Mirachoro Apartments

Great resort, plenty of good restaurants and bars, must try Manel dos Frangos and Buzios on the strip. Beach is about 15 min walk from apartments.

The kitchen is well equipped with microwave, toaster, fridge etc. the bedroom is ok.

The bathroom was pretty grotty a lot of the tiles were broken and filled in with polyfiller, lumps of dirt and hairs etc in the corners on the bathroom floor.

One night there was no hot water for a bath or shower so we had to boil the kettle several times to have a wash. The rooms have no heating or air con.

Our room was cold all day and at night it was extremely cold. Luckily we were able to borrow a heater from reception but were told they only had a couple so not to say anything to the other guests.

Many of the other guests we spoke to were complaining about the cold. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful; they even complained how cold they were! Maybe the place is generally warmer in summer.

These apartments are maybe ok for groups of lads who don’t worry about where they are staying, but it’s a bit grubby to stay there for a main family holiday.

The resort itself is great and I will definitely be going back soon.

These apartments were not the best. Being one of many who do not like staying out late, there was too much noise and smoke. Everything was a complete rabble basically.

Most of the staff were very friendly. There was a pool which would be fine for say 10 goldfish.

Although the standard of this hotel was poor, the main strip was great. It was busy but not to busy. I would advise anyone planning to go here to book for the Hotel Algarve Casino.

Just returned from great week staying at the Mirachoro 3 apartments in Praia Da Rocha - 2 adults.

Accomodation: We booked the holiday 1 week before we travelled and went for accomodation on arrival. The Mirachoro Apartments were never going to be our first choice if we had chance to select in advance but they were pretty good. Ours was huge with plenty of space for 4 never mind 2. They were clean and although we could hear the main road the noise was rarely intrusive. The bar and pool area were tired but clean enough. The staff were excellent and all spoke really good English. A nice touch was a "Library" where you could swap books once you had finished them. The entertainment was a bit simple and not to our tastes but the resort more than compensated for this.

Beaches: Absolutely outstanding. Vau was a 15 minute walk down the main road which was quiet and family orientated. Lovely and clean with a couple of great little bars and restaurants for a bite to eat. Rocha is the one right in the main resort and although not as tidy as Vau it was really pleasant and offered all the usual watersports.

Resort: Offers all things to all people. If you want trashy, silly bars with huge sports screens and themed according to which part of the UK you live in - it can do that. If you want busy shops and better reatsurants - it can do that. If you want authentic Portugese cuisine it can do that too. In a nutshell you can find whatever sort of Meditteranean style holiday you want. The fishing port of Portimao is as close to the appts as Rocha and the fresh fish restaurants there are first class.

Overall: Do your homework - these appts are NOT right on the beach and are not going to win any awards for facilities but you get what you pay for. If you like eating out and lounging about on the beach and just want a base then this is ideal.

When we booked our holiday on line Direct holidays rated these apartments has 3 star but when we got there it was 2 star it did not warrant even a 2 more of a 1 star.

It is 15 mins to the main strip there is a smell of sewage in the mornings, the beer is terrible, the shower was more like a hose with a water rose on the end it was not even on the wall.

It is situated on the off the main road so it is very noisy at night the cooking facilities 2 rings and a microwave which is fine if you are a couple and plan to eat out but if you got children it would be a nightmare everything else e.g toasters, fans must be hired, has there is no air conditioning, there is no safe in the rooms you must leave valuables in reception in a hired safe there we have stayed in a 2 star before and we had all these, that I mentioned above, the pool is very small and there is a lot of development going on in the area, there is a coach 3 times a day going to the strip if you are lucky to get on it.

The strip is very busy with the usual novelty shop bars and restaurants the one place for a great breakfast is Dukes a great little British run cafe/restaurant at night lots of Irish bars no Scottish bars one welsh bar there one friendly Portuguese bar called classic in one of the busy side streets and for a steak try the raging bull spot on the beaches are lovely big and wide and plenty of sporting activities, and the views from the parade are breath taking, there are 2 main beggars one they call Santa and other that just stands there but they are armless but very watch able when your having a drink watching the world go by as you do.

If you are offered cheap gold by a street seller there do not touch it it's fools gold, if you do stay at Praia da Rocha stay away from the Mirachoro 1/2 has it's not in the direct travel brochure for next year so if you see it on the net ignore it, and be warned at the welcome meeting now they got a time share rep they say they are not time share but they are the companies name is pansanas or something like that but if you go on a excursion and want some euros back fall for it and give up a morning and you can reclaim up to forty euros back.

Pria De Rocha is a wonderful place, the beach, the bars and the restaurants cannot be faulted, very reasonable to eat out all the time.

The aparthotel was very basic no air conditioning and in a very noisy part of the road network but this would not put me off coming to this resort again. We only booked 1 week before we travelled so we got a bargain. The tour operators were very helpful and there were a lot of extra tours that we could have gone on but we preferred to do our own thing.
