Mitre Hotel

We stayed at the Mitre for one night on Saturday 6th May. We booked the hotel through activehotels, it cost us £224 for one triple room and one twin room (this did not include breakfast although the receptionist told us it did and then tried to charge us on check out but we refused) The good points about this hotel: 1. Can't believe some of the reviews. I was only charged £26 for a single room, and my firend also. I got what seemed like a double room for the same price. The room was clean and warm. The water takes a little while to run warm but when it does the water is extremely hot, so I don't understand some of the other reviews on this, perhaps they were too impatient. We went to Manchester as we were going to see a concert at the M.E.N Arena, so we tried to find a hotel near, and we did, THE MITRE HOTEL. When we arrived we were given the wrong key to our room, inside the room we found a pornographic magazine in the wardrobe (obviously the room had not been cleaned before we arrived) there was also a hole in the wall between ourselves and the next room. We also found used tissues down the back of the bedside cabinets. Also we didn't get any sleep at all due to the noise. This ruined our stay in Manchester.... more

We stopped here for one night last November to do our Christmas shopping. It was fairly tatty round the edges, but clean enough and the breakfast was hot. The location and price more than makes up for any marks lost in other areas.

My husband and I stayed at the Mitre Hotel last weekend. We tried various other places but as it was a busy weekend in Manchester everywhere was booked up. The one thing i will say about this hotel is that the location is excellent you can see Selfridges, The Printworks and Harvey Nicholls through the window, thats why over the phone i thought £89 to stay was quite reasonable but there is no way this hotel is worth that money. My husband and i stayed here after a concert. we were charged 45 pounds, which was a rip-off considering the room. goodness knows how bad the reviewer who paid 100 pounds felt! the bed was concrete, no air-con on a horribly hot night, not even a fan. staff were nice about looking after our bags, but nothing could excuse a broken shower and tepid bath. after 3 hours at a rock concert, a shower is definitly on the cards! a definite case of getting what u pay for.

A friend an I stayed in this hotel for one night after going to a concert at the MEN arena. The room was nothing fancy, but clean, comfortable and perfectly acceptable. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful, and quite happy to serve us in the hotel bar after the concert. I would definately stay there again.

The only good thing about this place is it's location, in Manchester city centre. The first room I was given, was up 48 stairs (no lift, or help) and to say it was dirty, and reeked of cigarettes is an understatement. For example, cigarette ash on the windowsill, human hairs on one of the pillows, and a toilet you really would not like to sit on. Agree with the previous reviewers re the great location. Stayed here just before Christmas after my work do in Manchester. Some of the rooms have been recently & nastily decorated, our room still stank of paint fumes. THe bathroom was a joke, terrible water pressure & lukewarm water. Breakfast was Ok, by which I mean edible. Not recommended

I stayed here for a single Friday night so that I would not have to drive after our office Christmas party. The location of the Mitre is spot-on for the Arndale Centre shops and only 5-10 mins walk from the Metrolink tram. My single room was clean, and everything worked OK including a good electric shower and a small colour TV. The breakfast the next morning was great - orange juice, choice of cereals or grapefruit, tea, toast and a full English breakfast.
