My partner and I visited Manchester for the weekend and really enjoyed ourselves. There is plenty to do in Manchester, the ones I would not miss are the print works including the film works. Be sure to visit the iMax cinema, its worth every penny. The hotel we stayed in... more

Like sleeping on a cloud!
from Anji Page
I stayed here for just one night on a shopping trip to Manchester. Like other people, I had read the reviews and wondered what to expect but it was all perfect. The location was excellent for shopping in town and to get a bus to the Trafford Centre - just a 10 min walk to the bus station. The hotel lobby was spacious, as soon as I stepped out of the taxi, the door was opened and my case was taken from me. Despite arriving at 9.30 in the morning, my room was available. The room was great - a king size bed which was sooooo comfortable it was like sleeping on a cloud. Big squishy pillows, a thick white duvet - it was brilliant. The bathoroom had a walk in shower and a bath with nice toiletries. Used the spa for a swim and steam - both brilliant. Didn't use the gym but it looked well equipped with friendly staff. Will definitely be staying here again on my next trip to Manchester.
Excellent

This is the 4th Radisson that I have stayed in, and it is the best so far. The staff are all friendly, helpful and the service is great. The decor is very modern, the room I had on the 11th floor was a good size, with a wonderful bathroom and great views. I will be in Manchester again, and will be staying here. Recommended!! *****
Fabulous choice!
from Torontoniana
I had browsed through a few TripAdvisor reviews and was a bit worried about getting the full 5-star experience for the money that I and my partner had paid, but I do have to say that the hotel turned out to be simply fantastic and we ended up extending our stay by an additional night! The staff is frendly, the decor modern and definately not over-whealming, the rooms might seem on a smaller side at first, but only until you realize that the great layout makes up for it; the view over downtown Mancester from the 10th floor room is spetacular, the clean-ups and refills efficient, the bathroom superbly designed to make you feel pampered (thumbs up to the bathrobes!); and the down-stairs spa with their complimentary pool, sauna, whirlpool and gym use is a must to complete your vacation! Also, the A/C worked perfectly, the king size bed was very comfortable, the check-in and check-out were seamless, and the location is great, only 5 minute walk from Deansgate and 20 min walk from Piccadilly Garden. We did not have a chance to dine at the Opus restaurant located in the hotel as we preferred to browse through the local pubs and restaurants (check out the "Squares" located West on Peter Street - great for a quick meal), but it did seem to be a popular choice as it was busy every evening. For an excellently comfortable stay, Radisson Edwardian is the place!
Great design hotel

My girlfriend and I stayed here for 2 nights in May 2005. For the most part we enjoyed our stay and would happily return. I have no status with Radisson, but was upgraded to a higher floor with a nice view of Manchester (11th). The hotel is located in the center of the city within walking distance of most sites. The hotel is new construction and opened in 2004. The lobby and public spaces are smallish, but nicely done. The restaurant is in part of an historic building that was integrated into the hotel. I had dinner there and thought it was very good. It has been done in a modern Asian style that blends well into the old building. The pear and Stilton cheese melt was fantastic! The rooms are about 350 sq ft and on first look seem a bit small, but they are very nicely designed with quality furnishing and built-ins. Once you settle in they are quite comfortable and relaxing. I’ll take quality and attention to detail over size any day. The bathroom is very nicely done with a “wet” section done up in high quality white marble with greenish gray Norwegian slate trim. There is a separate shower with adequate (but not indulgent) water pressure (the bath took forever to fill). The grain of the marble is lined in the same direction and was installed with great precision. It is nice to see quality construction. The “dry” area has the sink and wardrobe and has hard wood flooring and is open to the bedroom. It to is very nicely done. Bathroom amenities are “Spa Therapy” by Gilchrist & Soames – not top quality, but still above average. The room has good robes and ultra comfortable slippers. The king size bed was comfortable and I slept very well, but the linens were not particularly luxurious and the pillows and comforter were polyester rather than down. The room has 100% halogen lighting – woo hoo! My rate included breakfast which is served in a nice room off the lobby (not the main restaurant). The buffet had a large selection of hot and cold items. The breakfast pastries were actually edible (they almost always suck in buffets). I had a few problems. When I returned to my room on day 2 at 6:30pm my room still had not been cleaned. Turns out you need to specifically turn your “please clean room” light on to get expedited service. Otherwise you get made up last. There was also a mix up with my paper in the morning. I got the feeling that during hot weather the AC might not work very well. It was cool outside during my visit and it was still ever so slightly warm in my room even after setting the thermometer to 18c (as low as it would go). Unlike my 2 day stay at the York Hilton where the staff was full of local characters varying greatly in age, the staff at the Radisson Edwardian Manchester were all various flavors of attractive Euro youth in their 20’s. If you are a very service oriented consumer you may find the staff a bit inexperienced. I’m not – give me a great room and I’m happy – so I found this to be a very nice hotel and would definitely enjoy staying there again

Have just spent the best part of a year staying in this hotel and will never choose anywhere else in Manchester.Having travelled a lot in Britain and abroad I am fully aware that British hotels are ridiculously overpriced for the standards achieved- see the Golden Tulip or the Copthorne in Mnachester. The Radisson Edwardian is the first hotel in Britain that I have found which matches the quality of service you can find in hotels in the rest of Europe (and they come at about a quarter of the cost). The rooms are fine. The service is incredible. Compared to the other hotels in Manchester I mentioned the staff are committed to providing a service as they tend to see their work as a vocation not just a work creation scheme or a temporary post until they get another job. They also see getting on with the guests and being friendly and hospitable to them as a welcome and interesting part of their work. Looking at most of the less good reviews posted about this hotel I notice that individual problems occurred during a stay and the reviewer has then projected that to be the norm... rather than any constructive appreciation of the hotel itself or it's qualities. Though I would agree with the bar prices and the restaurant is overpriced for the miniscule amount you get seved but you don't have to eat and drink there Manchester is awash with excellent pubs and restaurants (even within a 200 yard radius of the hotel)
Perfect

My husband brought me here for my birthday, we only stayed one night (saturday) and it was perfect. The standard rooms were of adequate size - decorated in trendy neutral colours, huge bed, nice furnishings - very contempory feel. Fantastic bathroom with seperate bath and walk in shower. Fluffy dressing gowns.....everything you could possibly need for that extra special break, well worth the extra pounds! We stayed on the 12th floor and the views over manchester were amazing - particulary at night. Room service was second to none - as soon as you`ve called - it`s there!!! The lift took some getting used to! The location of the hotel was great for what we wanted - a short walk (approx 5 mins) to Deansgate for shopping / bars / resturaunts. My opinion is 10 / 10 - cant wait to return - excellent.

I stayed at the Edwardian whilst on a business trip and was most impressed. From the outset, the staff were friendly and attentive, the hotel decor was clean and modern, yet adhered to its Edwardian roots, and the room included everything needed for comfort away from home. On top of that, the hotel has a very modern gym and pool area. The only downside is the price of valet parking, which was unfortunately high, but other than that highly recommended.
Great weekend stay

Stayed here on a Saturday just after the hotel opened. It is a lovely building, nicely renovated, and the rooms are spacious and comfy. I spent the afternoon in the spa and the treatments are good but on the expensive side - in retrospect, I'd have enjoyed spending the money on an extra couple of hours shopping on Saturday afternoon. Well placed for shops, bars and resturants, and we also enjoyed finishing off our evening in the hotel bar - until they kicked us out at 3.00 - we were the last people there and we could have ordered more drinks on room service if we'd wanted to. Staying here was a real treat and I'd recommend it - but for a good city centre Manchester experience at a lower price, I'd recommend the Rossetti.
5 Star luxary in a 5 star City

We stayed here for my Wife’s birthday this Christmas. We booked a deluxe room which opened out onto a covered terrace area. The room was fantastic with a large king sized bed, B&O TV and CD player. It also had a fabulous wet room bathroom area. Plus we had a complimentary bottle of Champaign in the room. It’s true that the bar and restaurant are both expensive, but the cocktails are excellent as was the food and service. Celeb spotting is also a bonus. My wife had an afternoon of treatments in the spar which she thoroughly enjoyed, whilst I went to the small gym and sauna/steam room area. Although we were there mid week, albeit the week before Christmas, I had both the gym, pool and entire spar area to myself (which I know is a fluke) but was simply bliss! Breakfast was reasonable but nothing out of the ordinary and was probably the weak point of our stay. All in all a very enjoyable say, right in the heart of a great City.
I love this hotel!

I stay at this hotel frequently. I've stayed in most of the 4* and both of the 5* hotels in Manchester, but I keep coming back. I get good service, front desk and reservations (Christine !) have always been unstintingly helpful. I have a tendancy to leave things in hotel rooms (I'm a woman..it happens!) and notably a new pair of leather boots which I didn't realise were missing for weeks..When I contacted the hotel in advance of my next stay the boots were there in my room with a nice note frm housekeeping. I was impressed. I also like bumping into celebrities..and this happens often enough to add to the fun. The wet rooms (in all room catagories) are brilliant..take a friend! Room service breakfast, fluffy robes, room service menu are everything you would expect. It's all there, yet in a unobtrusive way. Yes, sometimes you have a wait for check in, or the room isn't ready. This has happened once..and I was immediately offered a complimentary drink in the bar, I said coffee, but encouraged to have something stronger (didn't need too much encouragement!). I stay for business and pleasure (Manchester City beating Liverpool 1-0 was most definitely pleasure!!) and it works for both. I'm back again on the 9th May. Joy.

I stayed at the hotel with my partner on New Years Eve. Firstly, when we arrived at the hotel, the car was taken from us and parked safely and did not see the car until we departed on the Monday - New Years day. The reception area was outstanding for first impressions,... more
