" The Best Holiday Ever "

Myself & my husband are just back from staying in Tropicana for 12 nights and we had the best holiday ever, we have been to many places in Turkey but never have we experienced the fun and friendlyness we got at Tropicana. Rooms were perfect size and very clean, never used a safe box as thats how safe the place is, huge pool with plenty of space available for sunbeds, the bar was open 24 hours which is always a good thing, sometimes we wouldnt even need to leave the hotel at night because there was entertainment nightly and the staff alone were entertaining enough (Tunjai, Jengo, Firat, Deniz, Hassan, Firkan, Hakan,Rambo and all the rest and not forgetting Yunis the manager, what a friendly/funny guy, made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived, always had time for a chat (as did they all). Gumbet is a beautifull stroll away from the hotel down by the bars and restaraunts (less than 10min walk), we will definately be returning next year if we dont get back this year. So thanks again Tropicana for the best holiday, we shall see you all again.....

" Relaxing fun!! "

Well what can i say, i would go back tomorrow!! Loved it. Location was great, staff were great, local restaurants were great (once you knew which ones to go for) Our room was small (compared to my 2 girls' room) but very adequate for what we needed, which was basically the shower and the bed!! From yunis (the boss) to Elvis (the reception dude) to Hassan, Dennis, Gengis, Tungay (the bar and food dudes) and not forgetting Rambo (the beach dude) they were all absolutely ace. Such lovely people! I know they see people change day in day out, but when you get on well with them, they will go out of their way to help you out in any way they can. Loved them all :)

Advice: Off the main drag but close enough to get involved with nightlife........ and so close to the beach!

Activities: Mistral, Carpedien and definitely The Angel (furthest away but great food)

Good for: Beach

" What a team!  "

Three girls aged 25/26 had an amazing time at Tropicana Beach last week! I'm not really into beach holidays but still had an awesome time. Hotel is clean, comfortable and reasonably priced- not a single complaint. Pool is lovely, and hotel so very close to the beach. The beach is shingle though, not sand!!
What made the holiday was the staff though. For 3 girls away, we had the best treatment ever, the guys were so good to us on every level, made us really welcome and treated us like their sisters. We appreciated it sooo much!! Special thanks to Tunjay- Mr T!, Diegoooo!, Hassan, BARANNN!!! (WE LOOOVVEEE YOU BABYYY!!), Benhur, Chef, Yunis, Deniz, Jengo, Romeo, and all the other boys!!
If ur going to GUmbet, i would 110% recommend this place!!

" BEST HOLIDAY EVER! "

Had the best time at Tropicana Beach! All the staff are so lovely and welcoming! We're two 22 and 23 year old girls and felt so safe and comfortable within the hotel. We'd come out as part of a chillin' holiday but wanted somewhere to go for cocktails and dancing. Tropicana Beach has a 24 hour bar and there's plenty of bars next to the resort, so we found the place perfect! The apartment was the perfect size for 2 girls and it was very clean. The maid is so lovely and would always say good morning to us and wave goodbye. We felt comfortable leaving cameras/mobiles in the bedroom, but used a safety deposit box for our cash. Even then, we accidently left the key in reception one night, but knew our valuables would be safe! The shower stayed warm throughout your whole shower and it was nice and powerful! The pool is a great size, you can easily have a quick dip without getting annoyed by the children playing/splashing around you. There's also lots of places to sunbathe and there are always lots of sunbeds. We didn't venture out to the beach much as the sand was very rough, but the pool was lovely enough anyways. Many guests leave inflatable pool toys behind, so there's always something for young (and old!) children to play with.
The staff made the holiday for us! Every member was so lovely and would help you with anything you needed. It took Elvis a while to like us, but he loved us by the end of the week! The entertainment the staff put on a night was fantastic and is fun for all ages. The age range of guests is from babies to grandparents, it's just fantastic!
The 24 hour bar can get pretty lively at night time if there are younger guests about (teens-early 20's) but the staff make sure the music isn't blaring loud so it doesn't disturb the sleeping guests. The hotel is very peaceful at night (now that we're gone anyways, haha) and you can enjoy a goodnights sleep.
All our thanks goes to the amazing staff at Tropicana Beach. We are so glad we booked this hotel and would definately come back again! We gave everyone nicknames that were that nice haha. Thank to; Yunis, Elvis (grumpy), Deniz (denizilin), Romeo, Jenga (jumanji), John (gorm), Rambo (biatch), Ozzie, Totti (curly sue), Flash (can't remember his real name), Grandad (can't remember his real name) and whoever else we've forgot KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND WE'LL BE BACK SOON!!!

Advice: watch out for men with roses, young men sat on the grass in the dark and running up bar tabs!

Activities: Windy boy, carpe diem = best places to eat! shakers & x-bar are great bars at night

" Fantastic hotel, huge pool, friendly staff "

Fantastic hotel with huge pool, great for a long swim. Gumbet centre is about a 10 minute walk away by the beach. We had the self catering room which was a very good size with seperate living area, kitchenette, bedroom and bathroom. Shower was good pressure and warm (not hot) but good enough. We had to get the fridge swapped out as suddenly stopped working half way through the week (if you use the budget brand 'Arcelik' you're in trouble!) The hotel did this very quickly though, so top marks for that. Staff very friendly, especially Deniz - always made you feel welcome.
A few prices from the hotel: From the bar - large beer 4.50TL, small soft drink 4TL, pizza (not great) 8TL, English breakfast 6TL. Water from their shop 3TL for 5litre. Milk 3.50TL. Cheaper stuff in town if you want to carry back.
A few negative points: The music from the bar was very loud at night, sometimes past 2am. I had to use earplugs and could still hear the music. Luckly I had requested a quiet room and was away from the bar somewhat, however I probably would've had a heart attack if I'd been placed any nearer. If you have a room with pool/sea view, you will have problems!
The other problem was that we'd booked a room with balcony, as was the description given by TravelRepublic. However they put us on a ground floor room with no balcony (just a little space for a table and chairs). Although I was very unhappy about this at first, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise due to the noise problems highlighted above.
A lot of reviews mentioned the cleanliness of the hotel. This is true, apart from our shower had rather a lot of mould etc around the cubicle which should be remedied easily by a weekly scrub.
Another bad thing - the hotel charges £30 a week for air conditioning. This is outrageously extortionate, the most I've ever paid in Turkey was half that - luckily the nights were cool enough for us not to need this, but give it a few more weeks, and you will have to pay!
ABOUT GUMBET: We went the very first week of June and the place was like a ghost town. Some hotels and restaurants were even closed. A lot of the main bars had literally no-one in at peak time, which was worrying and made for a quiet atmosphere. Simarlarly, the Dedeman waterpark (book through travel agent for cheaper price 30TL) was almost empty when we went.
Tips: If you've done a boat trip in Marmaris, the ones in Gumbet are surprisingly very different. They almost haven't heard of all inclusive drinks on the trips, and will always price you for standard. The boats are also a lot smaller. Black Island on the boat trips is sold as having thermal springs and mud baths - not true. You pay 4TL (just under £2) to swim into a tiny, shallow cave then come out again - big rip off and tourist trap!
A lot of sites on the net say Bodrum doesn't have a beach - this is not true! It does, but it is all shingle. However there are various sunbeds belonging to the bars on the beach, and the water is a LOT clearer than Gumbet's which is meant to be THE beach resort of Bodrum!
Finally, the hassle you get from bars, flower sellers, restaurants, and even shops is unbearable. I'm very used to it from previous Turkey holidays, but think this is the worst I've ever had - actually being stopped in my path on the street, and almost begged to come in. Most will not take no for an answer.
Gumbet is a lot smaller than somewhere like Marmaris, but I'd say it was a good resort overall, with good restaurants and some good bars. If you stay at the Tropicana, you'll have a cracking holiday here!

" Brilliant hotel with excellent management & staff "

Been to Gumbet several times but these Apartments are the best we have stayed in. They are in a great location right by the beach with lovely views across the bay and only a short stroll from the shops, bars and restaurants of Gumbet Centre. They have a lovely pool area with plenty of sunbeds and a good sized pool. The apartments are nicely decorated, clean and spacious with a fair sized balcony with table and chairs. The bar and restaurant served good, reasonably priced food practically all day with excellent service from the waiters and bar staff. All the staff and the manager Yunis were friendly, helpful and good fun and really made our holiday.
There are some lovely restaurants on the beachfront and in the centre and I have to say we didnt have a bad meal all holiday. Our favourite restaurants were Windy Bay & Mistral on the beachfront where the food was delicious and excellent value.
We will definately be going back to these apartments again as soon as possible!

Advice: Lovely resort with beautiful views across the bay, plenty of shops, bars and restaurant

Activities: Windy Bay & Mistral - steakhouses were our favourite restaurants - delicious food & good value

" This hotel is fantastic and the staff... "

This hotel is fantastic and the staff are so funny and brilliant. I went with my friend (2 girls) and they do not perve on you and are the nicest people. Just want you to have a good time. It is very clean, food fantastic and use bottled water ice cubes.
The beach is shingly but that is the only bad thing, just stay around the pool! Ask the staff about turkish baths and the boat trip because they can get you better prices. The boat trip is good and the baths definately recomended. The bars are fantastic and had the best holiday ever.
Take your own towel as they dont like you using the hotels for lying around the pool. The hairdryers in the rooms are not that great so ake your own. Thanks Elvis, Romeo, Soy, Jengo, Rambo, Yunis, Brev, Hakan and anyone else I forgot to mention!!
We are going back next year and wish we had stayed longer.

" First visit to Turkey and loved every... "

First visit to Turkey and loved every minute thanks to the manager and the staff at Tropicana. Nothing ever too much trouble. We went to the Tropicana because our first hotel was atrocious, my friend was remembered from the year before and they got us in a room straight away. Everything was spotless, pool was fantastic, beach only steps away and a lovely walk through to Bar Street. I run a bar in England and if i could i would have taken all the staff home with me.
Thanks for a great holiday Yunis and the guys. Love ya all, see ya soon xx

" We had our best holiday yet at... "

We had our best holiday yet at Tropicana Beach. Hakan on reception was very helpful as when we arrived the apartments were full apart from one room - room 101. Which wasnt what we expected. However Hakan moved us the next day as a room was available which overlooked the pool and Gumbet bay, which was beautiful. The apartments and pool area were exceptionally clean. Thanks to all staff for making our holiday an enjoyable experience Hakan, Furkan, Atasoy, Yunus, Romeo, Rambo, Cengiz, Orcun, Brave, Jimmy and Angel to name a few. And also thank you to Yunis the manager who has a very good team of staff. Also a fight for sunbeds wasnt on the cards this year as we managed to return from a trip at 3 in afternoon and managed to get best sunbeds. Had a good laugh with Rambo, Yunus and Brave during the day - they threw me in the pool more times than i can remember. Also Soy for putting ice on me while i sunbathed - thank you ! Would recommend the Turkish massgage from the Siesta apartments next door we were in for a good few hours.

Would definatly return to Tropicana Beach as it was only a short walk to all restaurants and bars. Had many lovely meals in Aloha, Sami Plaza, The Tempo to name a few. Many good nights were spent in The Atlantis Bar - who are all pretty crazy but brillaint fun and good entertainers, Aloha Bar was also good staff friendly and hard working. We had no bad meals whilst in Gumbet would recommend boat trips and dreamgirls also a trip to the Turkish village which was worth experiencing. Gill, who was situated between the Atlantis bar and The tempo restaurant, was brilliant at organising our trips.

Definatly wanting to return to Tropicana next year as it was a brilliant holiday and the staff at Tropicana were amazing and helpful at all times. Cant wait to return next year!

Thank you everybody at Tropicana for a great holiday x

" This is the fourth time my wife and I... "

This is the fourth time my wife and I have been to Turkey but our first time in Gumbet. When you read the reviews before you go you tend to believe some are too good to be true but every review was spot on! The accommodation, with a double bed, was the best furnished we have ever experienced and the hotel was always clean. The food was excellent both for value and taste.
The staff, Brave, Romeo, Jimmy, Rambo, Toyboy, Dolphin to name only those we can remember were the friendliest and most helpful we have met.
The manager, Yunis Deniz, is a wonder! We had some teething problems with our appartment, due to us being the first to use it since refurbishment, but they were all solved the same day.
This was the first time I have seen the value of a rep! Terry one of the friends we met there needed to go into hospital and be out by the time we were due home. Hazel, from Thomas Cook, worked her socks off and made it all possible.
The jeep safari and The Dream Girls, a drag show, were both fantastic and well worth going on. Be careful when paying with a credit card through the rep. They use a higher rate of exchange and we ended up paying £9.00 more when it got to our credit card company!
If you are buying jewelery it is very good quality but don't believe them when they say it will be worth two or three times more in England!
The markets are worth visiting but beware prices are not as cheap as they used to be and we found some items like T-shirts and shoes cheaper it town.
There is a plethera of restaurants all serving good quality food but the best value was Cafe Colombia where you could get a three course steak meal and a free bottle of wine for about 35YTL (New Turkish Lire) or £15.00.
The dolmus, a local bus, cost at set price of 2YTL to almost anywhere including Bodrum.
What can we say bad about the Topicana? The music is very loud at night but that may be cos we is old!

" Don't really know how to explain how... "

Don't really know how to explain how wonderful this hotel is! Never heard a complaint whilst there. Me and my friend are 2 21 year old girls, never been to turkey before and were looking for a relaxing beach holiday with some lively and fun nights out, and we got much more than we expected. The hotel itself is directly on the beach with lovely views of the bay especially at sunset. It has its own private sunbeds and cushions on the beach for 1 poundish per day, perfect for relaxing. beach is very clean and if you like dogs you will love the wild dogs who are so friendly and love the people! The pool is huge, and about 1.6 m deep everywhere which is very good for swimming but unfortunatly not so good for watergames if your short like me, but the sea is perfect for that as is nice and shallow.
The rooms were cleaned every day, and not too early around midday which is great if you like to sleep in the mornings like us. As for the views, we didnt have a balcony but we had a lovely terrace with beautiful gardens surrounding it, so dont be too disapointed if you dont get a sea view, you will have lovely views of flowers!

The best part by far of this hotel however were the staff. Everyone of them absolutly made our holiday! from the bar staff to the waiting staff to the free massages from rambo on the beach. They work so hard, and ensure your holiday is a memorable one. We were extremly sad to leave! No entertainment at the hotel however there is a 24hr bar with all the music u can imagine with requests taken well, and the staff make sure you get up and have a dance on the bar, no matter what your age (73 year olds on there when we were there!). Many thanks Cengiz, Romeo, Brave, Rambo, Soy and all the other staff for making our holidays!

Other things to note..hotel is a 5 min walk along the beach to the centre so in a nice quiet part of town, but of course not far away from entertainment, but we prefered getting a taxi home because its quite dark and daunting on the beach for 2 girls at 4am, but it only cost 7 lira or 2/3 pounds. A nice stroll though on the way out! Definatly not too far out. Gumbet centre is quite good, not as mad as tenerife or zante etc, but plenty to do for all ages. There are a few small clubs and plenty of bars and loaddsss of restaurants, definatly reccomend red dragon for a meal of any kind...stunning food (as is the hotel food too!). Watersports etc can be done on the beach, shopping galore just wish i had more spending money. Went on a boat trip for 10 quid all day including a meal, fantastic. Also went to bodrum the dolmus bus stops outside the hotel and costs 2 lira/70p and runs 24hrs. Bodrums very ncie lots of nice restaurants amazing shops and good bars. Also big nightclub if you fancy that but we didnt try it cus it was expensive to get in.

Finally the weather was very hot take lots of suncream 47 degrees in june! nice wind though as it is on a bay, and air con was fantastic.

one last say... stay here! we will definatly be back and reccomending to evryone
