inflatable to keep the kids happy.
There seemed to alot of childrens activites going off all day for kids and sporting games for adults. A spinning class daily as well as nightly entertainment. This was mainly in the Tordos and tables get snapped up quickly but we just bought out chairs from the inside lounge.
The staff I found were friendly and efficient. ALL EXCEPT the bar staff named VINO which I think has been mentioned by other reviewers!!. After coming home after a trip out, hungry, thristy and tired. We thought we would go to the pool bar for some drinks whilst we waited for the resturant to open. There was only lady in front of me and Vino and another guy (dont know his name) we behind the bar. Vino asked the lady in front of me what she wanted then promtly leaves the bar, grabs a bimbette from the pool area, takes her by the hand, behind the bar into the back to meet his friend. They all reappear, Bimbette leaves and then Vino starts chatting up the bimbettes mother. He then asks the lady in front of me, who is still waiting what drinks she wanted. Vino get distracted by the bimbetts mother again and decided to make up some drinks for her and her daughter, both who werent even in the que for the bar!! He then turns back to the lady in front of me again to ask her what drinks she wanted. As he eventually serves her drinks, the lady look back at me in total disgust of Vino, expressing what a short memory he has. My 12 year old, who is with me, even expresses "how many times do you have to tell him, mum" I told my son that we are obviously not wearing the right bikini as we would have been served by now. This makes the woman in front of me smirk!!.
Right next my turn, I order 1 beer, 1 coke, 1 milkshake and 2 lemonades. Simple enough!! Vino serves us 3 drinks put ice in the last 2 and then disappears into the back. Ok we think, he has gone to get something...NOPE he has walked off and left our drinks. My Hubby was getting really angry by this time. We must have waited over 15mins for our drinks. Another waitress had come to take over and even she didnt know where Vino had gone, she then eventually served us the remaining drinks (but after she had served the que behind us) We went inside and Vino was prancing around. Hubby called him over and told him off for not serving half our drinks. Vino mumbles some excuse but my hubby told him that he should have looked after customers first. The other bar staff are looking our way at this point and a nice chap comes over and asks us what had happened, we explained and this chap apologized saying that Vino was wrong. This chap went back and spoke to Vino who then appeared again said sorry and then shooked my hubbys hand. A couple of other guest that had swa and overheard came up to us and said that they had had the same bad service from Vino.
All the other staff were good.
Our overall stay in Majorca was great and the beach (only 5 mins walk away) were clean and really good. Plenty of shopping areas and before you know it you have walked from Palma Nova in to Magaluf. Talking about Magaluf, if you get the chance see the Pirates show as it is really really good. A bit pricy but dinner and soft drinks and sangria (exc beer) are included in the price, so worth it.
A great time had even though the early breakfast booked for our return this morning consisted of pastries and coffee/juice. No cereals or toast or anything hot, which was a pity and our transfer coach to the airport broke down and we were late by 30 mins getting to the airport (had to wait for replacement coach) but hey we got there in time and our flight even left 10 mins early and we got back to the Uk to the lovel drizzley rain!!

I would recommend this hotel to anybody travelling with kids. We are booking up to go back again next year. Hotel was spotless with rooms cleaned daily, food was great, we went half board but upgraded to all inclusive in the second week. The entertainment staff were excellent, can't praise them enough... clubs were great and they involved the kids with the shows on most nights. On somw nights there ewas entertainment in both hotels. They have 2 new swimming pools which arent shown on a lot of brochures. As said by a lot of people previously there are only two small lifts but we never had a problem with them. Daughter had the best holiday ever and can't wait to go back next year.

Great Family orientated hotel and even though we were a couple, we were not disturbed by noise at night. Very Clean rooms with daily maid service. Great choice of food (you'd have to be very fussy not to find something you like) and drinks. Entertainment every day and evening for children and adults. Excellent situation for beach, resort and Magaluf. Lots of shops, restaurants and bars very near by. Didn't have much need for contact with staff. Bar men a bit crazy ha.

We have just stayed at the Sol Tordos for the first time and we found that the hotel was fabulous. My partner and i went with our two children and had an absolutely fantastic holiday, there was always something going on for both the children and ourselves and the staff were extremely friendly and entertaining. The food was first class and the rooms large, spaceous and cleaned everyday. The children were never bored and even joined in with some of the shows which were fantastic especially the Peter Pan show...we have taken away some memories that will last forever. In fact we enjoyed ourselves so much we plan on returning next year for a fortnight as we felt a week wasn't long enough. We would recommend this hotel to anybody planning on going to Palma Nova as it is local to both centres...we went out most evenings after the shows finished around 11 o'clock and found some entertaining bars in both Palma Nova and Magaluf, i would warn any families though to miss out on the main street in Magaluf at night as it isn't family orientated (from experience). We took a wrong turn one night and ended up on a street full of night clubs, lap dancing bars etc and lots of girls scantily dressed on podiums in all bars on the street so avoid that area if you are going with children lol... But overall we had a fantastic time and look forward to going next year. Notes to anyone going- to gain sunbeds you need to be up at 8 o'clock in the morning otherwise you'll have no chance of getting one any later, also we found it cheaper getting a taxi from the airport it's only 35 euros and saves the time waiting around on a transfer coach.

I've just returned from a week in Sol Tordos all inclusive. The food was disgusting with the chefs serving the same foods three times a day, seven days a week. I had to eat out every day which made the extra cost for all inclusive a waste of money. The Sol Mirlos was clearly the nicer hotel. The staff were ignorent and could not be bothered to help. There were only two lifts for all the guests and for all nine floors so we had to wait for ages being on the ninth floor. The hotel rooms were small and cramped, although we did have a great view of the pool and sea. The entertainment was poor with all the shows being performed in Spanish; when 99% of the guests were British. I will definatly return to Palma Nova but I will never go back to this resort again.

My family and i have just returned from a 2 week holiday to the tordos hotel. There were four adults and two children on our booking. The first week of our holiday was really nice but the second week was terrible. We felt like we were staying in a 18 - 30 club. This hotel is advertised as a family hotel, but there were gangs of young boys and girls staying there. You dont mind people having fun and enjoying themselves on hoildays but they were going a bit to far. They were taking their drinks into the pools with them, one of the boys exposed himself to some girls by the pool, sunbeds were thrown in the pool this is not very nice when you have got children that cannot use the pool because of hooligans like this. We felt sorry for the lifeguard because she would tell them off and thats all she got back in return was abuse. The hotel staff were very nice and the entertainment people wre very good and worked really hard but i am sorry to say that we will not be returning to this hotel again as the hooligans spoilt it for everyone else who was on holidays aswell.

We have just got back from staying at the Sol Tordos Hotel, and i am delighted to say that we had an amazing holiday and the hotel catered to all of our needs.
The rooms were small but even though there was three 18 year old girls sharing the room we coped well. There were 2 single beds and a bunk bed positioned next to each other. We requested a lower floor room, because previous reviews had told us that the lifts wernt very good and they were slow, and the reviews were right!!!! so request a lower floor room.
The pool area was small and there was a lack of sunbeds even at 7am in the morning when we were arriving home, from a night out!!! But arouund 2ish some sunbeds did become available. The sol Mirols has a bigger pool which is just next door however, we didnt get around to using it. The beach is a 5 min walk so we went there most days.
There are 2 bars, one is by the pool and there is an indoor one 2. You cannot smoke in the indoor area so we were outside most of the time, which is where all the nightime entertainment is but you have to get down early to get a seat!!!
The ques for the bars go down quickly and most of the staff there are polite!! Beware of a little weird short one, who perved on me and my freinds a little bit!!
The food was repetitive as we read on other reviews and if youu are not a fan of sea food you may find yourself living on chicken nuggets and pasta all holiday.
It is a 15 min walk into magaluff strip and its only $3 for a taxi back from there in a drunken state in the early hours of the morning. There is a bus that takes you to the water parks which is free and stops just up the road from the hotel.( If you go to the western water park DO NOT WATCH THE SEALION SHOW ITS RUBBISH) Aqualand is the better water park.
There is a good little bar on the corner of the road called bannana Joes which is a good place to start the night off and there is also a cigerette shop and a spar on the corner of the road.
Overall we enjoyed our stay here, there were people of all ages staying at this hotel and i would recommend it to anyone of any age. We are looking on booking again for next year!!!!
