For 3 girls away, we had the best treatment ever, the guys were so good to us on every level, made us really welcome and treated us like their sisters. We appreciated it sooo much!! Special thanks to Tunjay- Mr T!, Diegoooo!, Hassan, BARANNN!!! (WE LOOOVVEEE YOU BABYYY!!), Benhur, Chef, Yunis, Deniz, Jengo, Romeo, and all the other boys!!
If ur going to GUmbet, i would 110% recommend this place!!
" BEST HOLIDAY EVER! "
Submitted By: Kim&NikThe staff made the holiday for us! Every member was so lovely and would help you with anything you needed. It took Elvis a while to like us, but he loved us by the end of the week! The entertainment the staff put on a night was fantastic and is fun for all ages. The age range of guests is from babies to grandparents, it's just fantastic!
The 24 hour bar can get pretty lively at night time if there are younger guests about (teens-early 20's) but the staff make sure the music isn't blaring loud so it doesn't disturb the sleeping guests. The hotel is very peaceful at night (now that we're gone anyways, haha) and you can enjoy a goodnights sleep.
All our thanks goes to the amazing staff at Tropicana Beach. We are so glad we booked this hotel and would definately come back again! We gave everyone nicknames that were that nice haha. Thank to; Yunis, Elvis (grumpy), Deniz (denizilin), Romeo, Jenga (jumanji), John (gorm), Rambo (biatch), Ozzie, Totti (curly sue), Flash (can't remember his real name), Grandad (can't remember his real name) and whoever else we've forgot KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND WE'LL BE BACK SOON!!!
Advice: watch out for men with roses, young men sat on the grass in the dark and running up bar tabs!
Activities: Windy boy, carpe diem = best places to eat! shakers & x-bar are great bars at night
Good for: Beach
" Fantastic hotel, huge pool, friendly staff "
Submitted By: jongapesA few prices from the hotel: From the bar - large beer 4.50TL, small soft drink 4TL, pizza (not great) 8TL, English breakfast 6TL. Water from their shop 3TL for 5litre. Milk 3.50TL. Cheaper stuff in town if you want to carry back.
A few negative points: The music from the bar was very loud at night, sometimes past 2am. I had to use earplugs and could still hear the music. Luckly I had requested a quiet room and was away from the bar somewhat, however I probably would've had a heart attack if I'd been placed any nearer. If you have a room with pool/sea view, you will have problems!
The other problem was that we'd booked a room with balcony, as was the description given by TravelRepublic. However they put us on a ground floor room with no balcony (just a little space for a table and chairs). Although I was very unhappy about this at first, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise due to the noise problems highlighted above.
A lot of reviews mentioned the cleanliness of the hotel. This is true, apart from our shower had rather a lot of mould etc around the cubicle which should be remedied easily by a weekly scrub.
Another bad thing - the hotel charges £30 a week for air conditioning. This is outrageously extortionate, the most I've ever paid in Turkey was half that - luckily the nights were cool enough for us not to need this, but give it a few more weeks, and you will have to pay!
ABOUT GUMBET: We went the very first week of June and the place was like a ghost town. Some hotels and restaurants were even closed. A lot of the main bars had literally no-one in at peak time, which was worrying and made for a quiet atmosphere. Simarlarly, the Dedeman waterpark (book through travel agent for cheaper price 30TL) was almost empty when we went.
Tips: If you've done a boat trip in Marmaris, the ones in Gumbet are surprisingly very different. They almost haven't heard of all inclusive drinks on the trips, and will always price you for standard. The boats are also a lot smaller. Black Island on the boat trips is sold as having thermal springs and mud baths - not true. You pay 4TL (just under £2) to swim into a tiny, shallow cave then come out again - big rip off and tourist trap!
A lot of sites on the net say Bodrum doesn't have a beach - this is not true! It does, but it is all shingle. However there are various sunbeds belonging to the bars on the beach, and the water is a LOT clearer than Gumbet's which is meant to be THE beach resort of Bodrum!
Finally, the hassle you get from bars, flower sellers, restaurants, and even shops is unbearable. I'm very used to it from previous Turkey holidays, but think this is the worst I've ever had - actually being stopped in my path on the street, and almost begged to come in. Most will not take no for an answer.
Gumbet is a lot smaller than somewhere like Marmaris, but I'd say it was a good resort overall, with good restaurants and some good bars. If you stay at the Tropicana, you'll have a cracking holiday here!

We will definately be going back to these apartments again as soon as possible!

Submitted By: Miss R MoonThe beach is shingly but that is the only bad thing, just stay around the pool! Ask the staff about turkish baths and the boat trip because they can get you better prices. The boat trip is good and the baths definately recomended. The bars are fantastic and had the best holiday ever.
Take your own towel as they dont like you using the hotels for lying around the pool. The hairdryers in the rooms are not that great so ake your own. Thanks Elvis, Romeo, Soy, Jengo, Rambo, Yunis, Brev, Hakan and anyone else I forgot to mention!!
We are going back next year and wish we had stayed longer.

Submitted By: Miss L BUSSEYWould definatly return to Tropicana Beach as it was only a short walk to all restaurants and bars. Had many lovely meals in Aloha, Sami Plaza, The Tempo to name a few. Many good nights were spent in The Atlantis Bar - who are all pretty crazy but brillaint fun and good entertainers, Aloha Bar was also good staff friendly and hard working. We had no bad meals whilst in Gumbet would recommend boat trips and dreamgirls also a trip to the Turkish village which was worth experiencing. Gill, who was situated between the Atlantis bar and The tempo restaurant, was brilliant at organising our trips.
Definatly wanting to return to Tropicana next year as it was a brilliant holiday and the staff at Tropicana were amazing and helpful at all times. Cant wait to return next year!
Thank you everybody at Tropicana for a great holiday x

Submitted By: Mr K J FordhamThe staff, Brave, Romeo, Jimmy, Rambo, Toyboy, Dolphin to name only those we can remember were the friendliest and most helpful we have met.
The manager, Yunis Deniz, is a wonder! We had some teething problems with our appartment, due to us being the first to use it since refurbishment, but they were all solved the same day.
This was the first time I have seen the value of a rep! Terry one of the friends we met there needed to go into hospital and be out by the time we were due home. Hazel, from Thomas Cook, worked her socks off and made it all possible.
The jeep safari and The Dream Girls, a drag show, were both fantastic and well worth going on. Be careful when paying with a credit card through the rep. They use a higher rate of exchange and we ended up paying £9.00 more when it got to our credit card company!
If you are buying jewelery it is very good quality but don't believe them when they say it will be worth two or three times more in England!
The markets are worth visiting but beware prices are not as cheap as they used to be and we found some items like T-shirts and shoes cheaper it town.
There is a plethera of restaurants all serving good quality food but the best value was Cafe Colombia where you could get a three course steak meal and a free bottle of wine for about 35YTL (New Turkish Lire) or £15.00.
The dolmus, a local bus, cost at set price of 2YTL to almost anywhere including Bodrum.
What can we say bad about the Topicana? The music is very loud at night but that may be cos we is old!
" Don't really know how to explain how... "
Submitted By: Miss N YatesThe rooms were cleaned every day, and not too early around midday which is great if you like to sleep in the mornings like us. As for the views, we didnt have a balcony but we had a lovely terrace with beautiful gardens surrounding it, so dont be too disapointed if you dont get a sea view, you will have lovely views of flowers!
The best part by far of this hotel however were the staff. Everyone of them absolutly made our holiday! from the bar staff to the waiting staff to the free massages from rambo on the beach. They work so hard, and ensure your holiday is a memorable one. We were extremly sad to leave! No entertainment at the hotel however there is a 24hr bar with all the music u can imagine with requests taken well, and the staff make sure you get up and have a dance on the bar, no matter what your age (73 year olds on there when we were there!). Many thanks Cengiz, Romeo, Brave, Rambo, Soy and all the other staff for making our holidays!
Other things to note..hotel is a 5 min walk along the beach to the centre so in a nice quiet part of town, but of course not far away from entertainment, but we prefered getting a taxi home because its quite dark and daunting on the beach for 2 girls at 4am, but it only cost 7 lira or 2/3 pounds. A nice stroll though on the way out! Definatly not too far out. Gumbet centre is quite good, not as mad as tenerife or zante etc, but plenty to do for all ages. There are a few small clubs and plenty of bars and loaddsss of restaurants, definatly reccomend red dragon for a meal of any kind...stunning food (as is the hotel food too!). Watersports etc can be done on the beach, shopping galore just wish i had more spending money. Went on a boat trip for 10 quid all day including a meal, fantastic. Also went to bodrum the dolmus bus stops outside the hotel and costs 2 lira/70p and runs 24hrs. Bodrums very ncie lots of nice restaurants amazing shops and good bars. Also big nightclub if you fancy that but we didnt try it cus it was expensive to get in.
Finally the weather was very hot take lots of suncream 47 degrees in june! nice wind though as it is on a bay, and air con was fantastic.
one last say... stay here! we will definatly be back and reccomending to evryone
