I stayed in this hotel in Manchester as it had a great location - 5 minutes from Piccadilly Station and the shops! The hotel is an old converted building which has been done up to be very modern and trendy. The entrance is grand, but the reception desk is up some steps... more

Very different from the standard city centre hotel, each room being individual with its own character. The building was the former head office of a major cotton manufacturer. There are high ceilings on every floor. Some of the furniture in our room was trendy but not... more

This hotel is not at all how they describe themselves. They promote themselves as being New York style loft. I would say hostel style. The rooms are Art Deco meets 70s Retro meets school hall meets Ikea. There is a communal little kitchen where you must go if you want to... more

Nice Hotel
I've just had a 2 night stay at this hotel - on business in Manchester. Its very handy for the main railway station being a two minute walk away and its in the middle of a vibrant area, plenty of bars and shops etc, some of them quite trendy. The hotel itself is very trendy, apparently recently refurbished, it won't be everyone's cup of tea but they've done a nice job of it. Chandeliers in the corridor's along with Andy Warhol poster's and even a Sex Pistols poster! The rooms certainly are different to the usual although I'm not... more
Just Lovely!!
My husband and I stayed in the hotel for 2 nights. The room was clean and very unique We had dinner on the first night in the Michael Caines restaurant witch was extraordinary!! The food was absolutely wonderful. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They made sure we enjoyed our stay even more. Especially the young lad at reception. The only down part was finding parking. We ended up parking in the NCP that was across the road. We luckily got 20 percent discount. I am absolutely shocked at the other comments, we simply had a lovely... more
Fantastic
When we arrived at Abode we were greeted by 3 extremely friendly and helpful English staff which was a refreshing change, we were asked if they could help us with anything and even got us on the guest list of 3 new bars and clubs at no charge! We stayed in rooms 111 and 113 and found them to be beyond our expectations, they were very clean and spacious with the most comfortable bed i have ever slept in including my own! I have to say that this is the best hotel i have ever stayed in and i am a very fussy person! We cannot wait for another... more
Never Again!!!
For a special birthday celebration m y husband and I wanted to dine at the Michael Caines Restaurant, having heard rave reviews about this Michelin starred chef. In order to get the best fron the weekend, we also booked to stay in one of the hotel's enviable rooms. It first went pear shaped when they had no note of our booking! Nevertheless a room was found - though we failed to see what was enviable about it, apart from it being very large. It was minimalism beyond imagination, and we have had more luxury in a Premier Inn - + despite a... more
Management response from ManchesterGM

As stated before Abode Manchester is not in a position to disclose any further information on the alleged theft since it will compromise the outcome of the ongoing investigations. We take the safety and wellbeing of our guest very serioulsy indeed, and will continue to offer great personable service to all our guests.

Ok hotel, but not fantastic
We stayed here for one night, as part of a prize to see Kylie in concert. As it was the concert was amazing but the hotel left a lot to be desired! I am glad we were not paying for the hotel ,but i did feel for the company who booked it. We arrived at the hotel just after 2pm - which is when their website said we could chek in. The surly youth on reception informed us that our room was not ready but we were welcome to sit in the bar and have a drink while we waited. As we were onlt here for one night we wanted to make the most of our... more
Management response from ManchesterGM

Firstly may I apologise for the serious shortfalls in the normally high standards of customer care at Abode Hotels with regard to cleanliness of the room and the service issues you experienced. Thank you for taking the time and trouble for being so constructive about these matters, please be assured that we have taken these issues very seriously indeed. I have spoken to the relevant departments concerned and reminded them of our responsibility to our excellent brand reputation. Whereas I realise my apologies and assurances may be of little consequence to you in retrospect, we are very keen to restore your faith in Abode Manchester. Please contact me directly at the hotel to discuss your experience in more detail. I look forward to hearing from you and welcoming you back to the Manchester Abode Hotel in the very near future. Yours sincerely Johan Scheepers General Manager

A lovely hotel in Manchester
I stayed at ABode for one night in one of their Comfortable rooms. The location is very central - about 3 minutes' walk from Piccadilly Station and the same again from Piccadilly Gardens. The area has been considerably gentrified in recent years and is a safe place to walk around even late at night. I don't know what ABode was before it was a hotel, but it's a lovely old building with gorgeous old tiles, wood panelling, hardwood floors and vintage posters everywhere. The room I was in was at the back of the building, so very quiet. The... more
Average Rooms
Stayed at Abode Manchester first weekend of June 2008 visiting friends for a 40th birthday. Don't know Manchester that well but hotel easy to find on Picadilly. NCP car park opposite that serves the hotel and you get 20% off your car parking if staying at the hotel. No problems with check-in at all and the main receptionist seemed very efficient and pleasant to deal with. We had booked a Comfortable Room for a Sat night stay at an all inclusive rate, including breakfast, at £125 per night. Can't fault the room in terms of cleanliness.... more
Enviable???
Booked an Enviable Room so was expecting something pretty special. Maybe I expected too much but I was a bit disappointed. The room was pretty large but apart from that there wan't much else to shout about, nothing particularly wrong but I don't think the room warranted 'Enviable' status. Room had large comfortable double bed with nice crisp clean sheets. Bathroom was standard with some signs of average at best workmanship and a less than powerful rain shower over the bath - the redeeming feature was the high quality freebie toiletries. Room... more
Generally pretty good
My husband and I and his parents stayed in this hotel for a long weekend. Room Initially my husband and I were put in a very small room and it was incredibly noisy. Beware room 102 on the 1st floor. It is on the road, next to the wooden stairs and lift. The hotel is an old building that has been renovated and whilst the wooden floors look lovely they are a bit problematic in terms of the noise. I am not a complainer normally but even I couldn't cope with that room so we requested a swap. The hotel did an pretty good... more
Great new Manchester hotel
This is a new hotel in an old converted mill. It looks grand from the outside and the inside doesn't disappoint. It has a lot of original features which makes the place quite unique. The bar/cafe area is contemporary and stylish, with some great cocktails. There is a restaurant and champagne bar downstairs which we didnt get the chance to see. The service throughout is courteous and efficient and the rooms have plenty of goodies. All in all, an impressive start and we'll be heading back soon!
