The Place Apartment Hotel

I have just returned from The Apartment Hotel initially I was impressed with the apartment. We booked a 2 bed. Like other comments the rooms are so overlooked you have to keep the blinds down most of the time for privacy. The rooms are clean and roomy but it doesn’t take long to realise the drawbacks. We stayed at The Place over the Christmas period, having stayed twice before, on previous occassions we stayed in a normal apartment on this occassion we opted for a Penthouse. I would say the apartments are of a higher standard than the penthouses, we had to move on the second day due to a leak in the apartment below, the first penthouse was ok but when we had moved the second one was not as clean and lacked utensils etc that the first had, I agree with a previous comment that it is starting to look dreary and we feel a change in... more

We have just returned from a weekend at The Place and it was great! I had chosen this hotel for the very reason of it having that unusual blend of 4star amenities and self catering! As we weren't too sure as to the location, not having been to Manchester for a long while, we took our own take away curry, just in case, as we love Indian food. Spent three nights with husband and two young children. fantastic location, City Centre and fantastic shopping on doorstep. Great space for families, we always have a problem finding a hotel with one decent sized room for the four of us so having two bedroooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen and a living room was a bonus. I would recomend taking some basics for the kitchen for breakfast for example but with M&S on the doorstep you won't go hungry! Excellent secure parking too. Awful night doorstaff. On returning in the evening at around 2.30am (about 15 of us) we were advised that only residents would be allowed in - fair enough. About 3 of our party left to go to their own hotels. Were were then told that only 11 of us would be admitted as some of our party had already gone up regardless of having paid! I stayed at The Place for two nights and was impressed by the apartments and the overall presentation of the place. I agree with other reviewers though, it does feel a bit like being in a goldfish bowls as my one bedroom apartment had an entire wall in the living room made of glass which looked onto the central atrium. This place is fantastic. We stayed for only one night and wished it could have been longer. We had a one bedroomed apartment which we booked on Laterooms for £70 for the night. There was every amenity we could have wished for. The location in the centre of Manchester was excellent, with bars, restaurants and suberb shopping on the doorstop. The secure parking for £7.50 a night was a bonus. We stayed at The Place at the beginning and end of our vacation in Europe and were delighted both times. The apartments are spacious (we were in a one bedroom the first time and were upgraded to a two-bedroom unit the second time) and well appointed. There's lots of room to spread out. The kitchen has enough utensils and cookware to make a reasonable meal if one gets tired of restaurants (and after three weeks of travel, we were tired of restaurants). The beds are comfortable. Myself and my partner have just come back from a 3 night stay at The Place Apartment Hotel. It is located right next door to the train and metro station and so was very convenient - noise was not a problem. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment. Just went to see U2 at Manchester, the hotel is great, stayed three times and this time got upgraded FOC to The Penthouse. It was FANTASTIC, two big bedrooms, an upstairs with kitchen, sitting room and dining room, and two balconies!!! Would really reccomend it!!
