Express By Holiday Inn Manchester East Hotel

We stayed at Holiday Inn Express Manchester East for 1 night on Saturday the 26th June and really don't understand the bad reviews..... We booked it because of its location, just outside Manchester, so we could go to Bellevue Stadium, as it is only a short taxi ride away from the stadium. I read the reviews on Trip Advisor the night before we travelled and i was really worried after reading them..... But i have to say that we were pleasantly surprised!!!!! Situated in a run down area of Manchester this hotel is not the best. I wouldn't recommend walking around this area at night and the hotel had posters advising to watch your valuables in cars etc which didn't give us much confidence. The hotel itself is pretty run down and the net curtains in our room were pretty shabby. It shows the type of people this hotel must have staying when they have to put a screw into the back of the remote control so that nobody steals the batteries!!! 50% of the staff were unhelpful, we only seen about 4... more

This is the worst Express by Holiday Inn I have ever stayed in. Before we even got in the Hotel there's posters from the police on the door warning car owners about the risk of break ins in the car park and again this poster is on the wall behind Reception. Reception wasn't manned and there was no sign of staff so we ended up waiting nearly 10 minutes to check in. I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights, my husband, myself and my two children. I found it to be excellent value as the price you pay is the price for the room and not per person. The continental buffet breakfast is very good as you can fill yourself up with a good selection of cereals, pastries, juices, yoghurts, toast, jam, coffee, tea, hot chocolate etc. The hotel is very new looking although I noticed it has been open since 2000. Clean, newish hotel. Rooms are very much the Holiday Inn Express standard, the highlight being a wonderful power shower. The staff are very friendly and try very hard. It is a shame that the area it is in is pretty rough. To go out for a drink or a meal some kind of transport is essential. About a twenty minute bus ride will take you to the city centre.

We booked this hotel as a base for a visit to Man City FC. The hotel is about 2 miles away from Man City FC, we did walk however it was a nice day with no rain, but probably a good to get a taxi (£5) if your not keen walkers. Room - very clean, wam, modern, tea/coffee facilities, double bed with sofa bed also, no bath (dissapointment after a long walk) however the shower was good. Staff - Very friendly and helpful. Breakfast - This is only continental however the choice is good and healthy!, nothing to complain... more

The hotel is what you can expect from a Holiday Inn Express. A bit less, actually. I've stayed at HIE better than this. Also, I was coming from Japan and probably was spoiled by their cleanliness and politeness, so it was a bit disappointing to find a single old towel and sand-toilet-paper in the bathroom. But what's terrible about this hotel is its location. Don't stay here unlesse you absolutely have to. This is a run-down area, and there is no place to eat around. The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. We arrived at 11.00am but were able to go to our rooms right away. The rooms were clean and bright and the shower in the bathroom was fantastic and there were tea and coffee making facilities in the room, along with a tv/radio and hairdryer. The only downside to the hotel was that it was quite a walk to Manchester City football grounds and you would have to get a bus/taxi to the centre. There are plenty of bus stops along Hyde Road though and you can get a day tracker ticket... more

OK - so you get what you pay for but actually its not quite as bad as i expected. For starters its pretty new - which helps. It's off the main road, so its very quiet. There is a small bar area where they also serve continental b/fast - but i didn't use it. The rooms are a reasonable size, well insulted for sound. The bathroom has an excellent shower - powerful and hot. I stay in 5-stars around the world for work so i was pretty apprehensive about staying here (i won't go into why) but i didn't have any unpleasant... more
