Jurys Manchester Inn Hotel Reviews

8 / 10
Jan 2008, Mrs J Marshall

We stayed here for a family wedding. The function facilities were great, food was excellent, and the staff were very attentive. The room was clean, spacious with good facilities. It is a typical Jurys Inn hotel; they have good standards but are really middle of the road... more

Great for STAG/HEN parties
Stayed in Jurys Inn for a weekend with 10 other friends. The hotel is located approx. 10 minutes from the city centre and I advise getting off the TRAM the stop before G-MEX and walking towards Jurys Inn as its less complicated with so many exits at G-MEX. The hotel is geared towards large groups of hen & stag parties. This is common throughout Manchester where a lot of stag & hen parties are going on. All the pubs and clubs have a great relaxed attitude and there seems to be no trouble at all. The rooms in Jurys Inn, as compared to others I've stayed in were very clean and we had no problem booking a late checkout after our second night. Overall the hotel suited our needs perfectly and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend a group of friends booking Jurys Inn and staying in Manchester for the weekend.
Ford Mondeo of the hotel world
I stayed at Jurys inn on business in March 2007 and my headline says it all. This hotel does all you want without inspiring you in any way at all. Of course it's a Jury Inn rather than hotel so we're in Travellodge country but even so it is totally bland. On a positive note its well located for G Mex, Town Hall and central attractions. Breakfast was of a good standard, hot and plebtiful. However it's very much a self service cafeteria environment. My room was a little grubby (It looked like a previous occupant had problems with some face powder, as there were traces left I wondered about general standards of cleaning). However my colleagues had no problems so maybe I was unlucky. I stayed on business and if I was booked in by the company again I wouldn't complain, but nor would I seek it out. So, as I said above, like a Mondeo it does al you could ask; but at the same time there's a lot of competition out there looking for your money and you may be able to do better.
Excellent location, great value
Right in the centre of Manchester, this has to be the bargain of the year. We paid just £59 per room through laterooms.com, and each room can sleep up to 3 adults. Breakfast was not included, but that was fine - we walked down to a great veggie restaurant "Eighth Day" in the student area of Oxford Road (10-15 mins). After that we walked up to the main shopping area (25 mins, but would have been 10 from the hotel). The reception staff were friendly and helpful, the room and bathroom spotless and the beds comfortable. We parked at the G-MNex carpark opposite which offers a discount if you get your ticket validated by the hotel. For city centre budget stays, this would take some beating.
worth the discount price
Stayed there for 1 night Sunday to Monday. Large enough and clean room and bathroom, comfortable bed, quiet since the windows are well insulated and keep out the street noise. Plumbing in the bathroom is a bit outdated, the toilet could do with a more sophisticated flushing system. Conveniently located in downtown Manchester near to the G-Mex. The price for this night was 69 GBP, the usual rate is 130 GBP. I think it's worth the discounted rate, but for 130 GBP you can probably find something better.
Good value and position
Although we had read of poor breakfast's in The Jury's Inn we found them to be fine. It is a buffet style breakfast and had a decent choice and was well presented. There is a hot plate with a traditional Irish/ English selection plus a continental style and again, there seemed a good choice. Perhaps they have acted on previous critisism! The hotel is about 10 minutes walk from the Arndale shopping mall and has numerous shops, bars and restaraunts within 5 minutes. It's about a 15 minute to walk to the Printworks entertainment complex and public transport is good in the area so getting to the shops at the Trafford Centre should be easy enough with the tram system passing the bottom of the road. Ask the front desk (Ben Bruce) to recommend where to eat. We did and they didn't let us down, with our favourite being the Chinese just 3 or 4 minutes walk away so very handy indeed. In general the staff were efficient and polite although some bar staff sometimes seemed a little surly, this was not the norm and they didn't spoil what was a good stay. The two TV's in the bar are sports orientated and that is just as well as the hotel seems popular with football fans visiting the city to see either Manchester Utd or City at the weekends and husbands looking to escape the shooping trips!! We found the hotel to be clean and well mantained, the information from staff to be good, the meals both morning at breakfast and dinner at night to be of good value and quality and of a general professional attitude to the running of the hotel. Our room didn't have a great view but was large and had adequate storage space for our clothes plus we were not disturbed by other guests or street noise.
good value for money
stayed here for one night in March, the staff were all friendly and the reception desk efficient. The room was clean as was the bathroom which is in need of updating, no room to put toiletories on the small shelf. It is in a good location and we walked to a fantastic chinese restaurant, breakfast at the hotel was self service with plenty of choice.
Excellent Location
I stayed at the Jury's for one night in February. Having stayed at Jury's in Boston (& loved it) I had high expectations of this hotel. The reception area is nice & we were able to check in at mid-day which was great. The best thing about the hotel is the location - a 10 minute stroll into the centre where all the shops are. No parking at the hotel but you do get a discount off parking at the G-Mex centre across the road - the aprking cost £9 for 24 hours. Great Italian Restaurant just up the road called Gio - we had a great meal in there. The rooms are quite small - much smaller than a travelodge room for example. We had a double bed plus a single. There was a very funny smell in the bedroom which was a little offputting. We had a deal which included breakfast. The breaksfast was buffet style & OK - although the actual breakfast room was more like a cafe than a hotel dining room. Personally, if I went to Manchester again I wuold stay at the Premier Travellin just up the road - this hotel was OK but nothing to write home about.
Functional and Good Location
From the outside and upon entering this hotel looks and feels quite plush. The rooms and corridors are, however, slighly dated with a slightly off putting light green coloured theme. Excellent location right opposite the GMEX arena which was perfect for the purpose of our visit on 22 Dec 2006 to see a Morrissey concert. About 15-20 miunutes walk from Manchester Picadilly Station and excellent walking distance to the central entertainment and shopping areas. The room was clean, quite spacious and had ample storage facilities. Tea/coffee also provided. Great bathroom with large walk in shower. Shower mechanism was a bit stiff and the shower head was fixed to the wall. Overall a good hotel for a short stay. Would stay again on the cheap Internet rate.
A great value hotel
I spent one night in this hotel the week before Christmas and it was great value for money. The reception and public areas are slightly more up to date than the rooms but the room was perfectly pleasant, clean and comfortable. There is a bth as well as a shower. the decor was modern and not fussy. The reception staff were really helpful and provided ice for wine I had bought along and contacted a local restaurant where I wanted to book a meal. It is very easy to get to this hotel, with the tram stop being very close and I would highly recommend this hotel within the prcie bracket it comes under. I paid £59 booking directly on the hotel website
Don't bother unless very cheap!
This was arranged for me by a colleague in my companies' Manchester office, as she couldn't get me into the hotel they generally use. It was a week or so ahead but still came in at £148 (I've no idea if she went direct or via a website etc). The hotel looks quite decent from outside and in the reception area and the reception staff were very professional. I then went to the room and found a room I would expect in a travelodge. There was nothing wrong with it, but didn't feel up to the standard of the price being paid. There was no free broadband wifi - instead it was a wired connection at £5/hour or £10 for 24 hours. Again acceptable in a cheap hotel but not at this price! I went down to the on-site bar/pub for dinner and had a nasty burger for dinner - the bread was stale, the burger overcooked... You would think any pub can cook a burger. Oh well, off to bed to listen to the exceedingly noisy air conditioning. Eventually gave up with that turned it off and tucked myself in tight to try and keep warm! Woke up and went down to breakfast and was surprised, considering the number of people getting breakfast, that some of the hot food was cold and had obviously been cooked some hours previously. Another disappointment! I don't ask much of a hotel when on a one-night business trip, but this place didn't even manage the low standard I suspected I would get.
