The reception staff were curt and unfriendly, there was only one lift working and that seemed to be a bit iffy. Our room was very shabby, the bathroom and toilet were not clean and the toilet basin wobbled when you sat on it. The hot water was scalding hot and the mixer... more

This is the worst hotel experience we have ever had!! My husband was assulted by staff after he could not give them his room number, as he was not sure what it was after several nights in different hotels! The staff was rude, arrogant and violent. My husband acctually ended... more

The hotel location is excellent, perfect for the tram service to get around Manchester. Thankfully it is also within suitable distance of the local fire station as no doubt it will be required soon. When I first arrived I was ordered to pay an extra £70 over the quoted... more

Having stayed in this hotel on weekend breaks before we were not expecting a pokey tiny room for the price we paid (over £100) plus the appalling levels of hygiene! Not recommended. Maintenance in his hotel is below standard. Lifts do not work properly, bathroom taps... more

This hotel was centrally located on a quiet road. From the outside it looks dated and slightly tacky with its bright neon sign. It had a certain character about it that other Britannia Hotels don’t; it was almost like entering an 80's time zone. T he doorman was very... more

We booked a superior room at the Sachas Hotel Manchester for two nights over the New Year break. When we arrived at the hotel 1 hour after the check-in time we were greeted by a large queue of people trying to check into the hotel and 1 clearly inexperienced staff member... more

Adequate. The hotel appeared clean and tidy. Close to shopping centre, china town and the GMEX Centre. Also, Vera Duckworth’s pub is very near!! Although our room had no window, it was a cheaper room than those that did have a window. It was, however, still suitable for... more

Worn and dated but value for money
We paid £75 for a family room for one night. I had read the hotel information carefully so knew there was a risk we might have a room with no window and realised there would be a charge to use the pool. For central Manchester the price was cheap enough so we took a chance. The hotel is very worn and tatty, it probably hasn't been decorated since about 1986! However, we found the staff helpful and friendly and the reception desk was well-manned. Our room did have a window and a fridge which was useful and the beds for the children were... more
sleep interupted by intermittent fire alarms
I stayed at this hotel for two nights. On the first night I was woken at 2am by the fire alarm. By the time I was out of bed, it had stopped. This was the first of a long night of intermittent short bursts of the fire alarm. Also my room was extremely dirty, with a thick carpet of dust around the window. I will not be staying here again.
I actually stayed here twice
There are a lot of bad reviews on here. Fair enough- they make great reading and I'm quick to slate places where I've had a bad experience. Maybe I was just lucky with this one. The first time I stayed here was March 2005 for a Streets concert. My husband and I booked an economy, no window room online- but we ended up with a window and a jacuzzi bath! Much better than we expected, but am completely with you on the shocking 70s decor (the Big Brother 5 Bedsit comes to mind). But anyway, the restaurant was fine, they organised... more
Cheap but not very cheerful
Having booked the hotel first then read the reviews, hubby and I tried to go with an open mind. We arrived at check in an hour early, didn't expect our room to be ready but were happy to leave our case and wander around town(location wise the hotel is ideally suited) Arrived back just after 3 and hung around reception for at least 15-20 minutes while a room was allocated to us.We were given a room on the 5th floor as we turned to go in the doorway there was a bucket outside the door catching drips of rain and also the wallpaper... more
Total Rubbish write to Langsam the owner/ceo
To be avoided - especially room 252 which must be above some of the kitchen or cellar facilties underneath which have 24/7 machinery going delivering a constant and invasive noise level to this room resulting in virtually zero sleep and then only in the armchair all of which including a generally filthy appearance to the rooms lead to - complaint to night staff resulted in them passing the complaint to the day staff who then said write in - following which absolutley no response from neither the hotel nor their head office - now considering... more
im glad i didnt listen to the reviews
after reading many of the reviews on sacha's i was expecting the worst. i can honestly say im glad i didnt listen to them, i dont know if this is after refurbishment or not but the staff were helpful, the room was a good size, it was warm (just like the food was), no mould, the bed was a double...hell it even had a fridge and a jacuzzi. having stayed at the other britannia hotel i can tell you this 1 is the better of the 2. me and my girlfriend went on a valantines day offer, being students we dont have money to throw around and this offered... more
Woeful
I have to agree with all the other comments. The Hotel is dated, cold, poorly maintained and not worth the money, even at £60 per night. One reviewer said "Stop complaining", sorry, but Hotel standards are much higher these days, and so are peoples expectations. We met a local, and he said that only the youngsters going out on the town use it, as the location is central, and its cheap!! The showers were particularly bad, they were either freezing cold, or boiling hot!! The double bed was in fact two singles pushed together. I... more
The worst ever
We booked into the hotel and were given a room, I was alone at this point I had three various sized bags and was informed that our room was on the fifth floor but no one offered any help with either the bags or guidance. I was confronted with what can only be described as a dark dingy cupboard. The main light did not work and there was no natural day light. Bearing in mind that I had paid well over £100 per night for this room I went straight back to reception where I requested a room change. This was done and I was sent again to the... more
Take care - there are two Britannia hotels....
....and Sachas is only for the desperate - and even then try for somewhere else. I had to stay here due to a late booking at a major conference. Firstly, it met my needs due its central location (Tib Street)and the fact that my bed was quite comfortable - I slept well while there. That's where the compliments end. It is a very tacky, dusty and grim place whose floorboards I never want to tread again - and even if I am desperate for accommodation will have to think long and hard about it. Here are the facts: on arrival my room... more
oh dear oh dear.
i wish i had read these reviews before i booked, they are so true! alright, it was a late booking the day before an england match so rooms were scarce but i'd gladly have paid more to stay somewhere else. i have to say i found the staff friendly and i was one of the lucky ones who got a room with a window and it was still very quiet considering its location. but thats all that can be said of it. the decor is VERY dated and shabby. the rooms look (and smell) like the hotel has been boarded up for 40 years and its just been opened up. the bed... more
